These critiques are golden. The way you incorporate your knowledge of posing, lighting, lenses, and editing options and show us how to improve common problems in the moment or in processing is awesome. The before and after you edit is also very helpful as well as your reference images. Thanks and keep it up!

I learn so much from these, more so than most anything. Not from just my own photos, which I am so very thankful for, but the CC given for ALL of the photos is so informative. I don't find much of the info subjective to any single image or pose, but rather something very useful that can be applied across the board. So very honored to have had a few images chosen by you. You do an amazing job!

Answer to the feedback on my three @ 24:35, the green tint I totally missed. I'm going to need to calibrate my monitor or something. The wide angle and being so close, the space is very confining and I'm working to improve that but even more, be more creative. It totally makes sense to bend the leg closest to camera. I didn't see it until post and kick myself because personally, I feel she nailed it! Thank you!

At 12:30- I like the colors. Hewr hair is red, which goes with the red drapes, etc. Her tattoos are mostly blue and coordinates with the bed spread. And, i like the contrast but complimenting blue and red that's emphasized in the blue/red combination in the little carpet. The whole thing works for me.

12:21 spot on on fixing the blankets, that blue really murders the photo - the red-orange-neutral transition left to right would make it so much better. But one other thing I would do: get rid of that carpet! It doesn't match anything D:

Nice... Some fine photos with friendly and useful constructive criticism, nicely done. At first I wanted to throw in my twopence into quite a few (but who am I!), but I really want to say that I love how the "riseboudoir" photo has this beautiful intriguing accord, symmetry even, between the sea in the picture on the wall and the pose of the model. Loving it.

Great critique! I hope you don't mind one humble suggestion... It would be good to choose a handful of photos that you think are amazing and give the reasons why the photo is great. I think that it is also helpful to hear what makes a photo work and why you find it amazing. You do point out what does work in many of these photos, but I'm saying choose 4 or 5 of the "best of the best" and let us know why. I truly enjoy your videos and find them extremely helpful, so thank you for the work that you do!

Thank you so much man this was super helpful. My girlfriend let me shoot her the other night in my first ever Boudoir shoot! It was so much fun and only my third photo shoot ever (to say I'm a rookie is an understatement). No formal training just remembering some basics of what my Dad taught me when I was a little boy. One of my two lights didn't have a power chord (they were gifts) so I supplemented with a reading lamp lol. It was fascinating to play with the two light sources and different angles. Really interesting. Luckily for me my girlfriend is such a beautiful woman and she's an absolute champ for letting me fumble all over the place like an idiot for an hour lol. But, she loved the shots and so did I, really proud of the results. Plus, she wants to keep shooting to give me reps and keep learning. This may sound stupid to a lot of people but I feel not having a formal education is serving me for now as I don't have any preconceived notions about how to shoot. It's all about trying things, experimenting, and taking lots of shit shots haha. I learn so many things from each shoot. I think it would be wise to start a note book to track what I'm learning. Sorry for the rant, just an excited newbie. Cheers.

Tilt: The ship's sinking! :-) at 19;00 it's called keystoning. It can be fixed in photoshop if it's not too bad, Too much, and there is stretching of the lower half of the photo; at 23:40- the near hand is in focus, but her face is slightly out of focus. That should be in focus, and her body is way out of focus.

at 18:50- It's called keystoning. ON1 Photo Raw and Photoshop have fiiters to correct that. it's a simple fix. One caveat is that the correction causes distortion. A l;ittle isn't noticable, but a lot wit warp the subject. Keystoning is primarily caused by the camera being tilted up or down, but it's also caused by the wideness of the focal length.

At 12:40: The blue is cool. The photo would be better with color grading if a little red and/or magenta was added. Change the blue to a more warn purplish color & leave the rest as is. * At 18:50: The keystoning can be fixed in Photoshop or most other software. However, watch for distortion in the model. fixing something in one place often creates unpleasant distortion someplace else. * 23:35: The only thing in focus - or almost in focus - here is her left hand that's nearest the camera. Everything else is out of focus. Serious mistake, unless the photo is about the hand.

It’s interesting to see what men think is sexy vs women. For example the woman whose face you said didn’t match, unless she’s a professional model, it’s very difficult to perfect a “sexy” face. Perhaps that is her sexy face. It may not have worked for you but most people would not of course pose like this in a genuinely sexy setting. Generally I think women I know do prefer moods and context too, having more to the image than just the body (is the windows and walls) feed into telling the story of a scenario which is sexy for us. In most of these the photographer says hone in on the body - but idk if that’s necessarily always the right thing to do. It depends if you’re selling photos of bodies, or photos that tell stories.

I do think the plant adds interest, perhaps a little color blending would make it match a bit better, but a great design after all. 22:45 That lady looks legless. 27:34 Isn't that killing all the shadows? W hen I burn in PS, especially on pale colors, it seems to add black or gray looking like a smudge rather than darkening the color. Dodge looks fine.

Hey Michael awesome reviews. The picture @20:04 the one you mentioned the photographer might have used a ladder, you didn't say how could you fix that image. I assume keeping her more on focus by changing the aperture? and lower the camera height? thx

The fix to me is just changing the angle. to get lower and that is what helps!

At 7:08 you explained that it is kind of unnatural and it looks uncomfortable ... But at 8:22 liked it where she lies on the floor, however the floor is also wood, and also it is bear or empty (compared to 7:08). Doesn't it also look uncomfortable ? What i am getting to is why 8:22 rather than 7:08 ?

That is a good question! Looking back, I think she actually looks more comfortable in 8:22, plus her hands make a little more sense. But I see where you're coming from.

I think it's more common to lie on the floor than on something just below the window with curtains ... I mean it makes sense to me to be lying on the floor to relax but under a window in that little space doesn't look really pleasing..
