It was awesome for Japan to win Silver. Fantastic swim by Kitajima especially. I guess he was desperate to make up for his disappointment in the individual events. I think he swam his leg like 0.5s faster than Hansen. Great way to go out.

Track and field, speed skating, and track cycling are all organized the same exact way as swimming. Each distance event gets it's own gold medal. Completely fair, as each event is catered to a different type of athlete (sprinters, distance, etc). Phelps is just that good that he can race different distances and still win.

Explode off the blocks throwing your hands out in front of your eyes, and point your toes. When your feet leave the blocks, keep your hands down towards the water, and arch your back in a way that pushes your chest forward (this causes that arch in the lower back). As you approach the water, mid-air, your arms will naturally move back up into the streamline position, and have your body follow your hands. It takes a lot of practice, but it's an extremely powerful way to dive.
