"flip lcd unless you're shooting photos above your head". This is why you can't rely on reviewers. If you shoot anything low to the ground like newborn, pets or macros of flowers, the lcd is a godsend. Also when I shoot weddings, I like to get a shot of the couple from ground level with the church ceilings in a wide composition.

@@NOKOT51 Great to know. Although I dislike Sony colors, I was so tempted by the α7 III when it came out, but decided to wait for any interesting deals later on. THANK GOD I waited all these months. Nikon discounted the D750, and B&H currently has a deal with the D750, Nikon battery grip, SD card, additional battery and a bag for $1396.95. I could not resist. That's just under $200 more than what I spent on my Nikon D70 back in 2005 with an 28-80mm and a 70-300mm.

Many thanks for possibly the best camera review I have ever seen. Since I started in the days of the black & white darkroom I have seen a few:) You took the d750 through a difficult real world situation which really showed what the camera was capable of...both still & video. Then you provided the raw files for us to decide on them instead of wondering what the reviewers opinion really meant. Thank you very much for a review that actually answered all of my questions about this camera. I see one in my future :) Snuffy

Thank you for the awesome review! I bought my D750 10 days ago and even though I read many "low level short reviews" before and after my purchase yours hands down was the best. I have migrated from, not counting my Nikon film cameras, a D40 to a D90 to a D7100 and I finally made the leap to full frame, and the D750 was the right way to go. For me, there was too much controversy around the D600 and D610. I AM GLAD THAT I WAITED!!!!!

3 things I want to see in this, 1) The top CASIO type display has got smaller (When compared to D7000, D7100 & D7200) and I really miss seeing the detail in what i'm shooting at, Whether JPG, RAW or RAW + JPG. Because I switch the modes depending the situation so i have to now press the info button to see what I have selected currently. 2) I feel that the front grip is not fat enough, its great that they have increased the depth of the grip but I would like it would have been little bit fatter than what is right now. 3) Lastly I love the fact that movie record button can be changed to ISO change option, however I really don't like the fact that every time I press dual purpose button like ISO or WB the info display turns on, Specially when changing ISO which your certainly do almost all the time. Because when I'm looking through the view finder & change the ISO all of a sudden I can see the screen lit up. Wish there is a way to turn that off. Other than that, all I can say is WOW WOW WOW WOW!!! This camera just blows my pants away. The problem is when you have such a awesome, brilliant, spectacular, incredible, cool camera your expectations rise up more than it should be, therefore these minor details kinda get in your nerves. But its something I can live with, but without the D750 now I don't think I can live :)

about your comment on the af points at around 21:00 i would assume that the auto focus points are grouped closer to the center to fit dx lenses. when dx lenses are used the outer focus points would place closer to the edge of the frame ;D

The focuspoints are squised into middle because it is meant for later cropping in indesign when layouting a ex. Newspaper page. I know the frustrations of not being able to get into the edge. Good thing there is always manual focus which neatly is put on a turning switch on front left side facing the back of the camera your self. Besides that you can put ae-lock as af-on and turn camera to the side so you can get it out of focuspoint range. Third solution shoot dx-crop. The points fit in nicely there and the many pixels allow a nice cropping too.

To get the AF points more spread out in the viewfinder you need a bigger module and bigger secondary mirror. That would make the whole system MUCH more expensive and I am not even sure if that would fit into a Nikon body. So they really aren't spread out more on the DX cameras like my D7000. They just cover more of the sensor because it is smaller than a FX sensor and the viewfinder pretty much represents what the sensor sees. But anyway! Great review! I really like the that this camera fits in. It's "better than a D610, but not quite a D810".

the AF points being squashed is due to them using the same cam3500 module for DX and FX cameras, so while it's nicely spread out in DX camera, there will be all squashed in the middle on FX< they really need to develop FX specific CAM modules.

First Nikon Full Frame camera to have a pull out screen. Sony's A99 has had a tilt-swivel screen for 2 years now.
@VueeyLe9 жыл бұрын
+Maxwell Starr Sadly the A99 isn't a DSLR though, it is a mirrorless. I think many are still sticking away from Mirrorless cameras until the technology and etc matures more, especially in AF abilities
@MaxwellStarr9 жыл бұрын
+Vueey Le Technically speaking the A99 is still a DSLR. DSLR, meaning 'Digital Single Lens Reflex', means that there is a Reflex mirror that reflects light out of the viewing path to aid with framing and focusing. What's different is Sony's implementation of it, where the reflected light goes into an always-on focus system and the mirror never moves. Mirrorless implies no mirror at all, and he smaller size/shorter flange distance that comes with scrapping the mirror. Sony's branding of it as 'SLT' Single Lens Translucent' was unfortunate however because now you have plenty of people saying they're not DSLRs (they're not traditional DSLRs but still DSLRs). But the term 'Reflex' doesn't mean moving mirror, after all, the mirrors didn't move in TLR (Twin-Lens Reflex) cameras like the Rolleiflex.

The pull out lcd would be good for real estate images where you pull back as far into a corner as poss and room to correct distortion, up to now the vertical viewfinder attachment has been one of the only good quick options, this 'could' improve on this without twisting your back and neck around - I've not tested the actual screen yet.

Tilty Screens are important also for photos in my opinion. My photo that ended up being featured on the official flickr blog was possible because i was able to frame it correctly by using the tilty screen on my 70D. I agree that the d750 seems to be an awesome piece of equipment (with the right glass). In regards to the tilt screen, I find it very beneficial seeing as I'm not '6"4 for high shots or '4"2 for low shots. I have enough to buy a 750 but should I keep saving to get the d500 to be safe for sports or will the 750 be good enough? I'm leaning towards the d500 though because of the AF points, the buffer and because the technology is more recent than the 750 but I like the 750's depth of field and I feel it's better for portrait photography and weddings but not sure which route to go. I have one for 9 months ago. I regret it. It is unstable: - autofocus does not work at times; - my personal settings tend to disappear; - buffer is slow at times All this resulting in missing shots! I've had it send back to Nikon again! Also I had this "flare issue" so mine was already gone for 2,5 weeks. I have been shooting Nikon DSLR cameras since the Nikkormat FTN. They built solid cameras thoughout the years. Now, I do have my doubts. Not recommended, but hey: you choose

Thanks Jared, sound like the Nikon D750 might just be the Nikon I've been waiting to get next.

Hey Jared, I found that my D750 has a little bit of delay when I press the menu or playback button. Actually anything that has to do with waking up the LCD sometime has this 3 second delay before it shows anything on the screen. Do you have that problem too?

I shoot stills of pets from ground level. The screen tilt that you find not much use, is indispensable for this. There are other things to shoot from ground level. If your subject is interesting, the shot is enhanced by an angle that most don't get to experience.

Hey Jared! I have a Nikon D700 which is six years old but still working well. I need another camera for events and action photography so have been saving up for the D4s. What are your thoughts about a second lens for me. The D750 looks good but I also know the D4s is outstanding. I am doing wild horse photography so looking for more of an action camera. Plus event photography I can't switch between zoom and wide angle lens so I need two camera bodies.Thanks for any help.

great review, very informative so far I'm only half way thru. how is AF in video mode? there is touch on the LCD? really wondering how face detection works in video mode. i know it wouldn't make much sense in the video with so many faces and obstruction of helmets and all but wondering in general does face detection keep up with a face like the 70D does? thanks!!

Thanks for the image samples. This will definitely help me make a buying decision and whether I should switch to FX.
