I grew up in the Chicagoland area and the first time he retired, I was a freshman in HS, I remember being very sad that he was retiring. When I was a junior, he came back. I think the Bulls losing to the Magic in '95 was a blessing in disguise because for Jordan, it made him realize he was human and that he had work to do. I read that after the game 6 loss, he was back in the gym the next day getting ready for the '95-'96 season. We will never see an athlete like Jordan ever again.

+EdmondLau2007 In your last sentence, you refer to MJ as an athlete. MJ was first of all the most improving player ever. Each season ". he looked back and asked himself: " how can I get better. Not better than others, but better than myself this is what defines MJ: always getting better. That's what differ MJ from many other great players. He never stopped invent himself. After season 94-95, MJ found out that his "air fly skills" are not as they used to be. So he adapted the fadeway shot as his major weapon for the next 3 season with the Bulls.

I remember it all too well. Sad it all had to come to an end eventually. The Jordan era was the greatest run in sports I’ve seen. Non stop entertainment. Regular season games were like playoff games when it was bulls/pistons, or bulls/knicks, or mj vs Barkley, magic, etc...

@onunka168 жыл бұрын
+Isaiah Terrones (Da Doh) yea true but I meant as in just 22 games with just the 45 jersey. I'm sure you can find 50 plays to say the least with Kobe wearing either 8 or 24, he has worn those jerseys for multiple years each while Jordan only were 45 for 22 games.

@intotheabyssoftheunknown44794 жыл бұрын
No shit! MJ on any highlight reel can take dozens of hours to watch. Whether it was scoring, defending or passing, he made the right decisions 95% of the time. That other 5% were mistakes he'd improve upon. That's why he's the Greatest Of All Time. He'd say things like, "57 times, in the closing seconds, I missed the final shot, losing the game." Something like that really would upset him, so he knew he could only learn from his mistakes & work harder to reduce such failures. I'm tired of hearing about the NBA fans thinking LJ, KB or some other player was better all around. Bill Russell was virtually on dream teams for many of rings. Just like LJ. I dont have him in the top 5. eilt Chamberlain was a 7 footer with an 10 foot arm span. He's also not a top 5 player. Jordan, Bird, Johnson, Bryant & Dr J are my top 5 in that order. The others like LJ are right below them. Shaq is also above LJ in top 10. In fact, I'd put James at maybe #10 and that's being very generous!

I was 14 in 1993, waking up at 3am to watch the Phoenix-bulls finals before school, watching Paxson’s 3-pointer live and catching my head in a silent cry to not wake up my parents. michael’s time in baseball was so surreal - in my country where baseball is generally viewed as this unintelligible American thing, the national tv news updated on his lackluster performance each and every evening, and I felt like he is mirroring my own efforts at team sports at school... When Michael finally was back, it felt as if his baseball period was to signal - “look, in some areas I’m struggling just like you buddy, but struggling doesn’t detract from greatness”. He was and still is, the goat.

This Bulls team had some serious deficiencies with rebounding and Longley had yet to really assume the position of being a solid big man, as he was 96-98. But I'm convinced if they had maybe 20 more games together (MJ and the rest of this team), to get in sync -they would have made the Finals.

We have to look at what was offered in different sports. Wayne Gretzky = Hockey. Michel Jordan = Basketball. Joe Montana = Football. For the years they played games were tough with more contact and a level that has not been matched in the respective positions since. To have a natural sense of what to do for a move, pass or play. To me these years made many people want to see these players vs other teams to make us excited about the interaction of greatness

Yeah you don’t need to jump in baseball. It really shows how much of MJ’s talent was a result of hard work and training/conditioning at the gym. I think a lot of people assume he’s just genetically gifted, but he works harder than anyone.

@@ThomasFoolery8 Not just that, remember that he came back and he was struggling with back issues and his knees.... Probably he chose to play smarter and sharper instead of hardcore athleticism which is so more harmful for extremities in long term...
