Not to mention the games seemed more intense, mainly in the playoffs. You can understand why the game changed so much, I doubt the league wanted a team like the 2004 Pistons to be the face of the Nba. They did whatever they could to remove the physicallity and make the game as offense-minded as possible and it worked.

Actualy if you look at statistics, it seam that Chicago was lucky to win this finals. Jordan was hiting 43% of 3 pointers (what is unusual for him) and whole Portland team was hiting just 20% despite having better snipers like Porter (carier average 38%) Danny Ainge (carrier average 37%) Drexler (32%). It seams that Portland should have won this, if not the unlucky shooting.

That was a Great Portland team. They were in the WCF vs Lakers in the late 80’s, Finals vs Detroit in ‘90. The most athletic team in that era. They came the closest to taking Chicago to a game 7 in the Finals, double digit lead in the 4th qtr game 6

While Drexler’s rebounds and assists per game were higher than Jordan’s, his scoring efficiency went way down. Drexler’s regular season 47/34/80 dipped to 40/15/90 in the Finals. Jordan shot 53/43/89 in the Finals, which is pretty insane.

At 12:54, game respecting game. Two warriors, two men at the prime of their careers, trying to kill each other but still showed respect for each other. love it. Drexler gave the GOAT a tough matchup this game and had a stellar gave himself, but he was overwhelmed ultimately. For game 5, the Bulls as a team probably played their best game in the entire series. Pippin also had an excellent game, including a thunderous dunk over Drexler in the first half that is one of the best dunks of his career.

Still, Drexler had five teammates in double-figures, so I would not say he did not have any help. Pippen have a very solid and good game, but Jordan was the difference-maker here. Without his dominant and efficient scoring, there's no guarantee the Bulls win this game.

The only other call might be when buddy was trying to front Jordan on the post up, except Jordan got called for hooking trying to post him up on another play. Looked like the game was called pretty well to me. Even Clyde got some love from the refs, don't know what your watching that was favoring Jordan on foul calls.

This series really brought out the best in the best shooting guards in the NBA @ the time...Jordan & Drexler. The Blazers almost pulled through in game 6, but that big 4th quarter by Chicago's Bench sealed it for them for the repeat championship.

It was interesting that the first 11 possessions that the blazers had in the 4th quarter the refs made every call against them. Some really bad ones, even the commentators talked about it. That is what allowed the bulls to come back from a 15 point deficit. If the roles had been switched with the blazers coming back and winning over the bulls in this fashion, bulls fans would have been screaming from the rooftops that the fix was in. This is why I firmly believe that the game was fixed for the bulls to win.

Even tho MJ was 6-0 in the finals, 4 out of those 6 finals were actually VERY competitive (exception being the 91 and 96 finals even tho Seattle managed to win 2 games after going down 3-0). Everyone talks about how much Mike outplayed Clyde, and obviously he did, but Drexler to his credit still averaged almost 25, almost 8 rebounds and 5 assist in the series.

I watched two games in the Memorial Coliseum, where the Blazers had great home court advantage with an amazing 814 game consecutive sell-out streak, I believe up to 12,666 seat capacity. That made it much more impressive that the Bulls won there. Now the Blazers play in the Rose Garden, much roomier and fewer sellouts.

Michael Jordan worse stats as a bull was in 1994 when just came back from playing baseball and still avg 26.9 pts. So obviously was better once got back into swing of things and obviously he was better in 80s and early 90s. Clyde in 92 season avg 20 points a game and in finals stepped his game up and avg 25 points. In the 92 season MJ avg 32.6 pts and in 92 finals avg 35.8 pts. MJ was just a better player and better scorer

Just ocurred to me, had Portland drafted MJ with the 2nd pick, Clyde would have essentially been the Pippen of the team. Kind of like Superman and Batman pairing with MJ and Clyde. Plus, Portland had a very good team as well in the 80's and early 90's with Buck, Kersey, Cliff Rob, Porter, and Duckworth. I think MJ would have had immense if not more success in Portland.

There was a heavy price to pay for Victory. MJ have to will his way to 46 points and playing the entire second half with an injured ankle and survived being in deep foul trouble after committing his 5th foul midway in the 4th quarter. In fact both teams had key players in foul trouble and the game ended with 3 players being disqualified with their 6th fouls which Horace Grant and Cliff Robinson joined Drexler to their benches after being fouled out.

Watching that series again. Drexler was great . The problem was at center and point guard . Porter and Duckworth didn’t do much when they were definitely better. Houston should have traded Sampson for drexler early

THe smothering defense Jordan faced @4:52 with three guys spying on him. That's what Jordan faced not "one-on-one." You sometimes don't see that type of defense on highlights because the defensive traps forced Jordan to pass or make a turnover which doesn't show up on highlights. Also Jordan turns away from a double that he feels coming you often won't even see the double forming in a highlight video.

The people who say MJ didn't have any competition at SG in his era, Drexler was the real deal. Terry Porter was the 2nd best player on those Portland teams(he did have a few great underrated seasons 89-92) and Clyde got his Trailblazers squad to 2 NBA Finals. Even when he left Portland he was still a very good player for Houston. If history went different and Hakeem somehow was drafted by Portland over Bowie, Drexler wins multiple titles in Portland and is looked at in a totally different light.

Clyde Drexler was a hell of a player but he lacked that killer instinct like Jordan . On the Chicago Bulls Jordan was the man but on the Portland Trailblazers Clyde should have been the man but again he lacked that mental attitude, Clyde would get his points and it would be so quiet you wouldn’t notice he had that many points , Jordan would get his points and the whole arena would know it .
