5:56 "No beat has dropped yet!" *literally 5 seconds later* NASTY RIFF KICKS IN . I also like how he takes so long to drop a beat. It keeps the listener at the tips of their toes. Just like the game, you're always at the tip of your toes.

Mick Gordon has to be on some other level because you’re right about him finding the right frequencies for each sound so they can cut through the mix and he must have so many layers on these mixes, I can’t even imagine how complex they are

Flesh and Metal isn't supposed to have a rolling beat throughout like Rip & Tear, BFG Division, etc.. This one is true to it's name: harsh, grating, and abrupt, but with moments of a smooth riff. The music in the game is composed on the fly based on your actions. They took stems from each track and mapped them to actions and situations in the game. If you're on a kill streak the music will ramp up, performing finishers in quick succession will change the music as well. That's the genius of the in-game music.

Doom's soundtrack will always be the best game OST for any game ever in my opinion. The music itself is able to hype you up even if you're not really a fan of the genre and when you combine that with the gameplay of the game you just feel like the biggest badass that has ever lived and that's what I think Mick aimed for and he did one hell of a good job with it. I love the soundtrack so much and your reactions and and explanations of what's going on makes me appreciate it even more.

He didn’t use the chainsaw for this particular track. It’s a nine-string guitar and some parts with noise corruption stuff ran through a tape cassette machine. Mick Gordon said he took the tape cassette method from Marilyn Manson or David Bowie. I recommend watching his hour long GDC talk “Doom Behind the Music” for more info.

Mick sampled a few sound effects from the Doom games from the 90s, like the chainsaw and the shotgun, I think, to use it in the soundtrack. You should also check out the Killer Instinct soundtrack, it's a fighting game where Mick did most of the music

You need to look into the Killer Instinct soundtrack. It was a true test of his sheer ability to tackle pretty much ANY genre of music he wanted to and god damn he did it in spades. In particular, just because I know you've mostly just jeard his industrial metal so far, I'm gonna tell you that you should drop everything else and listen to "I'm Back (To Rise)". It's oldschool rap hip hop done with Omega Sparx as the singer and what Mick does with it is nothing but sheer unmitigated hype. It easily beats practically everything else on the market to a bloody pulp. The best part is, just like every other track in the game, I'm Back AKA TJ Combo's theme features a complete remake of TJ's original theme from way back in the 90's era of fighting games and he leverages it in one of the best transitions I've ever heard.
