That was great. Very funny. We have come so far as a species but still can't seem to overcome hate for what we don't understand or that someone does not like. I am straight and am not attracted to other men but had an uncle who was gay. He had to hide that his entire life and that is the sad reality of the world that we live in. It took a lot of guts for Stipe to reveal his sexual orientation and I have a lot of respect for that. You should never have to go through life pretending that you are someone that you are not.

again, another reason why R.E.M. is my favorite band of all time...throughout these years they still manage to make great music, uncompromising, reflective and not at all trying to fit with the idea of mainstream...always staying true to their alternative roots, and then they come up with something brilliant like this and i love them even more! michael stipe, you rule!!

I don't think he really classifies his sexuality and has been quoted to say "I'm not homosexual, I'm not hetrosexual, I'm just sexual" and "I've always felt that sexuality is a really slippery thing. In this day and age, it tends to get categorized and labeled, and I think labels are for food. Canned food."
