Long distance survivor here - you won’t miss those days 😂😂 it’s a lovely sentiment and so so sweet but it’s not true. What is true is that you strengthen your communication skills and your sharing of your life with one another to build a stronger foundation for the future. The suck is worth it.
@arepurposedlifewithlaura1496 Жыл бұрын
Jordy is so very sweet. I think long distance would be terribly hard but I do also love my independence. Enjoy every phase of life and make the most of it. A longer video once a week or so would be great. I choose longer videos when cleaning the kitchen after dinner every evening.
@mellynn6623 Жыл бұрын
I'd love to see all the extra content! Maybe it just resonates with me because I also love things like organizing cabinets. 😅 Also really enjoying seeing how much happier and free you seem now, like your personality is really shining. This is my first time moving out of my parents and living alone and your vlogs, especially solo travel, have helped me try to embrace independence and try new things. ❤

I'm just over the one year mark of long distance, and I'm at the same point of I need to make a decision. 3-4 weeks apart is rough. I know what you're going through girl! But I want to do things according to my faith and God has kept telling me to wait. Time will tell!

I’m not deaf 🧏♀️ but I have taught myself asl and it paid off while I worked in the Covid unit with a few patients and I LOVED when you signed “happy girl” I wish they would make asl a second language in school as we grow up because it could be so universal!

My husband and I did long distance and I wished that time away so bad! But exactly as you said, we both talk about those days so fondly now and how special they were and how much we missed each other. Picking each other up from the airport, surprising each other, sweet gifts ❤️ now we don’t get a chance to miss each other and are so busy with life and baby. Savour these times as hard as they are 😃

More content sounds great! I'm a fan of both short and long vlogs. Also being in a healthy full-time relationship, even living together should never mean a loss of your independence, but you are young with a lot of life ahead of you, there is no rush. ❤

Jordy is so right, as a 32 y.o woman married and with a child, though I love my life I do miss that time in my life when I had my own apartment, got to decorate it how I like, did what I wanted when I wanted etc. now I have a family that comes first. Definitely enjoy this phase you are in because it does go by sooo fast!! (Trust me!) you are living in the “good ole days” but I can also understand you are wanting that stability in your relationship, so your feelings are definitely valid! As humans I think we just always long for that next step or thing. So we have to practice living in the moment and being thankful for where we are now 💛Also I’m very jelly you got to see Ed Sheeran live, I absolutely love his music since he started back in like 2013 or so. God bless Michel!

Do you have any recommendations for online ASL courses? I've been trying to learn ASL since the beginning of 2020 through random apps, and recently enrolled in the 2 basic ASL courses with Oklahoma School for the Deaf, and I have learned a lot...but I still feel like I need more. I'm having trouble grasping the grammar/sentence structures.

I used to watch a KZbinr who did average 45 minute long videos. And they were sometimes way longer, rarely shorter. And I loved it. I love longer videos because KZbin is usually on in the background and I’m doing other things. So it helps to not stop often and select a new video.

My parents did long distance for 3 years before cellphones were even a thing and you had to pay for long distance, so they only talked once a week. My mom was in the U.S. but my dad was in Portugal. They met while she went there for vacation. Idk how they did it, especially before FaceTime was a thing.

i'm really happy to see you thrive in your current relationship -- it seems so healthy and amazing. full of love, life, realism, comfort, and growth. all that GOOD stuff!! i did long-distance for almost 5 years with my partner (now-husband, i'm still not used to using this label 😬), and it would be a big fat lie if i say it was easy. to be perfectly honest, for me, it came with toll because, thinking back, i wasn't really ready to go into that state after dating him only for a couple of months, but i wanted to come off as that independent badass bish lol and acted cool when it came to the point when he had to leave. we just thought that it would be ridiculous to end the relationship "just because" we'd be far from each other physically. we gave it a go, and decided to take it month by month, semester by semester (we're in PhD program), and here we are. i definitely, just as you are now, went through phases. mine was a bit different from you in the sense that it won't be realistic for us to even imagine living together until either one of us graduate from a PhD degree so we didn't even imagine that as an option. then when COVID happened, we took advantage of being able to work remotely and quarantined together. that was a great way to be forced into living together for a prolonged time in a 280 sqft apartment and test our compatibility lol. BUT the thing is, i still wasn't mature enough as you are now and didn't admit how much i rely on him, the fact that i am better mentally (and even perform better) with him vs. alone. i still was committed to playing the role expected to that strong, independent bad-ass bish who doesn't need anyone to be around to be at their optimal state, so once the school system started going back to normal, we went distant again *even though* i was still working from home, *even when* my partner suggested that we should consider moving in together. then i hit what i'd call "bottom" a couple of times. i don't know what i was trying to prove myself; i was in a complete denial that i could totally benefit from leaving my home base and moving in with him. he was more physically bound than me so it would have to be me making the move (i think there was also my ego playing in this to be honest). you, michelle, are so much more in tune with your emotions and feelings that you acknowledge that you have hit the turning point. i wasn't mature enough to do that, i KNOW if i had admitted those feelings of mine 2 yrs ago, i would have not had to go through some of the things in the past couple years all by myself. i'm almost envious of the mental state that you're in now and so proud!! anywho, i finally decided to END this state of long-distance relationship. we are still not in a "settled" place with our job and living space, but we decided to go through these transition periods together regardless. we realized that we were losing more by being alone by default and traveling back and forth in terms of physical & mental energy as well as finance than having a home-base where both of us belong together. i'm not saying this is what others should do because mind you that it took me 5 years including the 3 years post-COVID where i technically could work remotely to finally pull this. in any case, the most important thing is that our relationship got out that time of being distant with more strength, more trust. so don't feel like you're missing or losing anything!! the time will come where you get a strong inclination/feeling of making changes and at the same time are able to afford that change, and you will have my blessings and everyone else in this community then (not necessarily talking about marriage or anything, just in terms of ending the long-distance era and moving onto something else)!! OMG i talked way too much. anyways, sending love and courage!! long distance sucks, yes, you put it right!! but that state will change eventually. i will just say one more thing -- i recommend acknowledging the fact that you both are doing something hard and give yourselves words of affirmations that you guys are doing great and appreciate each other's efforts that you're putting into it. that would help this time to serves as a real, strength-building phase, i think. and like Jordy said, you get to "celebrate" being together every time you reunite, which is cool and fun!! to many, being (physically) together is a default, but it's something special to long-distance couples... so enjoy that phase!! 🥰🥰

Just came here to say that however you say your name is the correct way, especially if it’s the way your whole family says it. My great grandfather used to tell my grandmother (his daughter) that if she wanted to pronounce her last name as crabapple then she could bc it’s her name and no one could tell her different. Her last name growing up was Woodward. So however you pronounce your name is right not wrong! Love you friend! ❤

We enjoyed it! We got to focus on work and personal hobbies/friends etc during the week with no guilt and every weekend was a special couples-only time. Luckily we're in the same timezone which helps a ton. It's really tough when I dwell on it but the thing that helps is that we've really been proactive in creating our future together through saving, sorting out visas and work and that does take time but we know the fruits of our labour will be great. My only advice is to really celebrate what you have and where you're going together. It helps a ton. 😊🌻🌺
