Given a 1kg pendulum attached to a ceiling:
We will find what is the charge on each 1kg sphere such that the angle relative to the vertical=10 degrees?

Morning professor, I humbly ask if you can make a vid going into the derivation of these 2 similar laws. Newton's gravitational law & Coulombs law. In particular how Columb [like Newton] 1st came to the mathematical conclusion that the ratio of the charge coupling must be expresses with this multiplication q1 x q2 as a ratio to the force. IMO, it all must've started with some experimental data. I feel that our education is missing some preliminary math lectures on the math of ratios & how to express experimental data in a ratio & then an equation. I know this is the job of a mathematician, but as a physicist I feel you can do a better job. TYSM

It is actually straight forward. The force between the two charges (or masses) depend on the size of each. Therefore multiplying the charges (or masses) makes sense. Then the effect spreads out radially (like an expanding sphere), so the effect must diminish as 1/R^2 Then all you have to do is determine the constant of proportionality experimentally.

Professor. The sidereal day is defined to be the length of time for the vernal equinox to return to your celestial meridian. How is this different from the tropical year? I got this information from a college. Is the sidereal month and year also based on the vernal equinox or just the sidereal day?
