Back in the 90s point karate people used to really suck at transitioning to full contact MMA or even kickboxing.... But that's changing these days with really good MMA fighters coming from point karate.

competition karate has evolved from where it was up to the 90s. It now seems to emphasize simple, practical techniques and combinations that can work in the real work of MMA fighting as well as in the touch fighting environment. Mix boxing with this style of karate and you seem to get a useful and effective approach.

its really interesting. are the old karate masters of old right when they say, you only need one punch to end a fight. that's the basis of point karate isn't it?

I suppose the one punch finish is the basis for touch fighting scoring, but I think we all know that while one punch can finish a fight it cannot be expected to do so. I personally suspect that the one-hit notion was imported from kenjutsu when karate migrated to Japan.
