With regards to the meme on evolution, there are many things to say about it. For instance, we can see the results of science with our own eyes (e.g., cellphones, computers, cars, etc) and that is evidence to accept the defeasible reliability of the word of scientists. But do we have this verification in the case of religious books? Second, if you're really skeptical of science, and you have a bit of money and time, you can indeed verify their results. For example, you could buy a telescope to observe the solar system and make the calculations yourself to check whether they match scientists' calculations. It is not secret or protected knowledge. You do have the opportunity to check it for yourself. You don't have to die first in order to find out. Third, there are _a priori_ arguments to justify belief in scientific authority and testimony. It doesn't require fideistic faith at all.
@TheThreatenedSwan10 ай бұрын
That Always Sunny clip does bring up a good point about epistemology. Even when a bunch of people all say they believe in evolution, they all give different definitions. And in politics the supposed belief in evolution is actually just symbolic for something else as most liberals don't actually believe in evolution because it implies things like a different frequency of genes in different populations affecting criminality and intelligence.

"Confidence" and "Faith", are *_NOT_* the same, on any level. Furthermore.. The "Data/figures/numbers/etc" are in *FACT* there for the *_WHOLE WORLD TO SEE!!!_* And when someone *_DOES_* comes along and says "I don't believe you"... We don't *_MURDER_* them... granted the vast majority of deniers are ignored to the level at which *_THEY_* are ignorant, and when they *_ACTUALLY AREN'T_* ignorant and can reliably, demonstrably, predicatively, *_OBJECTIVELY_* prove where the science is wrong... science corrects it, or at least it *_used to_* before it became a politicized weapon to silence opposition. So... yeah, you *_SHOULD NOT_* just "trust the science" on a *BRAND NEW* _"Vaccine"_ that does *NOT* have even a decade of research on it yet.... *_HOWEVER_* when it comes to the age of the earth, *_EVOLUTION,_* Gravity, the earth being *ROUND,* There *NOT* being a firmament, etc, etc, etc... *_STILL_* don't "trust" the science, go ahead and find out *WHY **_NO ONE ON EARTH_* has proven what you "don't like" about science *wrong* yet. Because as anyone with half a brain can see there's already been plenty of *REAL DATA* to point out that the covid vaccine wasn't all it was *_CLAIMED_* to be... but go ahead and try that on evolution, ask Jordan Peterson about it, and all those *_ACTUALLY_* settled science topics you don't like... I *_IMPLORE_* you to *_ACTUALLY_* find out *WHY* people in different countries, cultures, religions, races, etc, etc, etc, have *_ALL_* come to the *SAME* conclusions. Now don't get wrong, a lot of things are _sold_ as "Settled Science" when it isn't, Black holes, dark matter, dark energy, string theory, the big bang, the *_ACTUAL_* cause of climate change, etc, etc... where the data *_ACTUALLY_* is *not* "conclusive"... depending on the subject, it does currently *_Lean_* towards one answer over another, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for things to be a little bit or sometimes drastically different. But Evolution, the Minimum age of the earth, The Shape of the Earth, etc... *ARE* in actual *_FACT_* well established settled science.
