I own a Nikon D750 and have taken more than 9,000 different objects the past 2 years. This is the Best tutorial Video on Focusing among the Top 20 KZbin Photographers. Hands down you are a 10 and the rest is like 7 and 8's. Your videos are extremely comprehensive and detailed. You present the camera's Use Case in details just as if your were the Architect of the Camera System. 15 out of 20 Top KZbin Photographers are just about "the Gear". Kudos to you for spending the tremendous amount of effort to creating Presentations, Screen shots of Camera in Live View, and the emphasis you place on get the "precise" information across to the viewer.

This tutorial is THEE best, in just a few short minutes I had my camera set up perfectly, AND I learned about the 3D focus, which is a game changer! A very easy to follow and visually helpful tutorial! Thank you so much!

Michael, hi.. I'm based in the Midlands of the U.K. I previously owned a Nikon D7000...I've since given this to a friend. I was shooting at a former colleagues wedding and some of my party got hold of the D7000 and, with sensitivity, they inadvertently change settings. I could not get these back due to lack of time and self education with the equipment. I then upgraded to the D750 and being retired have promised myself to make time to understand this fabulous equipment more closely. Focussing and setting of, previously, I found difficult. I googled this difficulty. It brought me to you and your tutorial, which I have benefited enormously from and, in subscribing, I hope to learn more from other tutorials. With thanks...

[May 2018] Very useful video. Thank you! I recently graduated from a Nikon D70 to a D750, and this is very useful. Also, a huge THANK YOU for using the video time smartly (i.e., not taking up time especially at the beginning talking about irrelevant stuff or wasting too much time "setting up the tutorial," and getting right to the relevant points). Nicely constructed tutorial. Thank you.

Makes me wonder if you have 'back button focusing' set on your camera, which would make the AE-L/AF-L button on the back of the camera used to focus with? That is how I have mine set up, so check this out. Micheal has presented all these options very well in this video.

Similar for me... I understand AF options, but my shop has 5 different body types with both Canon and Nikon. Its not so much me understanding how AF functions work, which was explained very well, it is more "how do I control the settings on this particular model." Very helpful video.

I just shot my buddy's wedding and at some point during that shoot, I must've accidentally hit the Continous AF(but prefer single point). I knew I had the continuous AF on but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to turn it back to the Single Point option...so here I am on youtube trying to figure out how to switch it back. I forget that the focus selector is also a button in the center while depressing it allows the selection between the Continuous & Single AF...the other funny thing is that I have already gave this video a thumbs up from previously searching and learning this function. SO, more thumbs up for being there for me again! HAHAHAHAHA!

This is a tricky subject (for me). First, thank you for taking the time to break it up in comprehensible chunks. Second, the business of "where we allow the focusing system to find the subject" is not obvious: through my humble readings (please correct me if I'm wrong), the camera can only search within a pre-defined "grid" of 51 points (or 21 or 9 or Group of 4 or 1, the center of the image). When we move the "Focusing Point" around, using the Multi-Selector, we're really telling the camera to "look" through one of its particular 51 pre-defined focusing points. It cannot arbitrarily use any area of the image, only one of those points. It took me a while to wrap my head around this notion... Now I have a better grip of this advanced system but I surely miss the days of the "Split finder"...
