I've been to 13 of Jackie's concerts and they've all been wonderful. Kind of strange though that after many standing ovations, at the end of the program it's unusually quiet. I finally realized that when you've got goose bumps, chills, and a lump in your throat all at the same time, you are literally speechless!

I believe the British term would be "gobsmacked." Too funny to see the SAME reaction from EVERYONE who hears her for the first time. Need to come up with a new adjective to describe Jackie. Can start with 'staggering' then go higher.

I saw Jackie in March 2021, I’m a Disabled 100% Vietnam Veteran with a few metals some personal some Battalion. I was in the front row where my shoes touched the bottom of the stage at times I was only 4ft from her at times. There were songs she song and I know I’m a Marine did all I could do to hold it together. My wife passed away before we could see her in the Semi finals at AGT 1 hour before it aired so Jackie is a big part of my life to help me go on without my wife. God Bless Jackie Evancho.

It always takes a while to get your head around Evancho even for a veteran "Reactor" She looks like a little angel and the voice is other worldly. If Foster never heard anything like it than it doesn't exist. But its not an opera voice, Evancho's voice is so unique a mesmerizing tone and pitch, nothing like it, like she's on loan from heavens choir.

A great blast from the past. She was only 10 yo. at that time. She released her first album early Dec that year and it went platinum by Christmas. She is the younger artist to go platinum. She has released at least 6 more albums since then. I can't and I WON"T criticize her over any political issue. I love her and support her and her sister.

She has more control and her sound is just cleaner and she annunciates better. She’s been branching out into pop but still does the classical crossover. I just love her voice and the way she expresses herself when she performs. I had the privilege to see her live and she was phenomenal!

Of all the songs that I have heard Jackie sing, these two, at this performance with David Foster, are my favorites. Reading some of the other remarks, here, I gather she has been through rather a lot, more recently, in terms of criticism from the public, etc. I am sorry to hear it. I first came to these performances (or at least to the second one) via Amira, or actually through her family. I had much the same reaction to Jackie's early singing (and especially this performance) that you do, here. Thanks much, Kent. :-)

New subscriber here. I love your Grace reactions and i am so happy to find that you have discovered Jackie now. I have been a fan of hers since she placed 2nd on AGT in 2010. You should check out her wikipedia page. Her list of accomplishments is extraordinary, most notable of which she is the youngest solo artist ever to have a platinum selling record at the ripe old age of 10 (her christmas ep O holy night). You should also definitely watch her journey on agt starting with her audition, then quarterfinals, semifinals, and final performances. She was, and still is, truly amazing. She has at least 5 albums out, each one of which topped the classical charts. You might also check out some of her concert performances. I love her performance of "Lovers" from her PBS special (she has had 2 pbs specials). Anyway, keep up the good work!

Hi Kent, Fun video. "Just in case" you haven't followed up on the now just-17 year old Jackie, in the 7 years since this performance, she: broke Michael Jackson's record as youngest artist in US chart history to have a Platinum album, had three top ten albums on the Billboard 200 chart, had SIX consecutive #1 albums on the Billboard Classical Chart, had her own 1-hour solo TV special THREE times, performed for both Obama [twice] and Trump, along with the Pope, and done duets with Andrea Bocelli, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Tony Bennett, and numerous other luminaries. She also just moved to NYC with an eye on Broadway.

Jackie's voice has changed in that it has become more rounded and more suited to the crossover style she is now concentrating on. This wonderful young girl, still in her mid teens, has come under some very evil attacks. She sang the National Anthem at Trumps innauguration, but had already twice sung for Obama and also in front of both Bush's, Clinton and Carter. She says she wants to sing for every President she can. She made it clear her choice was non political but that did not stop the nasty remarks. Prior to that her sister had announced that she was transgender changing from Jacob to Juliet. Jackie supported her sister and was even threatened because of that.. This young lady has had to weather two very nasty storms but has come through that with dignity and charm and has become possibly the finest crossover singer there is.

Well said Michi, I feel strongly about many things, including politics but will never let politics, religion and other such things get inthe way of either my appreciation of beauty or my friendships which are far more important to me than those issues. I also can never, and never will, understand how anyone can attack a child. I have even seen some very cruel things said about Grace and even young Lorelei Monsegutu has been attacked on line, Some very sick people on this planet.

The argument over her singing for Trump was not about politics, it was about morality. Trump is a sexual predator. By appearing in support of him, she was supporting what he had done. That makes her and everyone else who supports Trump a denizen of a moral wasteland. It has nothing to do with Republican, Democrat, Independent, LIbertarian, Nazi, Communist....It's all about whether you approve of someone who assaults women. Apparently, Jackie does. That makes her a hypocrite as well. And this is not about hate, it's about disgust. But if you say that hating people who support sexual assault is "hating", then, yeah, I'm a "hater" - and you should be also, if you have any sense of morals and ethics.
@lescox8667
@lescox8667 7 жыл бұрын
How dare you accuse any one of hate when you are prepared to attack a child because she sings your National Anthem. Trump is everything I thoroughly detest, he is a bigot, a pervert, a blatent liar, a racist and may well plunge us into a war. But unless you are prepared to scrap the inauguration of a democratically elected (ha what a joke) president then you have to accept that the inauguration is a national ceremony. Almost all those who declined did so not on principle but because they were scared by threats of reprisals, she showed the true American spirit by saying to the threateners, go to hell. She sang your National Anthem, not what a nice guy Trump is. Until you decide to effect a change you are stuck with your poor excuse for democracy which sometimes allows catastrophies like Trump to happen. Only a coward ever attacks a child.
@JStephs1950
@JStephs1950 7 жыл бұрын
@ les cox I'm not sure who your indignation is aimed, but I thought I'd respond. (The only person I said was a "hater" is me - hating moral turpitude in elected officials, of whatever political persuasion. Believe me, I never had any issues with who Jackie sang for - until Trump.) We appear to share the same dislike for the man, but a very different view on what Jackie's singing before Trump meant. IMO Jackie is no longer a child. She may still be a teenager, but she's been operating in an adult world for a long time now. She is a young woman, old enough to know better. She can't claim the naivete of childhood any more. Her appearance was a statement of support both for the political office and for the venal, ethically and moral bankrupt person occupying the White House. It acted to normalize this administration, which is anything but normal - it's the opposite of normal. Just the fact that Jackie can now count herself as being in the same company as Ted Nugent should have been enough to get her to say no. The fact that Trump called political opponents names, like a child in a playground, should be enough to say we cannot allow him to be normalized. I'm think of "Lyin' Ted Cruz" and "Little Marco Rubio, both US Senators. Trump does not respect the offices of others, and should not be granted the respect he refuses to show to others. I'm sorry that someone like you who seems to understand what a disgusting person Trump is should make a case for normalizing his tenure in office. The case you make is very similar to the "love it or leave it" call to "patriotism" that many people on the Right made in regard to people protesting the War in Vietnam. It's a simple matter - just because someone can claim the emblems and badges of political office does not mean that we ignore whether the things they are doing, saying or being are immoral, unethical and/or illegal. Ignoring such behavior normalizes abnormality, accepts the unacceptable. I used to really love Jackie's music. But her voice is gone and so is her image. That doesn't leave much to admire. I don't hate her for it, I'm just really saddened by it.

It was 2010 and Jackie was 10 . The reacted to video was taped not long after in fact. The 7 turning 8 year old Jazz singer Angelina Jordan was equally impressive a couple of year back, however there is still development going on with her in terms of finding material able to bring her artistry into a modern setting. She has done some Amy Winehouse .. Arixsandra Libantino has the edge where vocal power is concerned. Marlisa Punzalan (Australia's Got Talent Winner 2014) was exceptional too. Ronan Keating (mentor) wrote her a quality Final Song, A big Hit. She opened with Yesterday [the Beatles]. She was the both the first and last performer of that Series. Her second performance was incredible.

This was performed in Las Vegas. Jackie went on to be a platinum winning superstar, singing cross-over for the most part. Personally, I think her voice was at its best when she 10-12 years of age, having a richness in the lower registers that would seem impossible for someone her age. David Foster referred to a concert he had with Jackie the year before. Here's a "must hear" rendition of "Angel" which she sang at that concert. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKi2lWmmmZqId7M

We find out later she had previous experience as young Eponine and young Colette on Broadway stage in Les Miserables, and a season on TV in Electric Company, etc., befor her audition on AGT. She's great. Not a lot after AGT, because she went back to school to get her high school diploma, which she got just last year. She should be building up her career now, at least I hope so. It looks like that you have started anew fad called "Reaction Videos ". Now 12 years later looks like everyone else and their dog is hopping on the bandwagon with their own "Reaction Videos".

My late wife and I used to listen to a lot of music together. I lost her over 6 years ago and haven't listen to music near as much as we used to because it reminded me of her too much and how I miss her. But lately I've been watching shows The Voice and others. That is how I find Grace, and being new people without bringing back old memoirs has helped me get back into listening to music again.

paulhoff It's so important that you can listen to music again without having any connection to the past. It means you've "moved on" at least to some extent. We have to do this to continue to feed the heart and soul.

Hello! I have listening tonyour reactions and i love them. I now wonder if you could do one on a song from a Swedish group called Dirty Loops? The smoth song called ”Breakdown” or the more funkier ”Rock You”. It would be great to hear what you think about them. All the best! Håkan in Sweden

Jackie was so exciting when she first started out. But that was a while ago, so I'd be interested in watching your reaction to some of her recent videos - if you can find them. I probably will draw some flak for this, but I find her current voice to have lost a lot of the power it once had. I have never heard anything about her having strained her vocal cords, but that seems likely to me. She cannot reach the upper ranges she used to, and when she goes for high notes, she twists her head so that it's cocked at an odd angle - like she's struggling to reach the upper notes. And, like I said, those upper notes are weak when they should be strong. Her voice is still pure and clear, with perfect pitch, but without the power, I fear her career as a singer is pretty much over. She can still get people to attend her concerts, so there's still something there. So, I'd really like to see you react to her newest stuff. I agree. She was at her best age ages 10-12. Don't know where her power went. Also, her singing these days no longer has the amazing phrasing that tugged so at the heartstrings. Above, I commented with a video of her singing "Angel," where her phrasing was utterly perfect. Now, it seems like she's no longer "into" her songs. Here's another amazing performance from that same concert with David Foster. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKDPm3qoZs-Nbqc

I would argue her voice is just as good now, if not better than its ever been. Here she is performing Nessun Dorma from a 2017 concert. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2Kvk4mpjKunY9E

She is better than ever and off to Juilliard to be polished into the most amazing performer of her generation . Here from an audience camera phone with a mic the size of a pencil eraser. kzbin.info/www/bejne/poTNmmCug9VkptU At a show like this she'll do 15 songs and 40 shows a year, so will protect her voice, over the course of an evening. But the voice is more powerful and more well rounded. In fact remarkably so. Add a gusty wing and 102 degrees at that show. A side by side cut you would notice a massive increase in her abilities and power. All that's gone is the 11yr old bell tone and the little girl wow factor.

Rehoboth I’m an amateur violinist. No tin ear You can’t hear her lost upper-range power, like many others here. I’m disappointed no ne can give a link which disproves me. Jackie’s intonation and timbre are exquisite, so I hope Juilliard can help her with her upper range. It may be that she’s simply protecting her voice. I hope that’s the case. We shall see.
