@bgdragon993 жыл бұрын
Because it's not sudden death. Purdue has a chance to score after they do, and they didn't have any confidence that their defense could stop them. It's a real disadvantage to go first in college OT.
@vbscript23 жыл бұрын
What Bryan said. If Tennessee kicked a field goal in OT, Purdue would still get their turn, in which case a touchdown would win it. Going first is indeed quite a disadvantage, since you don't know what you'll need to tie or win, whereas the team that goes second already knows exactly what they need. For example, in this case, since Purdue knew TN didn't score in their possession, then they knew all they needed was a field goal to win it, so there was no need for them to take risks like going for it on 4th down within field goal range.

No, they did not get robbed. The play in OT where they thought they should have had a touchdown was called correctly by the officials. The reason was there was another Tennessee player, #88, who was trying to pull the player with the football forward. (See the 5:55 mark of the video) That is not allowed. The forward progress stopped at that point short of the end zone.

I'm biased, but the ruling was correct. I would be so upset if it happened to us, but a player is not allowed to pull a player to assist him in his forward progress. Literally took the time to look it up. It's under Rule 9-3-2-b. If they were going to call it short there, they either should've penalized them for pulling or called it dead at best. You can't pull.
