You can tell the stringier moss can grow in either water or on land because it changes form in different environments. There are a lot of Sphagnum and Fissidens species that can grow in either way a lot of the Sphagnums really appreciate an acidic environment though ," think peat bog." I really like your shows!

it looks so beautiful. i like most of your videos, you are so talented in finding the right balance in your aquarium set ups. this one is so pleasing for the eyes. i try a lot of stuff you do. like making my own flake food or growing different types of moss and other land plants under water. but sadly here in my country it is illegal to keep creatures with a spinal column in containers under 14 and so gallons. for this example i could build me a aquarium garden but it has to be larger for guppys. or i could do the same size and put some snails and shrimp in there. anyways, great to see good new content from one of my favorite youtubers.

Thank you!! I actually enjoyed this one a lot - it served for many interesting projects and I made great observations in it. I've been planning to build another one on larger scale with some new futures. Still looking for appropriate enclosure. But there are two more simpler prototypes already in process ;)
@filamas2 жыл бұрын
@@4me You can make one similar to your HD aquarium, having the same materials, plexiglass and same size. You may need to place a additional transparent bowl and add the aquarium bits in there so the dirt from the terrarium won’t mix with the water and have the water spread everywhere. You can literally add everything you have to make the paludarium: grindal worms, springtails, isopods, grass, Mazus, Aloe(if you still have it) moss, cholla wood, rocks, bladder or ramshorn snails, seed shrimps, cyclopes, guppy grass, gravel, etc.
@4me2 жыл бұрын
@@filamas Yes. That is the plan. I've been learning about critters to include. Springtails and isopods on land and seed shrimp and scuds in water - all breed and serves as food for fish. The present problem is to find an amphibia that would feed on any of those critters/ fish and be small enough to breed in relatively small tank with the narrowest side up to 35 cm. So, anything that is shorter than about 10-11 cm as adult.

Hey Michael. I love the content of ur vids, and I have made a lot of the experiments that u've also made. The thing is, you use plastic containers which, I fully understand, bcs theyre easy to work with. But I have doubt about the plastic containers. I have read online that it is very much likely that the plastic containers will leak micro plastic into the water which I am not a fan of myself, not that it affects my appinion when it comes to ur vids, but I think like I presume u do as well that plastic is more easy to work with, so do u have any sources or information that can tell that it isnt a problem or dangerous for the animal. Maybe u could do some more efficient research than I can, or maybe u dont think that it is a problem at all. If u can maybe prove me otherwise it would be great. I hope u understood my sentences.
@4me5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question! I don't have necessary equipment and knowledge to do research on this subject to tell you for sure. However I did online search. The information is actually available directly on websites of companies producing plastic bottles/containers and also, many independent organization provide open access to scientific reports about it. I am not going to provide any direct links for number of reasons. But, as far as I know the worst health effect on human was shown in studies where plastic bottles with water/soda were left exposed to direct sunlight for prolonged period of time. I wonder how those scientist figure out that it increases chances of getting cancer...and they were not specific forms of cancer. The point I got from it is to avoid placing bottles with beverage on direct sunlight. For this matter - no aquariums with fish should be exposed to direct sunlight. Another side of this subject is water contamination. Many people get it confused. Plastic contaminates water not by dissolving in water - the danger is in the opposite. Plastic does not dissolves in water. It gets broken and wild animals suffer from swallowing plastic particles and such. Also, it blocks the light and so on... That is what scientist refer to as water contamination by plastic.

This video could be of interest for you to check on in this regard: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2iYnqaQdsald6M Going back to aquarium garden - presents of snails, fish and etc is necessary to provide plants with CO2. The top cover should not be used to seal the aquarium. I've been working on building small size self-sustaining aquariums for fish for couple years now. How do you remove the stickers from stubborn surfaces? Where it tears off and leaves some annoying residue.
@4me11 ай бұрын
It is he worse scenario when the sticker tears off leaving residue. I prefer to stop pulling on the torn part and start pulling from opposite end - it's always better to take the sticker without leaving any traces. Removing left residue takes much more time and efforts. I use eraser or some kind of rubber. Paper towel may take out softened residue. Always move residue in one direction to the edge where it's easier to pick it off.

I beg to differ. Pls watch his other videos and you will see his Guppies definitely thriving AND multiplying
@Elver-gl_rga5 жыл бұрын
@@lifesjourney65 Thanks for disagreeing respectfully. But think about a puppy in a 100 gallon tank. Sure it will live but it won't be happy and live life to the fullest
@rp101aquatics65 жыл бұрын
@@Elver-gl_rga i know you are thinking that but his guppies do thrive they reproduce well and he breeds a dwarf guppy variety. At first i though t that same as you but now i dint think that any more thriving depends on filtration and biodiversity his tanks are very diverse and he doesnt ever do water changes think about it all awusrium owners change water so to have one where you don't need to change water must be a really good one

Very nice little gardens! Maybe you could try those "air plants" on the top gardens ? goo.gl/images/Go2BaC I have them sitting on jars and little containers by my kitchen window. The like the humidity from the sink, and I run them under water now and then so they do not dry out. No soil is needed. The window also doesn't receive direct light so it seems perfect for them. Always love your videos 😊

When and how do you change water,?

I don't change water in my aquariums since the end of 2016. Check videos on this playlist for details on all my previous and present aquarium fish care routines: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZPHnplsa72IibM All the best!

Thanks, so u add water, when it's evaporated. And what food and water supliments you provide to tank
@4me5 жыл бұрын
@@archanachaudhary7619 That is correct - I add water when it's evaporated. Here comes one of the interesting parts: I come up with aquarium designs reducing water evaporation greatly! The water level in 2 liter self-sustaining plastic bottle aquarium remains the same for almost 2 years :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2STe6J6asaho6s In aquarium garden tanks as shown in this video, I spray plants 4 times a week - there is no point to add anymore water into aquarium too ;) I add in all aquariums only homemade fish food: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qai4mZ6jecqUaqc Interestingly in this regard is that now I use mostly what grows in my aquariums to make the food. Basically, it is already self-sustaining system in which I perform a role of distributor of goods :) All the best!

Hey, me again, got inspired and I made a nano tank added driftwood and shrimp and plants with no co2,filter or anything only light. But my tank is getting some web kind of thing it's not green in colour it's white and that to it is on wood mostly and covering my plants too... Why this is happening? Am I providing too much of light? Or anything else...please please answer....
