My grandmother did this, albeit while also unknowingly racist, saying things like, "That Spanish woman down the street with the red dress I've known for years." My response (I was 17 at the time, so a little over 30 years ago), "Eh, she's Cuban." Her:"That's what I said: Spanish." Or another time: "That Oriental woman has a nice hairdo." My response, "Oriental isn't appropriate, she's Asian." Her: "No, I am sure she is Chinese." Me: "No, she's Korean." My grandmother gave me a very suspicious side-eye for the better part of an hour.

@rosarybennett
@rosarybennett Жыл бұрын
@alicedoors4826 It's not that they asked. It's the lack of tactful language used. I was a small child the first time someone asked me this question. And I didn't know what to say or even what they meant. Imagine being a four year old finding out that people think you're bad depending on where your parents are from. For the record, my mother was born in South Korea and has been an American citizen for longer than I've been alive. So, yeah, it bothers me. Your response to my annoyance is not only an attempt to invalidate my feelings and experiences but is a veiled attempt to excuse racist microaggressions as acts of making polite conversation. If you need me to spell it out for you, I'm calling you a bigot.

"We gave birth to Pandas." 🤣 My husband is Caribbean. (Black and Spanish) I love seeing other interracial couples and multiracial people. 🥰 Because that's a big part of what America's supposed to be about. Different cultures coming together.
@jacklyneverage3881
@jacklyneverage3881 19 күн бұрын
If all the cultures came together, then you wouldn't have those distinct cultures that you claim to love so much. 😂😂😂 Everybody doesn't need to mix it up because we will be the same and that would be boring. What we should do is just respect and honor each other's differences. Mixing to a certain degree is natural when you have different cultures that interact. But, staying within your culture is the norm and is good too. The ones that stay within their culture continue their culture intact and keep the authenticity of their culture to pass down to their children. Those children, in turn, share it with others regardless of being married to Others or not. America is about sharing knowledge and information across cultures to build and sustain a society. Not about who you lay down with and have children with. Let's not confuse them two. IR is simply a matter of circumstance due to environment and access to mates, not the goal of coming together as Americans.

Too bad your name makes the same point, @happilydivorced. Because it really is a shame what is happening between men and women on social media these days and all the deep-seeded subconscious rage and hatred we feel towards one another. It's bad enough that politicians are capitalizing on people's vanity and insecurities with all the gender-bending dramatics. But for the Elites in Power to encourage people like Andrew Tate and his ideas on women. And those dozen or so popular social media women getting views by championing men's long-ignored plight, probably because they are sick of what feminism has become and how we brought this on ourselves. It's sad, really. But it makes watchable content. But unfortunately I bet a lot of people don't realize that there is a HUGE gender war going on. And not just trans. I'm talking about how Western Women act and behave and how men raised without a proper father act towards women and how women expect chivalry and protection and equality and to not be objectified AND, ETC, ETC the list goes on. And women are told to choose career over families and be a #bossbabe but they find it unfulfilling eventually when they are alone with their cats, but nope they don't need no man☝️ and it's all become this really sick twisted absolute mire of who's at fault and misogyny and androgyny and it's really perverse and It makes me so sad that the family unit is dying and so is marriage and the way people communicate is so cold and distant and lots of generational trauma is being healed but lots is created and I feel sad about it. Wow. I didn't know I had that in me when I started commenting. Good thing you're a professional.
