If we used the sidereal year for our calendars then summer would have 15 hours of darkness. Correct? Nasa says tropical doesn’t account for precession of the equinoxes. That got me a little confused. I thought the tropical accounted for precession

Professor how long would the tropical year be if the earth wasn’t precessing? Would the year be 20 minutes longer and tropical and sidereal years would be the same?

Professor if I’m not good at math should I do astronomy in college? I know a lot of astronomy already.

Most intoductory courses in astronomy do not require higher level math.

Not sure what you mean by "precession of equinoxes). Precession is the motion seen by objects that are rotating, like a spinning top.
