Lyrics:
Now, when the day goes to sleep
And the full moon looks
The night is so black that the darkness cooks
Don't you come creepin' around
Makin' me do things I don't wanna do
Can't believe that you need my love so bad
Come sneakin' around tryin' to drive me mad
Bustin' in on my dreams
Makin' me see things I don't wanna see
'Cause you're da Green Manalishi
With the two prong crown
All my tryin' is up all your bringin' is down
Just takin' my love then slippin' away
Leavin' me here just tryin' to keep from followin' you

Kirk Hammett is playing Peter Green's Les Paul from back when they recorded this originally. For guitar nerds this is about the same as seeing someone walk on stage with John Mayall and play 'Steppin Out' on the Eric Clapton's Beano guitar. That is to say it's epic. Glad to see Hammett playing it on stage still and not storing it behind bullet proof glass in a vault somewhere.

@@6stringsofgrace The thought of anyone playing Green's famous guitar reminds me of the time John Kennedy had a gathering of Nobel laureates at the White House and he said that it was the greatest assembly of brain power in the White House since the last time Thomas Jefferson had dined there alone. Nobody is going to compare favorably to Peter Green playing that guitar. Whoever is playing it will pale in comparison to Green, and he didn't even like that guitar much. It's just incredibly cool to see it on stage with original member(s) of Fleetwood Mac playing this song again all these years later.

I agree since I never really was a big Metallica fan! Though I do like both Mac and Priest's version of this song!! Everyone is right above about what they've all stated because after all the song is called the (Peter) Green Manalishi. Therefore the song was definitely about him. However Priest proved that it was an incredibly excellent track to turn into a harder rock one. Like with most English band's once they got to America it was very hard to make it early on. It took Mac about 8 years and Priest about 6. For God's sake how many albums did Mac have before they got played on the radio? Maybe 10?? Priest basically had to resort to playing covers on 3 of their albums to even get played at all! "Diamonds & Rust", "Better by You, Better than Me" and this one!!

He ought to. He bought and is playing Peter Green's original '59 Les Paul here! '58-'60 Sunburst Gibson Les Pauls are kind of the Stradivarius of electric guitars and as such some of the most prized and most expensive of all vintage instruments. This particular guitar owned by Peter Green, Gary Moore and now Kirk Hammett is possibly the most valuable of all time! Lucky bastard! Anyway, I agree. It was nice to hear Hammett just get down and dirty with some classic blues!

For what it worth, I think that this is an awesome reworking of the Green Manalishi and one that all the players of this version should be justifiably proud of. The fidelity of the HD footage and audio of this recording was really something to behold on the big screen when I saw it about a month ago and is probably the best recorded live concert I have ever seen from a technical point of view.... great kudos to the production team. As for the playing, well its pretty hard to go past Kirk's solo which was absolutely stunning and a totally worthy tribute, however Billy's vocals were awesome with that old blues growl which suits the this genre so well and they really gave this a forceful, dark undertone to the song...the low end thump of Messer's Fleetwood, Bronze and Starkey brought a polyrhythmic, wallop to the engine room, to keep everyone on course...Mick summed it up at the end of the song when you can hear him say " the Green Manalishi....Nailed it!"....they certainly did...I can't wait for the Blu Ray to come out and may have to view the online stream today while I wait...12 out of 10!

@@philippehendrickx1109 Ts not. Not even about my taste. Depends on criteria. Playing on THIS guitar (after we know what class of two players) means next level & he has it not. He CAN'T have it, not capable. What you call 'his style' is just all he can do. Decently learnt. Talent is so minimal ts painfully obvious. He is just a guitarist who was lucky to fall in place in this band but especially with THIS guitar becomes obvious how minimal his impact is. On anything. Reminds me of Ronnie Wood. Both can be nice fellows, but talents are painfully minimal. Just ridiculous even trying to evaluate 'em... Not BS, sorry, I'm not even excited talking about it, ts just too plain to see.
