It's finally here! What did you think of this episode? Silas and Madeline knocked it out of the park with this edit!! We put so much love, time, and resources into these episodes, and I hope you enjoy it. :) P.S. For everyone asking - the songs during the music video and final competition are by my very talented friend Abigail Barlow! Be sure to check out her music on Spotify!

I felt it when you said, "I hate feeling like there's a time limit." It sucks knowing that life is short, and you haven't really done much and you're already halfway through adulthood. I'm just so glad that you're pushing yourself to do these things even if you don't feel the best. I admire you and I hope you look back and feel satisfied with the effort you put into yourself and your viewers.

@@Taekooklife-ez9fl Oh yes, she, Michelle, is like a prototype of a human being others should be built after. 😉🥰. She has the personality in the videos, which every trainer wishes for his or her students not to mention her talent and attitude towards the goal what ever the nature throws at her. She should win the 🥇 for being a human being!!! ALSO SHE SHOWS, that not EVERYBODY HAS TO START AS A 4 YEAR OLD IN ORDER TO HAVE A GREAT PROGRESS!!!! Oh and by the way, I was a 24 years old, when I started to learn how to speak in English! I was literally watching the Friends from a small car video player in a bath tub daily basis - in order to learn to speak English! I had subtitles on and off, which were extremely helpful. And there are loads of students in our veterinary school, who are over twenty years olds and even a few 39 year olds in a starting class. (50% will be chosen by an entrance exam alone without any benefits from recommendations nor grades.) English is not even close to my own language! You can not even compare!

Take in consideration that she already have body training like her flexibility was already enough for that routine and she had the pressure of learning for a challenge and also she was being trained by Olympic athletes, not saying this to make her look like her achievements were not important, but to let people that are willing to learn know that is not that easy and you will fall, cry, and work a lot to get at a near point, and you can’t give up!

Marsha’s story filled my heart with mixed emotions, it’s so sweet that she started when her husband died and held the memory of him thinking that it looked amazing watching a ice skater with her. But it’s so heartbreaking her husband died and that’s when she started that feeling must have loomed on her for a bit “why couldn’t I have started when he was around to watch” must’ve turned into “he is here watching me in spirit (if she’s religious probably something like he is watching down on me from heaven) and that feeling must send warmth into her while she skates. There’s passion from her blades sent shivers like he was right there with her happy for her and she could feel his energy with her ❤ it’s so bittersweet

Ok but let’s be honest, she didn’t try to get any of her other jumps. You probably already had your salchow, toe loop and loop when you were working on your flip. And you had to do other things during your day like go to school. If you had two months of that intense training you’d have gotten your axel. Her achievement is impressive don’t get me wrong, but it’s not fair to you when you make that comparison.

Coming back to this in 2024 made me feel great. I’ve been on and off of figure skating for years and I’m now starting to really want to get into it again, and this helped a lot to see. Especially as a disabled person with leg ✨issues✨ seeing the 60 year old woman made me realize “hay! If she can do it maybe I really can do it!” One of the first things I learned about skating was TO fall. Conquer your fear and learn how to do it best. It’s better to know the pain than deal with the unknown. I’ve taken that with me. Lol If you read all that thank you. ^^

I feel like I should be better by now and skating with girls my own age but It’s not something I can help. all I can really do is try my best and try to get the skills down so I will be able to test out of the level! I have to remind myself frequently that it is not a contest of who’s the best at the youngest age it’s about self-improvement. I sometimes forget these girls have been skating since the age of 5 and I’ve only been skating for one year. keep your head up and remember, you’re there to improved yourself and you will only waste time focusing on others

Watching this as a Paralympic alpine skier I have to say it’s amazing how you progressed and it truly shows the lessons I’ve learned over the years. My specialty is slalom and one of the things you find out over time is that you will never have a perfect slalom race. No matter what you are going to make mistakes. It’s so quick and you have almost no time to think so all you can do is trust your own abilities to counteract any mistake you make. The hours of training and effort that go in behind the scenes for that one competition is something most people don’t see. There’s a lot of sacrifice and struggle as you push towards that goal. You have to sacrifice in order to push forward and it’s great to see you show even a small taste of what that is like. When I was in middle and high school I drove an hour and a half almost every weekend to train with better coaches than were available in my hometown. I don’t have any lasting friends from high school really because of that, but the sacrifice was worth it when I got to compete on that world stage for the first time. Now I continue to strive to be better and see what else I can achieve in my sport. Hopefully everyone else who sees this can use it in their own life as motivation to keep pushing themselves further than they ever thought they could.

I have thought about how so many people much much younger than me, and are so much more successful because they started at such a young age. It kind of makes me feel like I've wasted my life honestly, and that even if I started now I wouldn't get as far as I could starting young.

I feel exactly the same way! I've wanted to ice skating since forever but my family couldn't afford it :(. Now that I'm in college and got a job, I told myself that while I'm still a teenager (19 btw) and still young I should just go for it because the longer I wait the more I'll regret it. Sure, I most likely won't get to the olympics or anything but imagine what I'll be like in 5 or 10 years time! I'll still be young. It's never too late! Marsha (the older lady skating in the vid) and Michelle gave me so much inspiration, I don't care if I'm the only adult taking the learn to skate lessons. As a former figure skater, a couple of points: Cold: You get used to the cold--I can't explain how besides that after years and years of doing it, you just don't even notice (until you get off the ice). Gear: Michelle mentioned getting really expensive gear; excluding blades and boots, you don't necessarily need the warmest clothes as you advance. If I had a hard session, I could easily be a t-shirt because I got so hot. When you are higher up (doing advanced jumps or spins), you just don't stop moving (and your coach is watching you even when you aren't in a private lesson!), so warmth is not the same factor at the beginner stage. Falling: It is TOTALLY true! The older you get the more scared you become. If you cannot start this sport young, it will be hard simply because adults know the risks (and your body is less loose). A fall that looks really bad to spectators isn't even that bad haha--you also learn where to place your body when you fall cause you've probably fallen on that ONE hip about one thousand times (or my personal favorite you body does a nice slliiidde across as the ice). My biggest recommendation would be to tuck your head in--do not let your neck snap back or you will end up with a concussion! Michelle did an good job! This sport is for the fearless, the determined, and the strong--I recommend anyone go out and trying figure skating or ice dancing (if you don't want to do any jumps or spins!).

It’s true once you warm up with stroking and a few jumps you strip out of your sweater/sweatshirt... I used to practice in sleeveless dresses, and I didn’t get cold. You only get cold if you stop moving! And your coach is always watching, even if it’s not your lesson! Get out there and have fun!

Re:Cold I dunno man... I don't think it was normal that she was freezing for so long. All I have is skating experience when I was young but even then I never was cold to the extreme levels that she was under. I think that definitely attributes to making sure you get good gear BEFORE you try skating. I feel like she got hypothermia :S

Same here. I mean, her Salchow was swingy and she didn't place her left foot right in the flip, but for someone who only just started skating, that's to be expected. I'm actually surprised they taught her a flip. I've been skating for a year and a half and I've learnt three-jump, Salchow, Loop and I'm learning toe-loop. I've learnt all the other jumps in my off-ice training but I've not started learning them yet. That being said, I haven't started learning flip yet, but I know exactly how to do it (at least off-ice)

I will say as a ballet dancer and figure skater, it helps, but I still really struggle with spins since it's so different from pirouettes yet similar. Mind you, I did ballet about 15 years before starting figure skating though lol so ballet is extremely ingrained into me.

@@anshi5098 I started at 12. Honestly, skating is one of the most physically and mentally tiring sports I've done /tried. There are times where youre just so ready to quit cause you arent improving fast like everyone else in your club or youre just not good as everyone else. Although, it's so rewarding when you finally land a jump you've been working on for months. I'd say try it. Even though (sadly) you're passed the age where you could go to the Olympics, there are adult-only competitions available. Try it out, like I said, skating can be one of the most rewarding sports.

If I manage to begin in this year, do you think i'd be able to compete and all that? i hope to not be discouraged because of all the things i am watching, basically i know that patience is important and that falls happen and i am starting to slowly work on my flexibility. Thank you for anyone that read that.

@@sstrawberryprincess I mean, it's possible. There are figure skaters for the US (johnny weir) who started at 14 (i think) and won gold at the Olympics. It all depends on how quickly you can pass your skating tests and learn your elements. But yes, go for it, maybe you can reach the Olympics.

Whenever I say that I'm too old to do something my mom smacks me. She was 40 when she had me, 56 when she first started college, and at age 63 is still kicking ass. I'm 23 and I sometimes feel like I'm not doing good enough for someone my age, but my mom reminds me that there is no timeline and achievement at any age is still achievement! I'm 23 and I'll be starting college for the very first time this fall (at 24) and by the time I get my masters degree I'll be 31. But that's ok!

I feel the same way sometimes too. It’s really easy to let that kind of anxiety get you down. I’m nearly 30 and I’ve been in college classes since my junior year in high school with like four more years to go. The feeling of it being never ending is awful and some days I want to quit so bad. Especially when the classes are hard or when I know they are consuming my own personal life. But I keep reminding myself that I’m to close to quit now. I know that if I were to even take a semester break, longer than summer, I’d never go back (that’s how much I hate it).
