I did my private pilot check ride with Mike’s dad, and watching this reminds me of that ride. Same mannerisms, same demeanor, same professionalism. 👍

Another great video! 62 YO commercial pilot just getting black current in same make and model. Great patience and man this video series with your wife demonstrates what a great instructor looks like. Great work!

Nice job Karin. My wife was hesitant to get her instrument rating. She agreed to watch Karin’s first actual IMC training flight. She had me repeat the video two times to watch how you handled it Karin and was impressed how you stayed focused and on task when you, as Michael said, “got behind the aircraft”. My wife’s biggest fear is getting an IFR instructor that is not patient and supportive like Michael. My wife insisted that we have to spend the necessary time to make sure we find a “Michael” type instructor or she simply will not get her instrument rating( YES,SHE ACTUALLY INDIRECTLY SAID SHE WOULD GET HER INSTRUMENT RATING). Man, I got to be the best non pushy wife supporter that ever existed. Wish me luck!

Hi Frank - thanks so much for your kind note. This is something I wish I could have done years ago - but am happy that I can do it now. The instrument world has definitely opened my eyes to a whole new world of flying and now much better understand the 'flow' of traffic for all airplanes. Between flying with Michael and a couple of our other great instructors, Sporty's ground course, the Sheppard Air written test prep, I feel that I am getting a lot of help all around to be a better pilot. When I started I was pretty rusty, but definitely feel better now. Good luck with her. She'll definitely need her own passion and drive to do this, but I am sure you are a great role model!

Thanks so much for watching. All of the IFR content is really quite amazing. Once I got through everything it all came together. In the beginning it seems like it doesn't fit together and then in the end it does!

Hello Mike and Karin, thanks for this series of videos on your IFR programm. I was looking for this, but couldn’t find any until I found your channel. This is real life education. Really great, and I would expect many more thumbs up. Keep on going! I almost do not dare to ask, but could you also show some lessons on the simulator? Regards from Germany.

Love watching these videos and thank you both for taking us on this journey with you - I have only been instrument rated for a couple of years and I learn something from every one of Karin’s lessons. Nice job in the clouds, Karin, I look forward to seeing you get your instrument rating, it is well worth the time and effort and there is nothing like flying yourself above the clouds! It was my pleasure to meet you both this past week, the Performance Flying Course far exceeded my expectations, which were already very high - I learned so much! Fly safe...

Hi Ray, Thanks so much for your kind note. It was wonderful meeting you as well. The Extra is definitely a game changer with performance flying! i can't wait to have all of this completed. Thanks for your support!

When you say, fly the command bars, does that also mean Flight Director?

@@RusscanFLY Yes. The command bars are part of the Flight Director system. In a G1000 they are magenta in color.

Question, why don’t you use the NAV needles on the HSI?
@mikegoulian4 жыл бұрын
Hi Micke, We are absolutely using the HSI needle as the primary means of Navigation. The flight director when in GPS (magenta) gives commands to the pilot to keep the HSI needles centered. Hope that helps.

Nice Job Karin. Just curious, how many total hours you have. I am a low time (150 hrs) multi rated (flying a DA62 but learned in a Cirrus) pilot working on my instrument rating, I feel your pain on these procedures...a lot to learn.
@mikegoulianaviation60303 жыл бұрын
Hi Brett - I have about 240 hours, but it's spread over 15 years, so not a lot. It definitely helps to fly at least 2x per week. Everything is starting to make a lot more sense!
