Do you paper tune your own bow or do you prefer to have it tuned at a pro shop?

@@MichaelMiddletonTBH I own a press and tune myself, luckily my Lift 33 didn't require top hats. I have own just about all the manufacturer's and still am a Bowtech fan, probably will go back to one when the Maglite riser comes out.

@@charlesvinch595 Awesome! I’ve been tempted to buy a press. But I’ve been able to accomplish everything I need (except top hats) with the Stay Afield System. (I guess, technically, it’s a “press” but I can’t use it to remove both string and cables at the same time.) A good press at home would certainly be more convenient. The SAS is great to have in the field, though. 👍

I'm shooting the V3X. I'd like to upgrade to this bow but it's a lot of money for a bow that's a little lighter, a little faster and a little quieter. I have a press so I don't need the limb shift although it would make micro tuning easier.

The V3X is a great shooter. Hard to justify changing when you already have a really solid platform!

Bowtech pushed all the bow manufacturer's to create a tuning system! They have had it for years now and I'm a Mathews lift owner.

I have a problem with not sticking to one bow. I know I should because then I could get really good with it. But for the most part I can pick any bow and finish in the top five. Right now I’m trying to stick with the lift 33 and so far so good. I really want to get the new Mathew’s but I think of my goal of sticking to one bow for more than three weeks. If the new lift only has those minor changes I don’t see why I should spend that much
@MichaelMiddletonTBH11 күн бұрын
I don’t think that’s a bad strategy. The Lift is a great shooting bow. I’m not sure how they’ll improve on it going forward…but I’m always anxious to find out! 😜

Great information Michael. Thanks for sharing. I prefer 33” bows as well. I’m still in the V3X 33 and it’s my favorite bow that I’ve ever shot. Thank goodness I’ve never had to mess with the top hats to date. I know guys that have had to though and I’m sure that my time is coming I’m sure.

That V3X was a great shooting bow! I know a few people who prefer it over any of the newer models (Phase 4, Lift and Lift X). I HATED the Top Hats! I didn't elaborate in the video, but B2B actually had to change out the TH's for me three different times (over three different trips) to get it dialed in right! It was frustrating, to say the least.

It's so simple a child could do it. Just have to have the tools (a press and allen wrench(s) and a willingness to learn about your equipment. One becomes a better archer for it.

I'm still shooting the V3X as well. Hard to justify the expense to replace a great bow that's only three years old.

@@FrankDog-d5r I got a press this year and have all the top hats for my v3x. It really is simple to change them out. I do like the idea of micro adjustability though. I'll probably shoot this one for another few years before the next upgrade.

@@torreyintahoe Absolutely! I am not against the tech, I love it. But some are overhyping the tech, it's been out in one form or another with Bowtech and Elite for a while now. I am going to order/purchase a Lift 33X, orders are not arriving till March 2025. I have a V3X 33 currently and it's a good bow, the Lift had material issues so I stayed away till they figured it out.

I am looking at the Lift 29.5, I am 5-9, 27.5 DL, and 50-60 lbs. Would that be better option?
@MichaelMiddletonTBH12 күн бұрын
Are you looking for the Lift or the Lift X? Either way, the 29.5 version may be a better option for you (based on other people I know that are similar size/DL that went with the 29.5). Do you have a Mathews Dealer/Pro Shop near you? The best bet would be to shoot both and see which fits you best. Thanks for watching!

@@HillCountrySwimbaits They are essentially the same bow, except for the Limb Shift tuning system (instead of Top Hats) and "reinforced" limbs. If self-tuning (without a press) isn't important to you, then the original Lift would be a good option.

When people say 'game changer', I stop listening right there. Ridiculous thing to say so liberally. Any 'archer' that doesn't work on their own bows, doesn't have a press, why listen to them?
@MichaelMiddletonTBH11 күн бұрын
How often do you need/use a bow press? I set up (and tune) a new Mathews bow (sometimes two) every year. I've managed without owning a press. Of course, I have the Stay Afield System (SAS) to loosen my strings/cables, but on the rare occasion I truly need a press, it's more economical to use the one at the local pro shop. With the Limb Shift, I no longer need a press to change top hats. In fact, I can no longer think of a single reason I would NEED a $500+ press. That's, well, "a game changer!"
@FrankDog-d5r11 күн бұрын
@@MichaelMiddletonTBH Thanks for the edited 2nd response, the first was pretty lame accusing me of being miserable. If you think the occasion is rare that you truly need a press, again, you don't know how to work on or tune a bow. Why do you think shops have them, just for fun? Newsflash, a shop can not tune a bow to someone as well as that person tuning the bow to themselves. There are plenty of uses/needs for a press besides moving cams, but that probably eludes the 'game changer' mentality as you don't know how to tune a bow. Thanks for the useless video, enjoy the Mathews.

Thats a steal for a great press! I agree that press is paramount. How many years have you paid the shop to do it? Time driving to and from?Cost to change strings? Press is an easy tool to justify. Money aside, it’s crucial to tune your bow to you. What happens when your strings stretch? They all do. It will save you time, money and you’ll learn things about tuning you never knew. It is the next step in your archery journey my dude. EVERY bow will creep out of tune if you shoot it enough. When a limb cracks? sorry I couldn’t resist lol. Buy a press you will not regret it.
