During the 2021 Peach Bowl college football game between Pittsburgh and Michigan State, Michigan State LB Cal Haladay came up with the game sealing pick six in the fourth quarter. Pitt was trailing 24-21 and driving, but Haladay came up with an interception with under 40 seconds left and returned 78 yards for a game sealing touchdown. Michigan State defeated Pitt 31-21 in the 2021 Peach Bowl.

They, including me, were 100% right. Michigan St has the worst pass defense in the country and gave up only 170 yards and 1 TD with the Biletnikoff winner to throw to. For reference South Carolina's WR went 9/9 for 160 and a TD vs North Carolina. Yes a WR did better vs a WAY better defense than an actual QB Michigan St's run game yesterday was the worst they had all years. It was the worst in yards and worst in yards per carry.

Pitt and Mich State are old time bluebloods. Both have won multiple NCs in the past. Pitt last in 1976, Mich State last in 1966. Its good for CFB when these teams are on top! Same for Minnesota, 7 MNCs in the past, last one in 1960. CFB needs Minnesota, Michigan State, and Pitt to be elite again.

That was woody hayes who said that btw. It was also a good call, just a better defensive call. MSU lines up in a double A-gap blitz look but the LB fakes and drops into float zone (or middle robber, or whatever you want to call it). Pitt runs man beating routes (two hard breaks and a hitch), but because the protection was centered, the MSU edge came free, forcing a rushed throw to a guy who was blitzing half a second before. If the hot read was anyone on the outside or the hitch, its at least 7 yards.
