Do This Tip To Stop Drive Rush Pressure Easily.

People like to joke that Street Fighter 6 neutral boils down to "Low Forward, Drive Rush the game". Although it's a joke, the reason people feel this way is because it's a strong option. At least it seems that way. There is a way to stop this very easily, or at least keep people much more honest about how they structure their pressure when they spend 3 bars. Great catch! Yeah just checked it and Chun's 2mk x drive rush 2lk is a true block string. If you're going to try to DP after her 2mk then make sure you are not pressing forward during it! Her 4/6MP into 2LK after Drive Rush isn't a true block string though and you can always DP if she does 4/6MP into drive rush.

​​@@MikeyDLuffyI'm only plat 5 but I don't think cancel Dr is good meter use on chun li over OD moves. Od kicks is safe on block. Od kikoken is a reset and very+. Od sbk is a launcher. Od air legs is buffed now too. Od kikoken goes thru fireballs and is fast. Od tensho is used a lot for invul reversal. She uses a lot of meter blocking too. Raw/parry drive rush is worth it for her overhead or medium kick or cross up. There's not a lot left unless you're one of those master players who just memorize one combo and then make that work for any poke you land on your new char. The one I see is the standing Med punch, back heavy punch, stance light kick, m. sbk. It doesn't even do a ton of damage over other combos with the modifier for cancel Dr. Not worth 3 bars and burnout again.

@@jrg305 I play her, got to master long ago but it means nothing. I agree on something with you: spending 3 bars on dr cancel is normally not good use of meter. If you have full meter and you are good catching them standing, maybe. I'd rather do cr.mk buffered into OD legs plus oki or I'd play fireball/poke/antiair game. If they actually play neutral Chun li has astonishing normals, to poke them from afar and also to punish them extremely hard for throwing low moves. Bad thing is these DR people trying to force their way in with no intention to play anything clean.

@@joshford256 it's more that people have figured out you can option select drive rush pressure, you input DP and if they do something like grab or a slower strike it comes out and if they do a blockstring you don't DP even though you've input it

The game isn't simple. The problem is that some of the most effective strategies in this game are ridiculously simple to execute (drive rush, throw loops, full screen corner carry, etc). It reduces barriers to entry, sure, but it in turn makes otherwise low skilled players stronger. Tricky balancing act for sure

Drive Reversal. Doesn't deal as much damage and doesn't give oki, but with the latest patch it's also significantly less risky than an EX DP because it's not that minus on block, whereas if someone were to read your EX DP, you're going to get blown up.

There's character specific ways to to bait out this OS. Ed can kk command back dash or use his own DP, Kim can teleport to dodge DP depending on character (she has to OD teleport to dodge kens and even then the timing is to tight for resources lost), Aki can now low snake step, install supers theoretically can beat it if timed right, and I'm sure theres others I'm not thinking of. BUT if you time the OS right, DP should still not come out during these fake drive rush cancel scenarios, another BUT you would have to buffer the motion and manually stop when you see the fake drive rush. So another layer.

You don't need to hold down to keep blocking if it is a true block string. If you block the first hit and then let go of the controller you will still block the whole thing. The exception is that you still need to be holding down to block low attacks.

The attacker can hit confirm their crouching medium kick if they drive rush cancel it. So they jab if it's blocked, and they do a bigger button if it hits. Then it's completely safe, and you get still get the larger reward if it hits.

Yup! And I imagine that will become the norm down the line, but right now, even at 1600-1700 MR, I've noticed people do fake drive rush strings on block all the time. That being said, as the defender you still pose no risk for inputting the DP in the situation that they are confirming the crmk was blocked.

Well, heavy buttons have better true block strings anyway and steal more meter, so drive rushing those are more useful anyway. You mostly buffer mediums into driverush light as a low risk callout. And if it doesn't hit, you try to shimmy to enforce a strike throw

Blanka has a character specific DP bait and that's cr.mk/mp -> DRC -> 6KKK. Blanka will drive rush cancel and instant hop through any DP or flash kick. I like to do it if I know my opponent auto pilots DP/Flask kick's any drive rush cancel.

Ken is one of the only (few?) characters that can feint low forward with low short. Doing low forward into DRC is a huge meter waste if you don’t have the confirm, I’d only do it if I was desperate to get in. The OD DP can be baited too, and then you’re dead.

Drive Reversal is a decent option as well depending on what they cancelled into drive rush, but it loses to more things. In some examples of someone doing Drive Reversal into a jab, they can usually recover in time to block the Drive Reversal in time and then punish you.

No, if you are going to spend 2 drive meter you might as well do OD DP to do actual damage. Drive reversal is a noob friendly option with lower rewards.

It is good, especially since the latest patch. It's obviously less damage than an EX DP, but it's also significantly less risky because you're not as minus on block. And obviously it goes without saying that some characters simply don't have an EX DP, so outside of spending super, Drive Reversal is the only way.

You can do the green dash (drive rush) after using a special cancellable normal and then pressing parry after/during the normal.
