Michael Palin visits BFI Southbank to talk about his first visit to Nigeria.
In Michael Palin in Nigeria the actor and broadcaster embarks on an epic 1,300-mile journey across the ‘Giant of Africa’. It’s a country that encompasses stunning landscapes and wildlife, a variety of cultures and faiths, and a diverse population who speak over 500 languages. In Lagos, he finds a vibrant city of extremes - from heart-wrenching poverty to extravagant wealth.
With Nigeria set to be the third most populous country in the world within the next 50 years, this series captures the country through the eyes and experiences of the people who live there. For Michael, at 80, it may well turn out to be the most profound journey of his life.
