Im very happy to have stumbled upon this. For me this is probably one of your most important podcast. Malice is wrong on anarchy. I like him a lot but he evades a lot and his definition of anarchy is incorrect. Anarchy does not mean voluntary, it means an absence of government. The thing he evaded with his private governance is that the examples he gave are all supported by government in regard to property rights. A good government is one which defends rights by punishing infringements of them(wrongs). Government is the entity in a given area with the monopoly on the use of force. Rights are inherent, inalienable, self-assertive moral principles that it is RIGHT for each individual to use their liberty and WRONG for any individual or group especially government to infringe on any individual’s liberty. Liberty is the individual’s ABILITY to think and to act. Freedom is when society respects liberty and rights. It is absolutely true that no totally good government has ever existed. That is undebatable. But airplanes did not exist until a little more than 100 years ago. And they weren’t perfect upon their invention, they still improve to this day. The point is that things that haven’t been realized as of yet are potentially possible so long as they are grounded in reality. Without an entity with the monopoly on the use of force it is likely that the competing security forces will vie for that monopoly position. And they may not do it on terms which respect rights. Before long you will have a few very strong security forces and then maybe 1, I.e a monopoly. Anarchy doesn’t last.

@Blair Gordon I agree 100% to your point, Joe's personality starts to become more and more abrasive, self absorbed, know-it-all. Maybe he should do some Dmt again, learn to listen to people instead of constantly interrupting people and starting to talk something completely irrelevant.. and spotify is a pain in the ass to use. 😑 I like Lex very much, but his guests aren't very different from each other. I can't stand a one more episode of bitcoin. 🙄 These Malice episodes I love the most. But Joe's guests used to be more diverse and interesting to me a few years back.
@arda8393

@@76blackwidow we are on the same wavelength 🤝, i cant bloody stand the bitcoin stuff. I forget the guest but i think there was a 4 hour episode released in the past week with a bitcoin person but it was really insightful and was more on the fundamentals behind bitcoin so could be thought on past bitcoin. Was brilliant. Joe does have a wide range of guests but i never click on any that involve comedians or mma fighters. Lex had a pod within the last 10 days with a greek comedian and it was bloody brilliant, i get the sense that if that guest was on rogans pod the tone would not have been as joyous as joe would try to be funny amd prove hes part/equal to other comedians. And whilst im here can we just appreciate Jordan Petersons podcasts, they along with lex's are utterly flawless.

I love that they literally told each other that they loved each other at the end of this, yet there wasn't a moment where any of them missed a chance to bust the balls of anyone they were sharing the table with. This is what real communication and relationships are built on. Awesome stuff Lex, I can honestly say I'm a big fan of the all the people on this episode after watching the entire thing. This was great. I really appreciate the 3 different "individual positions" but a mutual respect and interest in the discussion. I'm personally not too familiar with Ayn Rand but these general & specific points were pretty fascinating. I've been recently trying to get back to regular reading habits and control of my focus and attention, which unfortunately has greatly diminished in the last few years. Was on a deep dive into David Foster Wallace recently which helped to stoke some inspiration to get back to my personal library and I think this discussion has also done some good as a reminder of my passion for a great read. When so much of my free time is too easily spent on multiple podcasts, movies both nutritious and trashy, other media distractions.... I need to find/create the focused space to return to a great book. Thanks.

I heard her name cuz of the band Rush. Their big long song 2112 is largely inspired thematically by the fountainhead. When I heard that I got interested n I read it. I was 12 when I read it and I won't lie it's crazy fuckin boring for a preteen but read it again recently n it's a good read. And not only after reading the fountainhead did I realise that the drummer, the guy that wrote the lyrics, had loads of objectivist Randian ideas, especially in their earlier work when he joined.

No. Objectivists generally like a lot about Mises’ economics, but hate his attempts at epistemology, and absolutely detest today’s Mises Institute, which has been corrupted by the anarchism of Murray Rothbard. Rothbard was a dishonest hack who “borrowed” much from Rand and then slandered her with lies (which he apparently admitted to Steve Valliant at one point). He was also an anti-American who even went on the defend the brutal Soviet regime, siding with it over the U.S.
