In the late 80's I worked at the Saw Mill River Country Club in Westchester, NY. There was a place on the second floor where you can look down and watch people play racquetball. I was watching this guy who was really good. One day, a Foreigner song comes on and this guy comes out of the court and starts singing along. Everyone stops and looks over and are amazed. I knew him as Mr Grammatico, I had no idea. And such a nice guy.

I remember when I was 8 years old going to Sharon's Shirt Shack in the small town I lived in...who sold t-shirts with super cool iron on decals. They also sold 33's and 45's in the other half of their store. There was a crowd around the records that day. Why? It was about a week after the release of Double Vision by Foreigner. I decided to skip the cool t-shirt and get that album instead. It was one of the last copies. I got home all excited and showed my brother who was 7 years older than me and had the awesome record player and speakers. He put it on and then we discovered "Hot Blooded". We must have played that song at least 100 times that day...my brother is gone now but those were THE BEST TIMES EVER :)

I look at this and it angers me at what efin Mick did to Lou. Mick took everything for that biggest hit! Not one dime was given to Lou. Mick is so low! If Lou did not sing that song, there would have been no hit. There is no Foreigner without Lou. He is talking there, but he still did not credit Lou with any of the profits from that big hit!
@TheErik249 Жыл бұрын
The music business is full of stories just like the Foreigner story. Contracts. Music publishing rights. Song credits. Who wrote the lyrics. Who wrote the music. Who produced. Who engineered. Etc. Etc. Etc. Bon Jovi, for example. Jon Bon Jovi owns the groups publishing and the name. It is a corporation. Everybody else in the group is an employee of that corporation. Tom Scholz of Boston. It is a corporation. Everybody else in the group was an employee of that corporation. Tom Scholz took ALL of the profit. RUSH decided to split everything 33% for everybody. Jimmy Page owns almost everything Led Zeppelin ever produced. The court system is full of musicians sueing record company management for the profits off of their own material that they produced. John Fogerty of Creedance Clearwater revival recently got his publishing back after 50 years. Paul McCartney recently got 50% of his publishing rights back from the Jackson family. Mick Jones OWNS the publishing rights to all of Foreigners' music because he is a businessman, THEN a musician. If you're going to be in the music business writing your own material and making contracts with record companies, you had better lawyer up and watch your own business VERY carefully.
