Yep, he was here in Mobile, Alabama a couple months ago, signing stuff, giving tips and even CHEAP private lessons. I couldn't believe you got to spend 1on1 time with him teaching you for only $100. It's worth 10x that easy. He is so down to Earth and nice as can be, NO attitude or "you suck" feeling at all, even if you DO suck he'd never say it, just try his best to show you how to get better. Of course most people suck compared to him. lol I just had to ask him if he ever played with Vinnie Moore and he was like Oh sure, a lot, he's a really cool guy. Damn I would love to see those 2 playing together. Two of my all time biggest inspirations on one stage! I'd need to change underwear when they were done though, I'd crap myself for sure. lol

@Compass_- Bruh, it's cheap considering who you're getting personal 1 on 1 time with, and that he can actually play. He isn't some random music teacher showing you how to play who never accomplished anything. Sure, you could find someone less expensive, but it'd be a waste of money compared to spending time with someone like Michael. Getting three lessons with someone cheaper for the cost of one lesson might be ok, or it could also teach you bad habits that will set you back for years.

Hey Michael, your exactly right when you tell players they need to learn how to play their best licks slow and precise. I found this out years ago when I got into flat picking. Learning licks from people like Tony Rice and Bryan Sutton took me to a whole different level of doing what I have always loved. Growing up on Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen I was floored when I started to learn stuff like Beaumont Rag. It's a whole different beast to conquer but when you do it takes you to a different level of skill. Enjoyed your video very much! God Bless

1:24 …so true. You don’t really realize it until you start analyzing fast riffs that you play..whether it’s a solo or just a sick fast rhythm riff…once you play them slow and smooth it really does help you play those riffs “faster and sounding better” after playing them “slower and steady” ….awesome tip!

I was always a thumb flicker. I called it "trigger picking". Thumb and first finger flexing and extending together. I always had great results with that. Until I had an accident to my right wrist leaving me with lots of scar tissue. I had to try many different positions before I could get back up to speed. But I eventually got close. Trigger picking worked great for me then and I still use it, but I also switch it up while playing. Anyway. Mike has always been a great inspiration to me and I hope you all listen to his teachings. But don't be afraid to experiment now and than. Love you Mike, god bless, and thanks for all your wisdom. See you on the live circuit again once this virus shit goes away.

I love this stuff. I have every single booklet, cassette tape, cd, vhs tape and dvd that has ever been made since Metal Method showed up in the back of the magazines. MAB has been a huge influence in my playing for ages and it never ceases to amaze me that he is every bit as good as he ever has been, if not better. I unfortunately had to have my wrist rebuilt after a fall at work so I am kind of starting over again. However, the first thing I did when my surgeon gave me the ok to start putting pressure on it again, was grab the old Speed Kills DVDs. I was at an extremely limited range of motion but it actually helped me to utilize more of my forearm and hand while keeping my wrist rigid without gripping the shit out of my pick like I used to do. i couldn't due to my tendons having to be released from scar tissue which took 6 months and tons of physical therapy. I actually have played better and faster since the accident now that I'm bionic. lol. But seriously, thanks for everything MIke!
