Hell to the NO,The best players on the team were running on fumes & what ever Phil Jackson might of had them smoking to get them through that last go around,& playing the same team you beat easily the year before helped there very lucky ass's, & playing against a young Duncan,maybe the worm wouldn't be able to wriggle around as good against him & David Robinson.

It would have been interesting seeing as how it was only a 50 game season. Everyone had all that extra time to rest and heal. Going against the Spurs would have been tough. Robinson and Duncan were not to be taken lightly. But it is very hard to bet against Jordan when the lights shine brightest. Definitely think it goes 7.

Jordan certainly was known for coming through in game 6's however The Bulls would not have even made the Finals without the play of Toni Kukoc in game 7 of the eastern conference finals,who had 21 points in 33 minutes on 64% shooting including 3 of 4 on three pointers,while Jordan shot 36% from the field.

I believe the Bulls could've broken the Celtics' record of eight in a row, and won nine in a row. If MJ hadn't left to go play Baseball, he would've been even better, instead of having to take time to shake the rust off. The 1999 season was only 50 games (lockout), and them boys could've easily gone 40-10, back to the Finals. The ONLY three people on all six championship squads were MJ, Pippen and Phil (along with his staff). They were the cornerstones of the dynasty, so I have no doubt they could've made history with nine in a row. Just my two cent...

Those would have been the BULLS toughest challenges in the NBA FINALS!!! If you watched their games and especially their playoff series through that era, it became increasingly obvious every season how utterly unstoppable Michael Jordan had become. There was simply no way that any team could stand up to Chicago and hope to take 4 out of 7 games. MJ was not gonna let that happen.

Did everyone forget about Derrick Rose, Noah and Butler run. The Bulls were good enough to make it to the finals again after the 98 season but as we all know the Heat got in our way too many times. There will never be a better player than Jordan ever again. (At least in my lifetime)
@ivaneurope
@ivaneurope 5 жыл бұрын
I think 2015 was their best chance - even though injuries piled up for Joakim Noah and especially Derrick Rose (he was no longer the same after the ACL injury), they had the best chance to be the East's top dog. And mind you, this was the East in which LeBron James decided to come back to Cleveland and he pretty much carried a wounded Cavs squad on his own (Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving were injured early on) to the ECF and beat the Bulls to face the Warriors. Now, we may only specualte what could've been if Carmelo Anthony choosed the Bulls offer and would that have been the key piece, but by 2017 it was all blown up - Noah and Rose were dumped to the Knicks after the 2016 season, Jimmy Butler was traded to the Timberwolves and guys like Pau Gasol, Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade (yes, Wade played for his home town) were also let go. And since then the Bulls are in rebuild mode.

Yeah Krause was trying to tank all of Jordan's young years...and JORDAN would still get them in the playoffs...Oakley a top 6/7 PF with Buck Williams,Karl Malone,Barkley, Rodman,etc, should of never been traded...1999 Bulls would of defeated the 1999 Spurs for a last 7th ring cuz JORDAN only wanted 1 more season...also Krause wanted to trade PIPPEN for TMAC but Jordan said no.

Melvyn Singleton wilt shot same FG % as MJ when paint was 12 feet and he was 7 feet tall vs 16 feet for MJ a 6’6 guard if he really that tall! Example: Wilt 46% FG/ MJ 46% FG age 35, Wilt 2nd season .509%, MJ .515% FG as a rookie, Wilt 4th season .528%, MJ 4th .535%, Wilt never beat that until his 7th NBA season paint was 12 feet all those years that’s NCAA, except 1, then he finally beat it at .540% FG, MJ best is .539% FG his 7th season. When they stopped Wilt from shooting he finally became as efficient as a Shaq or more so.

I think you are overstating how hard it was for Jordan to score. Remember now, he was the best one on one scorer the game had ever seen, and in that era, he got the most shots with the illegal defense rules that banned zone defense with him being the first and only of that era to get star calls. The sheer numbers seem absurd until you realize the plan on every possession was to get Jordan the ball either in the post or elbow and let him pick apart defenses according to how ( or for the more stupid teams if,) the help came much like Shaquille O'Neal. Players of this era were never afforded such an opportunity, hell if Lebron James, one of the best physical freaks of nature the NBA has ever seen, was ever afforded a team like Jordan's, with the rules of that era, in Phil Jackson's own words on the topic " He would break the record books". Whether he would win is a totally different issue because he wasn't as good a jumper shooter as Jordan and as we all time and again see, referees do their best to hold their whistles in the final minutes of high leverage games barring something egregious.

I may be lacking in context of the situation. But why on earth would the Bulls choose Jerry Krause over Phil & MJ? Those Bulls had at least one more run in them. Why not fire Krause? And many guys around the league came back from the lockout that next 98-99 season out of shape. That would’ve made it that much easier for them. No question MJ would’ve stayed in shape
@jonnyarnett
@jonnyarnett 5 жыл бұрын
The owner of the Bulls then and still to this day is Jerry Reinsdorf. Reinsdorf hired Krause in the first place. Jerry Krause was the Basketball mind, while Jerry Reinsdorf wasn't the most knowledgeable basketball person. Even Reinsdorf admitted that. He had a very hands off approach. He believed his job was simply to put the right people in place who knew what they were doing. Reinsdorf was extremely grateful for the contributions Krause made. After all, Krause orchestrated a team that won 6 championships in 8 years. I think the last thing on Reinsdorf's mind was firing Krause. Reinsdorf might have even believed that Krause could rebuild a contender... Krause certainly thought he could.

Jonny Arnett -NBA KZbinr / Gotcha. Thank you for the intel. That was much needed. In hindsight, considering that Krause went on to retire in ‘03 anyway, Reinsdorf still would’ve been better off letting him go.
