Jones has one season left with the team. Contract has an out after '24. He will not be on the roster to begin '25.

Jones signed a four year contract. It would cost the Giants $22 million against the cap in 2025 if they cut him after this coming season. They seem likely to do it, and if that is their decision they will likely "Russ him" at some point to make sure he doesn't get injured leaving them on the hook for more money.

Yes Daniel Jones hasn't been everything a number 6 pick usually looks like...but the giants haven't had any clue how to put some consistency around him weather it's coaching staff players or a functional offensive line..all the things quarterbacks everyone considered better then him has..make it make sense..to say it's Daniel Jones fault is crazy did you see all the free runners just taking aim at him..why do people think he should do more with lesser talent around him..go back look how fast the defense got to him he stood no chance..people who say that all these college quarterbacks who never even played a NFL game are better that's disrespectful..we are at 6..if it's not the best or number 2 college quarterback why would you want the 5 best quarterback...just take the best receiver at 6..and another thing besides Caleb Williams coming out of college these guys have drew lock type stats and to be honest none of these guys are really ready to start..Anyone but Daniel Jones right just go ahead and take anyone ..everyone says he never throws it down field..hiw the heck is that supposed to happen when your line is Swiss cheese..and your receivers only have straight line speed no route technicians and a defense who played better down the stretch..but..let's be real..ask people who actually played in those same games even the guys on the other team said..they (his line) can't block 4 him almost got him killed..🗽🏈🔒🫡💯

The QB class of 2019 wasn’t very good for franchise QBs. At least they didn’t pick Dwayne Haskins. Eli was high on DJ since they had the same college coach. But you’re right that the contract is horrific. The Giants bid against themselves. I still don’t know why they didn’t offer him 1-2 seasons at $25M & remind him that they paid well when he sucked 2.5 of the previous 4 seasons. Lol 😂

It didn't matter who our qb was... worst offensive line and no weapons getting open. Drafting a rookie qb will not help us win in 2024 so essentially is a waste and will result in a top 10 pick in 2025.

While you were laughing at Nabers idiotic comment about Jones and the Giants...I was laughing at the video of Nabers getting arrested at Mardi Gras. Jones won a playoff game...earning him my respect and a lot of $$$ in the process. Half of these college players that talk a big game going into the draft will be humbled in the NFL. Without Jones this past year due to getting beat up behind a historically bad oline...the Giants could not sniff the playoffs like they did the year before with Jones.

I don't know about the other posters, but I am at a disadvantage disagreeing with Michael Lombardi because he is a pro and I am a fan. However, I know that after Donald Trump the most hated person in the northeast by the media is Daniel Jones. On the one hand, Michael Lombardi says, "Jones is not a bust." On the other hand, Michael Lombardi says Daniel Jones is not a good quarterback. I disagree that Rich Eisen is not a "rumor guy." Rich Eisen is looking for ratings and attention. Rich Eisen is a fan, not a pro, who is in the media: he wants to make money. Hearsay is worse than leprosy: it is unreliable. Rich Eisen gave us hearsay about Daniel Jones. Michael Lombardi is a pro, but he does not know everything. The Giants spoke to Russell Wilson because the Giants need a backup. Russell Wilson left unsigned because he was told Daniel Jones is the starter. By the way, what is wrong with Drew Lock? Of course, everyone knows the Giants had the worst offensive line in the NFL in 2023, and they have not had a top wide receiver since 2018. These elements should be considered when testing a formula. Daniel Jones has had many good games and many not so good games. The reasons why should be dissected. Evaluating a quarterback and selecting a quarterback in the draft are complicated unpredictable tasks. How are Justin Fields, Josh Rosen, Josh Wilson, Sam Darnold, Kenny Pickett, Bryce Young, and Mitch Trubisky doing? The Giants have more holes than a bee hive. If they draft a quarterback with the 6th pick of the first round in 2024, they are giving up on the 2024 season. If the Giants draft Rome Odunze, the offensive line improves, and Daniel Jones is healthy, the Giants will make the playoffs in 2024.

I’m a Steelers fan but have liked & respected the Giants since they got LT. Honestly, drafting Jones was still a much better option than drafting Dwayne Haskins. The Giants traded serious pics to get Eli from the Chargers so drafting DJ 6th would’ve been great if he became a franchise QB. Ernie Accorsi, the Giants GM who drafted Eli is in an interview that’s on KZbin describing how they evaluated Eli & how teams need to just go ahead & pay the price once they’re convinced that the QB is “their guy.” It’s worth watching. You’ll feel better about the draft pick. Remember that 2/3 of QBs drafted in the first round don’t make it to a second contract with the team that selected them. The good news is that your Giants at least had a good process instead of leaving it up to chance. Even Eli helped the Giants evaluate DJ since they had the same coach in college. DJ had decent rookie season & played OK in 2022 so at least he wasn’t a complete bust & if he plays lights out in 2024 everyone will be happy & he will stay. IMHO the only mistake they made with DJ was giving him a contract for $40M per season when no other team was willing to pay anywhere near that. The Giants messed that up considering that they’d turned down his 5th year option of $22.4M because he hadn’t played well enough. Suddenly he refuses to sign for a mere $25M per season even though other teams didn’t want him. The Giants could definitely use another $15M of talent as a supporting cast. With that said, IMHO DJ is still a good human being who’s simply being overpaid because the Giants got excited by the 9-7-1 season. At least they have an out at end of 2024. Always remember that there wasn’t a lot to choose from. Haskins was going to be a bust & Gardner Minshew isn’t really franchise QB. DJ did some good things & at least would be a great backup but he also might come back better in 2024. Whatever happens, good luck this season. 🍀👍 Good luck this se
