This is a very important book to me. I had let life get in the way and I had spent several years without touching a deck of cards. I somehow came across the pre-order for this and placed the order right away as an inspiration to get back into magic. Helder is a favorite of mine and I had always regretted not ordering his previous book. It arrived in early 2020, which was a perfect time to get back into a hobby, and I did in full force. I have more of a passion for the craft than I ever did before and this book was the impetus. Around the same time, I discovered your KZbin channel and your classic approach, and discovered the works of Darwin Ortiz. These three things have helped me develop as a magician more than I ever thought I could. This is a wonderful and beautiful book. While many of the routines are designed for a more formal setting than I perform in, there is much to be learned from each one. Several routines have made their way into my repertoire, but I have given each my own presentation. Mystery Switch is a particular favorite.

Your video about your favourite books changed the course of my magic. I will make all the time in the world to hear your opinions about magic books. Studying magic books allows you to interpret things in your own way and facilitates, proper, hardcore study of the craft of magic. Looking forward to more book reviews Legend! :)

Michael, you have been a favorite performer of mine for a long time. I relish the idea of listening to more of your thoughts about the written word within our art form.

This is an honest, authentically informative deep dive review into a magic book written by an artist, a distinguished architect of wonder. Ive always enjoyed Helders work and saw the book available and now your wonderful thoughts referring to the contained material and how you process other artist work. This comes from a perspective built over time like the finest wine. Bravo Michael for this start of a new year with new directions and clear guidance for a future of more effective wonder. The guidelines that you encourage in study, application and vision of how to elevate your performances. Thank you sir 🙏🏼🙂🎩

Maestro Vicent, could you please post an in-depth review on Nelm's "Magic and Showmanship"?? That work did help me to see conjuring profoundly and seriously. In my opinion, we should focus on perusing vintage books such as Professor Hofmann's "Card Tricks and Sleight-of-hand principles" and Maskelyne-Devant "Our Magic." Soooooo much to learn from those masterpieces!!!

Happy New Year to everyone! This is a great book by a great artist. I have followed Helder’s work from the very start with his first dvd and lecture notes. His passion shines through everything that he does. I look forward to more of your thoughts and reviews Michael. Take care John

Thanks MV! 👍🏾 I liked your comments about not copying. Ive loved card magic since i was a little kid growing up in Brum. I saw someone do a trick recently them proceeded to show how it was accomplished. I dont know why but i just couldnt do it. I stopped watching but kept a hold on the deck. After a while, i did something slighlty different but it felt more comfortable to me. I thought .... wait....! Did it again, felt good, but thought it cant be right so went to the mirror to check angles. Wow! I created something that no one had shown me. Now, im pretty sure im not the worlds first but, it was a worlds first for me! Im going to look out for some books 😊👍🏾👏🏾🙏🏾

Wonderful review. Sad that I missed this one when it came out. Love books that walk through the 'why' for the 'what'. This sounds like a great example.

I tried to reply to this yesterday, but it may have been blocked as potential spam. The website for the book is still up and seems to still be taking orders. If you do a search for helder guimaraes secret language, you should find posts in the usual magician forums with links to the site. It's not an inexpensive book, but you can tell as soon as it's in your hands that it isn't your average book.
