In regards to their "rules at the pool" analogy.. Who owns the pool? Who sets the rules? Who ENFORCES the rules? What about the land around the pool? What if someone decides to draft a conflicting set of rules? What agency are people who disagree with the rules, left with to shape the system in a manner they deem to be more agreeable?
@wesomek

I'm only 30 mins in and so I might have to edit this, but the issue of anarchism comes from the inability to stop groups from foruming. Any Anarchist community must be individual and as soon as a group of people start to develop rules and laws around their community you start to develop an overarching structure known as government. Weak people group up to stop the strong from using their power against them and this group always makes rules for staying or being disenfranchised. Therefore Anarchy only exist as an idea and as the temporary when there is nothing else. When groups of people come together and make rules for their community it becomes a government. I think a structure or system can be made which keeps the powers that be off the wheel. That's why you have three branches of government and the power of the government is supposed to be balanced between three different groups. There are many issues with this one being that because laws are so hard to pass you get into a government that only two forces exist so that your laws can be passed vs the others laws not be passed. Which has lead to a dysfunction of the system overall. Also laws being striped back that do no pertain to modern issues is another problem. No one has the ability to look back and take laws out that have no functionally or worst case dysfunction in the system of modern governance. So we slowly make laws and sometimes the next administration strips the previous laws away but eventually over 200 years it will become over bloated without any real ability to take away all the laws or a real function of government to administer review of those law which have become void do to the era its in. Ok obviously this was recorded before the debate, but can you believe it was that bad? like not even in the realm of decent that these guys wish it were, but just an awful mess in which everyone including the moderator is embarrassed.

Josh Wallace But why do we assume competent people don’t need or want leaders? There are many competent people like Lex who would benefit from some sort of teacher, mentor, or leader. I’m starting to think this podcast series is more just about showing us a window of Lex’s journey of learning about life from all of these wise men/women in fields inside and outside AI research. Maybe I’m thinking of leader as teacher/mentor too much in this sense.

We need a final solution to uplift mankind and bring in the utopia. Either sterilize them of gas 'em i say. See what i did there? Who are you clowns that divide mankind in worthy and unworthy , clever and dum ? Enemies and allies? Is that anarchism? Who are you to say a human being is beyond redemption? What ,? You float above us bathed in holy light? What if i find you , in my own beliefs and measurements beyond redemption? Then what? I guess it doesnt apply to you and yours cause u r a special kind of butterfly right? You clowns must be the only strawberries in a field of cucumbers right? Thats not a new proposal , thats old as fucking history. Thats a high castle mike namesaysall malice is sitting on , advocating division and elitisism , and he calls himself anarchist? More like "let me tell you stupid fucks what is good for you" , kind of enlighted contradictory bullshit. Drawing lines is easy as breathing man. We need a vision of unity not division and hatred. But thats difficult stuff right? Fuck the , love the other human and see past his imperfections and respect him , bring in the average joes for redicule and scapegoating. Lets build our utopia in division , cruel hearts , hatred and cynisism and huge egos for we r the chosen ones because we read books and can talk well. Peasants and common folk dont know whats good for them anyway , even if you spelled it cause they r fucking illiterate. Am I right m' Lord? Never done that before in history. It might actually work ...... Malice is nothing more than the courts jester in the digtal landscape , with a huge ego that feeds on stomping-trolling others to give relief to his inferior complex. Lex wasn't wrong though. He was (I think) about to postulate that there is a need for authority in some cases, for instance an expert is a form of authority that we mostly agree to listening to. A doctor will tell you what's best for you, as should a lawyer. You usually bow down to this authority. It was a train of thought that Michael anticipated, so didn't let him finish. He sometimes shoots his mouth off with quick soundbites, erm, like a politician. I bet Lex was kicking himself, afterwards, for letting Michael bully him. Lex isn't stupid, he just might not think so quickly, sometimes, or is too kind to disagree and create conflict.

I think this is the best podcast I've ever seen. I agree with Malice on some things, and with Lex on others, and sometimes I agree with neither. Malice did a shit job explaining it tho. Which tells us he really doesn't understand chan culture. Before understanding tits or gtfo, you need to understand "there are no women on the Internet". In life women get treated well. The reason for that is tits. On the Internet the tits are not on display like in irl. Therefore there are no women on the Internet. On the same note, there are no men on the Internet either. If there were people would be a lot more polite like in irl for fear of getting their ass kicked. No women or men on the Internet. Rather the Internet is genderless. With this in mind, when a girl shows up on Chans starting the post with "as a woman" expecting it to get her extra privilege, as it does irl, the only logical next step would be for all the other anons to demand..... Tits. Or GTFO.

Lex elevates what I, at first, thought was most interesting about Joe Rogan.....which is to say Rogan's natural curiosity and willingness to sit down and discuss interesting topics with interesting people in a long format that affords the guest an opportunity to unpack their ideas. Rogan is really good at this. Lex is next level. Perhaps more importantly, Lex gives a much stronger impression of wanting to understand what the guest thinks, and thus provide the audience with a better understanding of what the guest thinks. Rogan is a smart guy who's interested in a wide variety of topics but his talent rests in juxtaposing what Rogan thinks against what the guest is articulating. Lex's superpower is an apparent genuine desire to get the guest to fully articulate what they think. Where Rogan pits himself against the guests ideas, Lex pits his lack of understanding against the guests ideas and generally only inserts "himself" to help the guest understand the potential limitations of a lay audience.

he's a joker and he's an intelligent smart ass. Ultimately anarchy doesn't work because somebody wants power and the state is a compromise on that unfortunate fact of mankind. Unfortunately, that's hard to tell someone nicely. Anarchists can be anarchists all they want until someone who makes their vote heard (by force) wrangles them up. Power abhors vacuums. Even if they don't make an official 'state' there will be some sort of power structure, probably a cartel. Maybe it'll evolve OPE they made the state again lol.
@Panaceamedia
@Panaceamedia 3 жыл бұрын
@@SaturnVII Cartels exist because laws exist. Plenty of anarchist communities have existed and thrived until GOVERNMENT comes to stop them from living peacefully. The government exists because they take money from the people without consent. People stop paying taxes, government runs out of money and ceases to exist, no one would work for a cartels when there are safer options and don't need protection from the government. Humans are naturally peaceful. That we are not is propaganda to control us and make us fear each other. We become corrupted by being taught to fear/hate/retreat from confusion and by having our consent removed from us. For humanity to evolve, I see only two options: Anarchy, or a form of government where each individual has a say or can have someone speak on their behalf and can remove their consent at any time. This would of course require the abolition of Federal governments (via simply businesses and individuals no longer paying taxes) and would have to start from neighborhoods and grow from there. (Ex: Neighborhood A has 3 different people speaking for those in their neighborhood, Neighborhood B has 4, 5 of these 7 consent to one of them represented them for the a larger neighborhood coalition, the other 2 pick another rep, so 2 people are now going to represent both neighborhoods. Keep going from there. No consent is removed. Every single person has something they agreed to speak for them and can remove consent at any time. The more we stop making excuses to take people's consent, the more trusting people will become and the less "grey area" situations would occur. It's just the math of the consciousness.)
@SaturnVII
@SaturnVII 3 жыл бұрын
@@Panaceamedia OK, whatever. I already said that anarchists can behave all they want until someone else comes to wrangle them all up. The relationship to the state is one of force, is this even up for debate? Humans may be peaceful by nature but they're also pretty damn disagreeable too and if everyone's off doing their own thing, then nobody's doing anything. And regardless of whether your perfect anarchist system works, it is an evaporating system that will be absorbed by government powers of any variety that see the need to. I'm a laissez faire guy when it comes to philosophy but I also really don't have this patience for "oh wah the government makes me stop squatting" like yeah, duh. And that's all if in your system you don't just make a de facto state at some point.
@Panaceamedia
@Panaceamedia 3 жыл бұрын
@@SaturnVII I did not think my commented warranted a "whatever." I'd have preferred an "okay boomer." Anyhow, we've been brainwashed for millennia that a system based on a foundation of force is necessary to build a society. This is false and will be our demise. If you make excuses why it's okay to remove consent from one group/person (or by proxy), someone will make an excuse why it is okay to take it from you. People are disagreeable after they've been punished for approaching confusion with curiosity and when their consent has been removed. The less this happens, the more effectively and peacefully people will work together. You are going in the wrong direction if you are still defend, or resigning, to societies built on a foundation of force. Kids see parents making excuses and go all in on acting hypocritical and thus the cycle continues.

It's not a wholly true statement, despite it being amusing and superficially true-sounding. I vote for someone who is competent at their job. I don't necessarily want to do the job myself, so I realise that I need somebody competent to do it for me. If everyone did everything for themselves, it would be so inefficient. Little would get done. that's why we have organisations and governments (in theory, and mainly in practice). Many people don't really know what is best for them or their country, so that part of it is true, but to say it as a sweeping statement for all people is the height of stupidity. He should choose a leader, otherwise he is admitting that he's also too stupid to. Therefore, why listen to his opinion? He does seem a fun and interesting person to talk to, though.

Malice is great at trolling. When it comes to people’s kneejerk insistence on propping up or defending their idea of society-that’s really what Malice is mocking. Your view of something that is so subjective and interpretive is something set up to be easily mocked, particularly if there’s an insistence where just because one can hold an opinion of how they think the world and those in a population should behave still doesn’t exactly measure up with reality in the fact that those same people are ignorant of how much of the world works outside their own limited and personal experiences. Corporations getting readily criticized, yet for broad reasons rather than particular reasons, is a great example of this. Hierarchies built up by competence are always naturally occurring. That doesn’t mean one can’t criticize on a legal end of things how corporations are viewed as having individual legal personhood by governments. Yet many people don’t neatly inspect or divide respective details with distinction given subject matters of scope. As far as corporations and political corporatism, many people would regard such a thing as familiar. That’s easy grounds for harboring contempt, or at least discontentment. If that’s the one motivating factor one goes by to drive forward a point of view built upon a lack of ideological consistency, than that’s a certain measure of incompetency. If many, many people are operating that way in their mental framework of observation while interacting with the rest of everyone around them, then what assessment is their to be made about society as a topical point of discussion? It’s clearly not valued in the same way from person to person, even at shorthand. And that said, it kind of dampers the humor to say as much. Quick witted thought isn’t really meant to be spoiled.

@@dandare1001 Well it seams all forms of government eventually end in tyranny. The constitutional Republic was meant to limit governments power and prevent democracy from becoming majority /mob rule. The individual inalienable rights being the key focus whereas the traditional democracy puts equality first which is unrealistic. Anarchy wouldn't exist if governments hadn't always become hijacked by corruption. The larger the government becomes the more powerful and corrupt it becomes leaving the citizens in a sense incapable of upholding their duty of overthrowing a corrupt government when things such as elections can no longer remove the corrupt individuals. Anarchy is basically the absence of large governments and in a healthier society people are quite capable of respecting each others rights and understanding if they choose not to they won't have the system to protect them from the consequences of their actions. Regardless of the government society can function with the basic understanding of individual human rights. If nothing else at the point when the illusion of the American democracy destroys itself Anarchy is where we will be

The comments on Chris Wallace being a good moderator didn't age well, but otherwise great conversation.

He was better than the ones I saw in '16. Back then it was "no holds barred". Wallace at least tried to stop the speakers from interrupting each other.

Just discovered Michael. I’m not an anarchist, at least not yet - but appreciate honest intelligent people and dialogue. Look forward to more. In so far as the discussion about love versus mockery: love buys nothing but ‘advantage’ when someone is so committed to their offensive. Mockery is resistance and resistance is a responsibility for free men in the face of tyranny, organized or otherwise. Love is something you express on the way through cancel-culture and censorship on the way to reeducation camps.

"Those who need leaders are not qualified to choose them." This can be expanded on the idea that most people read headlines without even reading the body of the article. Ignorance causes people to be unqualified to choose their leaders.

@Fato DelaVeritas exactly. they are the "qualified" ones to choose leaders for others, but don't recognize that they are the ones who need them. e.g. believing that the internet is making everyone else less intelligent, then suggesting "banning 'viral' algorithms".
