To celebrate the 1 million views of UNMATCHABLE on KZbin i decided to make a second part of the highlights of Michael Jordan between 2001 and 2003 with the
Washington Wizards jersey .
The old version of MJ who can score more than 20 PPG in 2 seasons and marked some records .
He played against the new generation of very talented players like Dirk Nowitzki , AKA 47 ,KOBE , KIDD , PIERCE , MARION and many others.
Always a trick in his pocket , a reverse fade away , a crazy moves and sometimes some dunks to fake his oponents and prove why is the greatest....his foot work was just amazing.
Not physical plays but a big I.Q and a pleasure to play and teach .....a mastermind at 40 !!!

15 years older than Kobe.. And Lebron who? At 40 years old, young players are still schooled by Michael Jordan! The MOVES, The HANG TIME, The CLEVERNESS, The PASSING ABILITY, The KILLER INSTINCT, The FINESSE and The LEADERSHIP. That's exactly the difference of MJ #23 among Superstars today! There will be no next Michael Jordan. Simply the G.O.A.T.!

You could tell when MJ's knee felt good. The lift he got on his jump shots was that of the late 90s. I enjoyed watching him at this stage of his career. He showed how much more skilled and polished that most of the league. Footwork, post up game, timing, all 2nd to none

Folks who can't cope with the fact that Jordan is and will always be the best ever, simply haven't watched him play or simply weren't born when he was in his prime. We have, and we have seen him play and we have and are seeing today's players play and believe us, there is nobody like Mike.

JORDAN WAS STILL A TOP 10 PLAYER AT 40. HE'S FOOT WORK WAS IMPECCABLE AND HIS FUNDAMENTALS WAS SECOND TO NONE WHICH MADE UP FOR THE LOST OF MOST OF HIS ATHLETICISM DUE TO HIS AGE AND TIME AWAY FROM THE GAME. MJ IS A FREAK OF NATURE. At age 38, this man was still one of the best players in the league averaging 23 points per game and 5 assists with less than 3 turnovers. That's incredible. I don't know if it will ever be done again. Can you imagine Lebron averaging only 4 less PPG a decade from now when he's 38? He's been in the league for a decade now. Hell, at age 39 MJ was still averaging 20 and one of the best in the league. This man scored 43 at age 40. Insane.

Before his knee injury in Feb 2002, Jordan was averaging 25 ppg, 6 rpg, 5 apg in 37 minutes per game. That is INSANE for a 38 year old and only further cements his place as the greatest of all time in my opinion.

Air Jordan was amazing, but this Ground Jordan, was just as fun to watch. Fundamentals at his best. Call me biased, but i think that this old 40 years old Jordan, had he had the stamina of a younger man, and been healthier, he could still have been the best perimeter player in the NBA those 2 years.
@popeyeisgood
@popeyeisgood 10 жыл бұрын
yea i agree. he was 'inconsistent' in those two years by his own standard. but if you just look at his stats, not too shabby for a starting sg. in my opinion due to his 'lacking of athleticism' in those two years, he showed more fundamental skill and tricks than ever more and that made it very fun to watch. it has been a blessing that he never really injuried his knees or ankles to a point of losing speed. that's why we still had the chance to see him schooling those youngsters at the old age.

I don't know about imposter, but I like to believe that Kobe idolized MJ therefor played like him. In one game you can see Kobe asking MJ how he does his spin moves. In fact Kobe wasn't hiding the fact that he wanted so bad to learn more of the game, and like the man he was he swallowed his pride and learned from the GOAT.

it doesn't matter if MJ is kinda slow when he played at the age of 40.. talent will always be there.. it just really shows the IQ inside the court by MJ just never fades

Hey man never seen somebody who can capture the essence of Jordan as much as you can, great observations in the comment section and the videos themselves speak volumes regarding your understanding of the mans talent but more importantly craft. I am a fan of the game and enjoy all kinds of talent and capacity, as such I am a fan of the later super stars that came to the game like Kobe and Lebron. But the numbers of jordan, supported by the level of mastery he displayed on the court simply puts him in a league that only he inhabits. Most younger kids today see lebrons athleticism combined with his feel for the position of other players on the court and his passing ability, they also see kobe's skill level and for those respective reasons consider them to be better than jordan. What most of them seem to ignore is jordans superior intelligence compared to pretty much any body I have seen play other than magic, bird, mchale and olajuwon. Jordans every decision regarding the angle of attack, on the ground and arial adjustment to be made, shot selection, fake selection and foot placement, off the ball movement, ball catching position aaaand his ability to see when not to shoot and pass instead is on point to a degree that surpasses both kobe and lebron by an incomrable amount. In most cases the guy does not bounce the ball more than three times when scoring off of a play that he initiated. And then there is the defense.

When Jordan was in his prime great coach Chuck Daly who designed Jordan Rules to be played or rather executed against MJ, said: He is so good that he is literally embarassing the league. Now almost 40 he is still embarrassing defenders. Just watch them flying by after his fakes. It looks like a professor is showing his students that they still have nothing on him.

James Worthy said something like, "Michael Jordan made you look slow. Larry Bird made you look stupid." I have to say, the older MJ made people made other players look stupid and let them know that he is still the master. He was still better than most. And for short sprints, he was still THE best even in his old age. His body just couldn't hold up any longer playing 40+ minutes for 82 games/season. In some ways, I am more impressed by the Wizard MJ highlights than the Bulls MJ.

In the 2001-2002 season, zone defense came back to the NBA. This old version of Jordan was still tops in the league despite people saying that prime-Bull Jordan would not be able to score in this era of zone defenses. In fact, in this video, there were more assists made by Jordan cause of the zone defense. He would've even greater assist numbers in his prime with the rules in this era, no matter the forward or center he plays with, because it would be very easy for him to penetrate and dish, and post up with much more authority.

I took a long break from mj's videos. When I look back to his bull's day, I notice that many of the defender prefer to stay on their feet instead of jumping to challenge all the time. Hence I thought, perhaps the defense played back in the days are just weaker, and mike will do worse with current style of defend. Now I watched this video, pff. The defender jumps a lot, and the result was getting toyed like mad. Mj GOAT.
@jumpnam
@jumpnam 10 жыл бұрын
Unlikely. You see what happens here when people jump to contest: head fake and a counter move. This is an old, slower MJ scoring on taller, younger, more athletic defenders and a zone defence. If the rules against hand checking, plus the defensive 3 second rule were enforced in the '80's and early '90's, Jordan would have likely averaged 40 +. Phil Jackson has been quoted as saying he thinks MJ would easily average 45 a game with todays rules.
