Michael Angelo Batio

Күн бұрын

An excerpt from The Michael Angelo Batio Star Licks video. Originally released on video in January of 1987, this is documented as the very first “shred” guitar instructional program, ever! Michael shows never before seen concepts in this DVD that have stood the test of time and are now commonly used techniques in today’s electric guitar playing. Sit back, relax and enjoy a piece of music history, a moment in time with young Michael Angelo Batio, at his absolute best, showing the world for the first time, his amazing gifts on guitar!
From the 1987 edition: Now, for the first time ever - this uniquely gifted guitarist puts his exceptional talent to work for you! Michael carefully takes you step-by- step, demonstrating his unique picking style in dazzling virtuosic displays, coupled with “sweep” technique for arpeggios. He covers ground never before explored on any audio or video to date. Michael, who taught guitar for over 7 years, employs many of the important tips and fingering exercises that he personally developed. He explains his famous under-over hand technique and gives you a chance to sit back and enjoy footage from a live concert performance. Michael will show you his custom made, incredible “Double-Guitar.” It is the only one like it in the world. He plays left handed, right handed, left handed, criss-crossed over the neck, he plays both guitars at the same time in harmonies and criss-crossed at the same time. Michael takes you through each of the exercises and licks twice, once at a regular tempo and once slowly. The booklet (which is hand written by Michael) comes with easy to follow diagrams, which correspond, exactly to your Master Series tape (DVD.) This is truly a unique opportunity for you to receive a “private guitar lesson” from one of today’s finest, exciting and most versatile guitarists.

Yep, he was here in Mobile, Alabama a couple months ago, signing stuff, giving tips and even CHEAP private lessons. I couldn't believe you got to spend 1on1 time with him teaching you for only $100. It's worth 10x that easy. He is so down to Earth and nice as can be, NO attitude or "you suck" feeling at all, even if you DO suck he'd never say it, just try his best to show you how to get better. Of course most people suck compared to him. lol I just had to ask him if he ever played with Vinnie Moore and he was like Oh sure, a lot, he's a really cool guy. Damn I would love to see those 2 playing together. Two of my all time biggest inspirations on one stage! I'd need to change underwear when they were done though, I'd crap myself for sure. lol

@Compass_- Bruh, it's cheap considering who you're getting personal 1 on 1 time with, and that he can actually play. He isn't some random music teacher showing you how to play who never accomplished anything. Sure, you could find someone less expensive, but it'd be a waste of money compared to spending time with someone like Michael. Getting three lessons with someone cheaper for the cost of one lesson might be ok, or it could also teach you bad habits that will set you back for years.

I'm not a fan of many BC Rich models but I sure would love to have that one. It would compliment my Jackson RR V and LP Studio nicely, they're both the same color body and hardware, though I'm about to change my V to gold hardware. I do have variety though, my Ibanez S is a nice sparkly green and my PRS is a beautiful burgundy stained pillow (or quilt I get them confused) top maple CE24 w doves. But I'm going to sell the PRS, I hate the 5 position twin humbuckers, the only thing that sounds good is the bridge in phase, the rest are crap (to me). Or maybe I'll just put some DiMarzios in it. I saw a video on here with a guy that claimed pickups are pickups, aftermarkets are a scam. I haven't laughed so hard since I heard someone say MAB has no melody. Some people. LMAO I left a comment saying buy a 1975 Epiphone then put some EMGs in it and then tell me you can't tell the difference! lol

Hey Michael I wanted to ask you a question. I love playing guitar but I like playing bass and drums too. And I'm only okayish in all these instruments. What do you recommend ? Should I focus on only one instrument ??

I play drums & guitar....I'd like to learn more. Never did people like Mike Oldfield, Stevie Wonder & Dave Grohl any harm to play multiple instruments - go for it.

Excellent tips here Michael! Already incorporated into my playing and in minutes I’m seeing an improvement in my picking technique.

I think Paul Gilbert watched your video. That last lick is the bread and butter of his shredding technique.

Yes. I released this first and never got the credit due. This exercise is an important part of my teaching and methodology. He should have given me credit for it.

I don't why is that. Is pretty obvious that Michael was the originator of most, if not all of those approaches and techniques in metal. And is mostly never mentioned by others. Credit to which credit deserves.

Michael Angelo - somebody introduced me to your music back in the day before youtube and I only got a small taste of what you do. You are every bit as good as the legendary players you emulate in the tribute videos and a worthy entry in the pantheon of great guitarists. Best to you and rock on!

Hey Michael, your exactly right when you tell players they need to learn how to play their best licks slow and precise. I found this out years ago when I got into flat picking. Learning licks from people like Tony Rice and Bryan Sutton took me to a whole different level of doing what I have always loved. Growing up on Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen I was floored when I started to learn stuff like Beaumont Rag. It's a whole different beast to conquer but when you do it takes you to a different level of skill. Enjoyed your video very much! God Bless

I definitely understand the part about keeping the fingers rigid. But where is the speed coming from? The wrist? The elbow joint? The forearm? Some combination?

Love that you got you a channel Micheal, i met you long ago in Blacksburg rocket music store when you came to do a demo for some guitar company that makes your 4 neck X neck. My friend bought the one you played, he is a shredder and im more of blues, bluegrass player. Watching you play that night was great, but talking to you and getting to drink some coffee and talk shop was something ill never forget, and appreciate you forever and whenever someone says anything about playing fast and precise i always bring your name up to this day.

im 57 and my whole life ive been pummeld with physicle barriers.ive completed many challenges in my life that im proud of and now i finally have the mentality to challenge myself and my differances to familiarize my self with the electric guitar!its always been a dream of mine and im ready to commit mysef my heart my pride and my courage which by the way are outstanding! to take on this new chapter in my life. im a lefty with long spindaly fingers. your mentality is so much like mine its crazy!!!tremilo-intelligent focused reckless abandonment im focusing on short simple tecnnics till i nail it! and not worring abought doing songs and trying my best to keep my eyes on the picking hand going up and down the picking strings hitting each one up and down over and over again and also drifting the pick up and down the pick board trying to find that sweet spot were my pick can settle in also im being aware that every time i pick up this guitar with your simple philosiphy there is always a improvement in my learning even though its so small ill look for it and find it!because im not confused with unneccessery mental baggage ty again your my insperation !
