Michael Jordan is without question the greatest player of all time. Only the young and misinformed would think otherwise. All who witnessed his entire career, even under the scrutinizing eye, we all realized one thing. This player, Michael Jordan is similar to Muhammad Ali. They can immitate, they can try to duplicate, the fact remains the same. Nothing compares to the original.
Even those who mimmick MJ will never pull off his moves with the same level of effectiveness or efficiency. That has already been proven.
Considered basketball's greatest-ever player
Nicknames: His Airness, Air Jordan
Cut from his Wilmington NC basketball team as a sophomore; eventually made the team and led it to state championship
Won Sporting News' College Player of the Year (1983, 1984) and 1984's Naismith and Wooden awards
League leader in scoring, with 10 titles (1986-1993, 1996-1998)
On 2 Olympic Gold-Medal teams (1984, 1992)
In 1994 retired to play minor-league baseball
Bulls retired his #23 jersey when he left the game
Returned to basketball in 1995 and in 1996 became one of two (along with Willis Reed) to win MVP for regular season, All-Star Game and Finals, all in one year
Hosted Saturday Night Live (1991) and starred in Space Jam opposite Bugs Bunny and friends
Finished his career with 32,292 points, third place in scoring, and a career average 30.12 ppg, the best in NBA history
Always wore his University of N. Carolina shorts under his Bulls uniform for good luck
Worked with United Negro College Fund, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Special Olympics and America's Promise
Selected to NBA's 50 All-Time Best Players (1996)
1988: playing against Utah Jazz, 6' 6" (198 cm) Jordan dunked over 6' 1" (185.4 cm), 175 lb. (80 k) John Stockton. A heckler razzed, "Why don't you dunk on somebody your own size?" In his next play, Jordan dunked again, this time on 6' 11" (210 cm), 285-lb. (129 k) center Melvin Turpin. He turned to the fan and asked, "Was he big enough?"
"Even when I'm old and grey, I won't be able to play it, but I'll still love the game." -- Michael Jordan
"I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying." -- Michael Jordan
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." -- Michael Jordan
"Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen." -- Michael Jordan
"Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game." -- Michael Jordan
"One thing I believe to the fullest is that if you think and achieve as a team, the individual accolades will take care of themselves. Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." -- Michael Jordan
"If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." -- Michael Jordan
"Once Michael gets up there he says, 'Well, maybe I'll just hang up here in the air for a while, just sit back.' Then all of a sudden, he says, 'Well, maybe I'll 360. No I changed my mind. I'll go up on the other side.' He's just incredible." -- Magic Johnson, on Michael Jordan's aerial artistry
"That play was 'Give the ball to Michael and everyone else get the @##@#% out of the way." -- Chicago Bulls head coach Doug Collins, on "The Shot" made by Jordan that helped the Bulls beat the Cavaliers in game five of 1989's Eastern Conference First Round
"You will always see MJ's influences on the game. All you need to do is turn on any NBA game and you can see how MJ influenced many players with his playing style and desire. Just watch one game with LeBron James or Kobe Bryant and you will see MJ's influences on their playing style instantly." - Bruce Blitz

Kobe Bryant never has clocked his 40 yard dash because it's probably in the 4.6's. There's nothing wrong with that. I would estimate that LeBron is a 4.5 athlete. There is documentation that has LeBron between 4.5 and 4..7. For instance Cedric Benson was a high high draft pick, #4 overall and he ran a 4.6. Running a 4.6 is still pretty fast and Kobe is pretty fast.
Michael Jordan is on record for running a 4.3 with Deion Sanders. Jordan had a 48" vertical
Ill even go one further, this is the only guy in pro sports who reminds me of the way Jordan ran. McFadden and Jordan have similar strides. Funny that there are accounts of Jordan running a 4.2 and McFadden just ran in the high 4.2's. This guy reminds me of MJ with the way he runs:
/watch?v=6ofdva1wAaU
this is what Jordan's 40 yard dash looked like:

Creativity at it's best... Unbelievable athlete and player... What can you say about him? Just that he was...is...and will be the greatest of all time. I stopped watching NBA after his retirement. I am a very lucky guy that I had the previlage to watch him play. Thank you for the great moment MJ23!

I don't even know why people compare Jordan to anyone. There isn't any comparison. He's the best, ever; from his abilities, charisma, and knowledge of the game. NBA will never be the same w/out him. The level of games played today has down graded tremendously and are not much of a joy to watch them!

Jordan was simply the best player to ever play the game EVER..i can say this as a lifelong Celtics fan who grew up watching Bird, McHale and Parish, some may argue Russel around here and i agree Championship wise (11 to jordans 6) but no one was more dominating, or captivating in the NBA.. I will say this though.Yes he scored 63 against Boston in the playoffs early in his career, But the Celtics still won that game

i only have one thing to add to this well written comment and thats Jordan was the epitome of an athlete. On and off the court Jordan was humble respectful, but all ways full of confidence and respect. He is what all up-and-coming athletes should inspire to be like. Its a shame his career had to end but, im glad it did becuase i can't wait to see if someone out there is willing to put in the effort to be even half of what he was and is. peace
