Michael Moore has lost 30 pounds in three months and is doing his best. He walks 1/2 to an hour a day. He, like most Americans, has a major weight problem and now realizes he has to take it off in a healthy way and set an example for the rest of Americans. Michael is fully aware how important it is to strive to be healthy. Keep it up Michael. Good Luck!

Yes, thank God he is, and people should strive to be like him. My dad is pretty active around the house by doing it himself first and then if he finds he can't do it himself then has asks for other people's help. I mean he (not a mechanic) does simple tasks like change the oil. You can actually save a ton of money and time by learning how to do these tasks. This can be why he doesn't complain about the price of his prescriptions.

It's so interesting to see so many comments criticizing Michael Moore. I would like to see someone have the balls to stand up the the flawed administration leading this country. His films are not propaganda, they're the harsh realities of this elitist system that we live in where the rich only get richer and the poor always gets poorer.

"You sought to minimize the impact of death" Again, thanks for attributing a meaning to my message that was not intended. I didn't seek to "minimize the impact" of each casualty, but rather to understand their impact as part of the military strategy in the context of other conflicts and other losses. Sorry, if its too difficult for you to understand, maybe we should just move on.

For myself, becoming aware of Ron Paul has changed my view of the world. I always knew that things were not right but did not know why. Now I know about the Federal Reserve, debt-based money, the principles of individual liberty, the perils of collectivism, government and corruption etc. Now I spend my spare time and money studying, practicing and teaching these principles. Wake up Americans and take back your country! Ron Paul for President 2008!

I'm also Canadian. Our medical needs are taken care of, with a small fee paid by each citizen per month deducted from paycheques. If a person works in a job where benefits aren't included, they pay that amount themselves to our medical services. Either way, it works. Believe me, as a 49 year old that's lived in Canada all my life, the government has not tried to "take over" any of our rights, human or otherwise. It's not about "taking over", it's about taking care of. Cheers!

Michael Moore is spot-on. In addition, people MUST begin to take more responsibility for their health, i.e have self control and don't eat that donut, leave the junk food on the store shelf! Quit the butts! Obesity and smoking account for many of our health problems. Don't need to turn off the TV -- just stick in an aerobics DVD instead! Every person is responsible for his/her health and that of their children. Good health begins at home!

I just spent 3 days in the Hospital, I buy my own insurance and pay for everyone in my company. After these 3 days I can tell you first hand that at least half of the patients that I met in there didn't have any insurance, and commanded every little thing like they were kings and queens. I was discussed, the guy next to me owned apartments and was doing business on the phone for the whole time I was there. Social workers came in, hospital help, endless people to give him everything for free.

All I can tell you is what I saw, on that broadcast, at that time, that's whey they said. There's a really good joke that went around during the recession of '91. A guy applies to McDonalds. The manager says "I see you've got a Masters in Geology." The guy replies "yes, I know I'm overqualified, but I really need the work." He's told "I wish I could help you, all our Geologists have PhD's."

For many years now I have been selling auto, home and business insurance. I don't write health insurance but I am so afraid to come in each and every day because I know one of my longtime customers might call and tell me they can't pay for their insurance anymore. It's not losing the business that frustrates me, it's what's happenening to all income levels, except the filthy rich. If I could, I would pay the bills for them. He has a strong moral center (unlike Liberals). He knows the job of President doesn't mean constantly changing your mind based on the results of weekly focus groups (unlike Liberals). He knows the consequences of inaction, and of failure (unlike Liberals). Satisfied?

The reason why we created a government was to give our country permanence, and to give our people a collective voice through a system that would have the power to answer the requests of its people. The government is still supposed to be there to help us, not just themselves That strong free market better be coming with citizens that strong ethics and morals, or it will just revert right back to the few having more than the many again.

BTW, please don't try to tell me that preserving these soldiers lives is your primary concern. If it were, you'd realize a few things, like: 3500 KIA in 4 years is one hell of a record. In WWII we sometimes lost 15000 in single engagements. More people die each year from lung disease, firearm deaths, and military training accidents. 45,000/yr die in auto accidents on our nation's highways alone. So, for soldiers IN A WAR ZONE, I'd say they're doing a pretty fucking great job over there.

"The US is ranked # 37 for healthcare" --They're comparing a Socialized system to our system based on Socialized criteria, and you can't do that. And they're lying with their statistics, or at least you're being fooled by them. The shortest wait time to see a doctor is in the US. And for those who are able to choose their hospitals and specialists come to the US, not to France, or Cuba. That speaks volumes in itself.

The Surgeon General is part of the Administration as he is an appointee. It isn't his job to see to the health care of the people of other nations, but to the health and wellbeing of the people of the US. That's what he's paid for. And that is more in tune with the Administration's job. So if the SG wants to be an activist for the health of other nations, the SG should quit and go do that.

ale - Tax rate in USA is 0-35%. Sweden 0-55%. Denmark 38-55%. Norway 28-54%. That's how they pay for it. And because the taxes are so high, prices for consumer goods and services are sky-high. Gasoline is, in USD, $6.27/gal in Norway, $5.93/gal in Denmark, and $5.80/gal in Sweden. Renting an apartment or hotel room in these countries is also ridiculously high, as well as food prices. On a travel show, I saw a picnic lunch for 1 priced at well over $50 in Sweden.
