Are we supposed to hold on to the contraction during all the breaths or can we keep contracting and letting go
@yogalap
@yogalap 3 ай бұрын
@@PowerMindset07 Namaste. You can keep contracting and letting go, normally it is not held for more than 10-30 seconds at a time or for the length of one breath hold. That being said, there are all kinds of ways in which you can apply this bandha (pulsing, after the inhale, after the exhale, and so on) and there are more guided full pranayama practices to be found in our Breath is Life course in which more things will become clear, see the link below. Peace, love and blessings 🙏 yogalap.com/courses/breathwork-pranayama

Daily for a minimum of 5 minutes... 3x per day until you feel the subtle bandha which doesn't actually involve the Anus or perineum at all. You should at least strive to isolate away from the abdomen and anus... both will inhibit the actual lock. And if you're a woman, the location is different as well...

Hey I'm brand new but determined to learn. One of my inhibitors is my chronic overthinking. I have a serious question that may seem lewd, but I promise it's not intended that way. As a male,when I'm attempting the lowest muscle contraction/lock,does PROPER practice involve my testicles rising close to my body as I contract? Or am I doing something wrong?

We breathe everything out and hold moolah bandha. Contract from lowest muscles, all the way up into a vacuum with belly.. is this correct? 🙏🙏🙏❤️
@yogalap
@yogalap 4 жыл бұрын
With only moola bandha you can also do when you keep breathing in and out, it is just contracting the muscles around the sexual organs and perineum. To make it more strong you can do it with full exhalation and combine it with Uddiyana bandha to create full vacuum.

For how long should u hold it
@yogalap
@yogalap 6 жыл бұрын
Dear Rushank, that depends when you are doing the bandha. In some types of sitting meditations you hold it constantly, in others you just apply it with the exhalation, in others you make a pumping motion with the bandha at the muladhara chackra. In some asanas you can hold it throughout the asana. Some yogis hold it for hours at a stretch to rise their energies through the chackra system. In other words, it depends when and what for you do Moola Bandha. If you can ask the question more specific I can answer more specific . Peace and blessings.

This is just the type of exercise that has caused hypertonic pelvic floors in women. Contracting those muscles caused me to be unable to urinate as the muscles were too tight. Now I have learnt exercises to RELAX that area every day. How come you are not teaching that they must be relaxed and giving instruction to relax the pelvic floor after doing these?

Hatha yoga was intented to be Practiced by the great saints who wanted to unify with the absolute. They are very risky. Being a Hindu brahmin , I have always been advised to perform those acts under direct supervision of an expert. Better if you have a guide.

Don't crave for worldly desires always. The bandhas are used to awaken the kundalini, thus unifying with the absolute. Some western persons may think this irrational, but persons like Shankaracharya, Ramanuja, Sri Ramakrishnadeva, Swami Vivekanandaji etc. had done this. Mulabandha helps one to get rid of bodily desires & pleasures and focus on the absolute. Don't remain worldly & bodily always. :)

Sorry mate, but wrong. The correct way to learn and master Mool Bandha is to learn to first ISOLATE CONTROL only of the urinary muscle (Vajroli/Sahajoli) then only the anus (Ashwini), then only the perineum (Mool). For beginners, each individual muscle is contracted on a slow, long inhalation and relaxed on a slow, long exhalation. This is because people carry residual and chronic tensions in their pelvis which must be relieved before learning applying retentive bandhas. ONLY WHEN you have full control of EACH of those 3 muscles individually, should you then practising activating JUST the perineum muscle for Mool Bandha with breath retention. Your "private parts" have nothing to do with it -- male or female.
