( Chubby , pale skinned, brown hair, brown eyes and glasses with some weird teeth )...... Sure yup thats me.

I agree with your rant a lot. Espicially with art trades. The mutual thing is kinda weird. I've never seen that before, but I really agree with your way of doing art trades. For me, I also do art trades with lesser skill artists because I wish someone would've done that for me, and I always seen it as greedy when other artists just go "no they art isn't any worth as much as mine I'd lose money dealing with them". - v - I know art is a business, but doing one or two art trades for some kids isn't going to break the bank x'D The comment thing too. I've seen that too and thought it such a stupid way to go about things. I've seen it on DA a lot more than any other art website. I use to ask them why they want more comments, because it doesn't do anything really. o v o And most just like seeing a bunch of notifications. So, yee. I know for me, I'd ask for critiques first thing if I wanted comments specifically on something. XD That's just me personally. That is an interesting topic though. The last thing too, I've never gone out of my way to shame others for getting commissions, but I've had someone shame me for my prices although they just didn't realize I drew every part of my drawings it isn't photoshop, but I realize some artists who get a lot of commissions do so because they work really hard communicating with others and meeting others. x'D Sometimes social skills outdo art skills. o v o Honestly your art looks really good. o v o I like the style. It's so thicc, it's very nice.

Looks very nice! No problem! I personally think the thicc outline style is the best style. The coloring in your work is really nice too. x'D Yes! o v o I didn't do a lot of art trades younger, but I started doing them recently and find them really enjoyable. I would just watch others do art trades from a distance in the past. XD

@Encentix
@Encentix 6 жыл бұрын
Dynocation i admire people who do arttrades with lesser skilled people and i also do it myself from time to time but i get why people refuse to do it with someone with lesser skill. Not everyone will take 3-7 hours out of their day to create art that they might not even feel like drawing especially if it doesn’t get them anything. I always go by the saying that people should practice a lot and then try again to arttrade someone. I know it is hard to draw and all but so is everything else you learn. If you’re asking people to do art for free in exchange of beginner work it’s really not attractive to them. There’s nothing bad with doing trades from time to time but when it starts to be so common that the beginners get selfish and only ask for free stuff then it starts to get pretty rude. Commissions are often cheap and hard to sell to someone so if you really want art from a professional then go ask ur mom for money or spend ur earnings from deviantart on commissions. I think that when it comes to exchange both parties should profit. Except for gifts. But an arttrade isn’t a gift. It’s an exchange. And if the thing you offer isn’t that good then people will be turned off by it. And that is totally reasonable. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t make arttrades with beginners if you want to. But i will say thay nobody should be pressured into doing art for others in some sort of selfless act to share sympathy. you won’t allow a kid to steal just because you would have enjoyed the free item you’d get. Arttrades with lesser skilled people isn’t theft but if you you are entitled to professional free art as a beginner artist then you should reconsider yourself. Everyone should profit from a trade. And while to some the profit is making people happy that doesn’t mean everyone is fine with the “i’m happy cause she’s happy about what i got her. If you want free art then either up your skills to their level or forget about wanting free art and support them by asking for a commission. This opinion might not be popular to some but at least i’m honest. Don’t guilttrip artists into drawing for you just because you feel entitled. They have it hard enough with their commissions so i advice you to also respect the artists and just like you said about the beginners who would be happy to trade with a professional, professionals would be happy too if you’d commission them and it’s probably also good to put yourself in their shoes instead of just opening your eyes to the struggles of beginners and their desired freebies.

I agree with you in this! Tough some artists who work profissionally or don'y have much time to draw and need to use that time wisely to do commissions and even art for themselves, it van feel frustrating to trade with less skilled artists because they would spend so much time, hours, making a piece of art for someone pratically for free. I definitely think that it's nice to trade with less skilled artists if you have the time to, and if you don't (and that would really affect your schedule, you should at least say something on your profile like "i work full time with art or doing commissions, so i need to save as much time as possible and prefer to trade only with friends and mutuals. Thanks for understanding" This would not only be polite, but would make people less scared to talk to you.

Usually when I see "mutuals only" I think they mean that they both follow each other, which makes sense to me, since it's kind of like saying they only are interested from similar skill level/art they like, but without insulting people by saying their art isn't as good. However, the "close mutuals" thing seems really dumb.
@icyincubus
@icyincubus 7 жыл бұрын
I always thought that mutuals meant that we are following eachother. Like, if we follow each other then we like each other's art so we know that we'll both be getting artwork that we like. I would do an art trade with someone I follow even if we had never spoken previously. I don't know, I'm just very bad at turning people down who's art I'm not a huge fan of. I want to get something I like in return for the work I do. I guess I should change it now if people view it as a jerk thing to do hehe ^^'

For me, when I say "art trades, mutuals only" (I mostly do art on a large Steven Universe Amino), I mean people who are following me and I'm following them. I may not be friends with those people, but it means I somehow, someway, know who they are so I know that they will keep their end of the trade. I also do art trades open for all, but usually have it slotted so I don't get overwhelmed with trades or create a large wait time. It makes me feel good to do trades or requests because not only do I get to to practice different body types, faces, clothes, etc. but I also get to see the joy the other person has for getting my art. :3

God I feel the same about ALL OF THESE!! Two of mine are small, but still irritating. 1. I hate hate HATE when people try to sell ponyfied versions of canon characters. Like, they sell Dipper as a pony for real money, and it's so stupid! It's not a new character you can sell as an adoptable, you literally took Pearl's hair, gem, and color scheme (sometimes even the actual clothing) and are selling it like it's new. That is just brimming with copyright issues, and they sell like hotcakes on DA! I've seen these ponyfied versions sell for like over 3$, and it's insane! The thing is, there is a difference between a character being inspired (I've seen some inspired ponies, and they are super cool!) and just plain copying the entire character. I just hate when people try to sell these, AND FUCKING SUCCEED 2. Character stealing. But not in the way you think. I've seen well-known artists attack these poor 12 year olds' crayon drawings because they had similar hair. Some big artist even made a call out journal with "evidence", when really the child's character had the same hair color and a scar in the same spot. Literally nothing else is similar, but they are still dubbed a thief. Now, character stealing is a big problem, I've seen it happen pretty blatantly, and it sucks! But when people are so insecure, and feel so high and mighty that they feel they have the right to attack anyone with one or two similar traits, it's shameful. And it's even worse because all of their lemmings (as you put perfectly) fall behind them because they are biased, and attack the innocent individual because they aren't as "good" or "talented" as the popular one. I'm sorry for the long comment, but these issues bother me so much, and I love your discussions so much!

Speaking from my brief glances towards that side of things, a lot of these ponified characters also tend to use a sort of 'MLP template', they're like those superdeformed Funkopop figures. Where it's the same base just with a new paintscheme over the top, which is just lazy. The being said I have the artistic talent of a dead fish so I'm probably not one to judge.

The whole mutuals thing works best for me for a couple reasons. Art Trades are a matter of trust, you gotta trust the other person to finish their part, and they've gotta trust you. I've been burned in the past when accepting trades from strangers. I don't tend to follow people willy nilly, I only follow people who I know, who's art I admire, or as a way of saying thanks to kind fans who regularly comment on my work. So I know who my mutuals are, and I can trust them. While I could say friends instead of mutuals, that makes it subjective. And I'm in a fandom with many young members, who are more likely to think of me as a friend when I really don't know them. But that doesn't mean I limit myself to only doing trades with people of a skill level equal to mine. As long as I trust the person, I'll accept it, and I sometimes go out of my way to offer trades to my friends who are of a lower skill level. I don't want to be snobbish when it comes to my art, but I want to be cautious.

I really agree with most of your points! I guess I'll give my two cents. Granted, I really do like comments more than favs (though I'm not active on DA anymore) but honestly, you can't expect everyone to be able to write out a whole paragraph about why they liked a submission while being mad if the person who commented gave a short compliment like "This is really cute!" Of course, if it is a gift art or commission for me, I would leave a comment to show my appreciation, but other than that, unless i have something to say or it is a close friend's artwork, I usually prefer not to comment. As for the Fanart VS Original art argument, I get why some people are upset, but I don't like how some artists love to bash on popular fanartists. Yes, It is really discouraging to draw OCs and get little attention compared to an art piece of a fandom which gets ten times more the attention. It is much easier for fanartists to get 'popular' as per say, but can you really blame them? People are more likely to gravitate towards a franchise they already know and probably are more likely to stumble across the fan art while looking through tags (for tumblr). I think maybe they could just try promoting OC artists and creating communities for sharing Original stories than drag fanartists down. Another pet peeve of mine is when people complain about "fav bombs". I know it is really annoying to go online and see 20 notifications of someone faving your entire gallery, but I've seen people who act offended as if it is some malicious act. Like chill, It is probably someone new who found your account and liked your art a lot, and DA allows you to select all the notification and delete them all in one click, so it isn't that inconvenient.

I'll never understand why people get mad because of fave bombs. One time when I was new to the art community of a game, I got followed by a super cool artist (she draws amazing hair) and I decided to follow and like a few of her most recent pictures. Almost immediately she messaged me asking me to 'stop spamming her'. I was so heartbroken and just blocked her because I did not want to interact with her anymore. I ended up unblocking her and over time I've discovered that she has a very snobby attitude and won't accept any constructive criticism about her anatomy (it needs improvement)

I remember on amino when people would open up “fake requests” to call people out who commented on only those posts than their regular art posts. And I was always so annoyed at artists who did this because it was like, what did you really expect? It’s a free opportunity, like of course it’s going to get more attention. Yeah, it sucks but that’s just so entitled.

The fact that they can teach you how to get rid of watermarks, is unbelievable. I took Graphic Design and they never taught us that. We were just taught how to make Icons for businesses, making a postcard related to a landmark in a different country, making a flag for our school and how we can use art to create a quick wallpaper or a small gif. Then again, I didn't take Graphic Design 2 because I was given a choice for my senior year classes.

Dude, wow, I just discovered your channel today & I've been listening to your stories (hilarious & hella relatable btw 😂) & I just wanted to say that I already admire you by what you're saying in this video. Giving a person that may not have the same drawing skills as you a chance to do an art trade is a super great way to boost someone's confidence. I can relate to that because I was that kid once. And being excited about not asking for shoutouts and getting the attention you're getting without asking for it, even if it's not much, is the best feeling in the world. Knowing that people actually are following you for your content and want to favorite or comment on it is just wow. It drives you to do so much more with the motivational comments and the support of your fans. It never really hit me until you mentioned it so, thank you! :D Keep up the amazing work and great stories. You've got one more fan on your side 💕

FYI I think your voice inspired a thing about my characters home: SO she lives on a moon in space but the moon doesn't have gravity so everybody has a gravity device, BUT because her family is pretty poor AND she has a big family, so every day at 5pm the gravity goes out so everybody starts floating and so her father has to go out and it takes him two hours for him to fix it so everybody just does things that don't need to use gravity and everybody tries to make sure shit doesn't get messy.... SO CONGRATS, YOU INSPIRED ME TO GET MY FOUR ARMED, PERVY, AND MUSCLEY MONSTER GIRL CHARACTER TO LIVE IN SPACE!

I'm a traditional artist but I love digital art. I have a high respect for it, but I feel my art is better traditional which is why I do it. I like to photocopy my art in, fix it, and would like to do it more when I save up for my own photocopier. But I totally understand people who really don't want to do that and it's way cheaper overall. I totally get it.

Wow. I really do need to get off my lazy ass and do my art. I love it, it's my main passion. Sitting at my computer listening to your stories and watching you draw actually got me to pull out my sketchbook and draw too. I think I don't post a whole lot any more because I just put in so much to make it how I like it a lot more than when I did in high school. It scared me that I was losing my luster for a while when my art production decreased, but when I did make art, it took so damn long and it looks amazing when it's done I can't let myself down knowing what kind of standard I set for myself. But I do agree with your rant. I have used the "I don't have time" excuse. Bitch even if you don't have time, you MAKE time. So thanks! I guess I got a lot more out of this than I thought I would.

I agree with so much of these things. Mostly the favorite thing. I'm not a popular artist. My first account four years ago had 300 followers, the last one 130, now 35. I LOVE when I receive comments. Even if it is just "It's cute!" or "This looks nice!" Even if you give me criticism, I'll take it! I basically do not get comments unless it is a REALLY popular fan art, which sucks. I want comments, but hell, you faved it, you like it, cool. But I wouldn't witch hunt people for it. I rather get comments, but still. I don't do art trades unless a friend wants to since my last few art trades were by people who dab a couple of colors everywhere which resembles your character and comes back an hour later like "Done~!" Just.. *facepalms* I also love your videos, keep it up!

I just recently subscribed to your channel. And I have to say, I love your art style! I'm a traditional artist myself, but I would love to own some of the software that you use to draw digitally. My only problem is that with me, drawing is a hobby and not a job, so I lack the motivation to draw very often (this is also why I never do requests or commissions). It's not as fun as it was when I was younger. And I feel like some of my skills have even diminished a bit. But thankfully, I have been drawing and completing more of my works. And my skills are starting to catch back up. I'm still not as good at drawing dynamic poses and backgrounds like I was in the past though. Anyway, you are my inspiration! Keep it up, girl! :)

FUCKING THANK YOU. GOD. People don't seem to realize that art is a luxury, not a necessity. Personally, this is why it bothers me so much that people expect/demand cheap commissions/art/etc., because you don't NEED to buy art, you WANT to. Luxury items are and should be inherently more expensive than necessities. Of course, I still think cheap entertainment in general is a good idea, simply because poor people exist and should be able to have entertainment in their lives. This is why things like Netflix are so popular; its relatively cheap and you can get hundreds of things to entertain yourself with while ALSO supporting the people who made the things you're watching. It's a win-win. But commissions and things of the like give money to a person, not a brand or corporation, and most professional artists can't afford to do stupidly cheap art commissions because they're normal people with bills and a stomach, not some multi-billion dollar company.

A lot of those get me pissed too. I'm kind of curious about two things that are my SUPER peeves. 1.) The artist who says "oh can you teach me how to (insert thing)?" but doesn't ever actually listen to advice and you can see YEARS AND YEARS of them just not even trying or getting any better. 2.) The artist who instead of attempting any kind of background just slaps their art onto a photo. (Not referring to those who draw over photos to insert things, mean those where the character clearly does NOT belong there.)
@Moocow2003

My personal pet peeve is when people have watermarks or signatures that don't actually say who they are. Like some illegible cursive or a picture or their initials. I very much want to be able to credit all the art I have of my OCs but I simply have no idea who made it at this point! if I don't recognise an artist's style I certainly don't recognise their signature if it's an emoji and the name of their childhood pet written in runes. tbh I mostly just type out my screen name and slap it on somewhere

I think I'm p chill but I hate it when people reblog and then remove the artist's description and then put in their own "poetic" description. The artist's description can hold important things like links to their other websites, their PayPal, or patreon. And when that's removed it steals the bread from the artist's mouth.

Ya see that was my fault for not explaining it properly. Im fine if people sign it or watermark it tastefully. Literally the only thing I have to nitpick about with your video is when you mentioned artists on tumblr asking people to keep their artist comments. like you arent obligated to leave a comment on their art but erasing artist comments (usually for blog ~*~aesthetic~*~) is rude af. Just my personal opinion.

about the fave/comment thing; personally, and this is just me, i guess a comment means more to an artist. i mean, when someone says something nice about your art verbally, that feeling of just pure flattery and determination, it's a big thing. i'm not one of those people who says you have to comment if you favorite, i appreciate the favorites alone, i guess what i'm trying to say is that i see where theyre coming from. people like that are kind of crazy, but i can see why. so yeah :')
