I have a question about external antennas. What are the things I need to pay attention to while buying antenna ? These modules communicate each other over 433 mhz band and, that means I need 433 mhz antenna ? is that all ? is there another parameter aside from frequency ? And another parameter is gain. More gain more distance as far as I know.

Basically make this device an XMPP server that could even share its connection over wifi with more than one device and link to other devices over the LoRa connection. Love these gadgets and the possibilities of them. NICE work MickMake :-)

You'll need to make sure you have the correct antenna. This is the usual issue with LoRa range problems.
@totoxahc6 жыл бұрын
@@MickMake I'm pretty sure the modules and antennas are the correct frequency, modules and antennas are marked as 915 MHz, the receptor is using a rubber duck antenna and is programmed using arduino libraries (the LoRa module is in a custom PCB with an SMA connector, the RF trace was calculated to 50 Ohm@915Mhz but not verified), the transmitters are using helical antennas directly soldered to the module and are programmed using custom libraries without arduino, so at least I know that configuration is correct. Unfortunately I don't have equipment to test RF circuits. I'll have to contact the module manufacturer (nicerf).

Hmmmm. I don’t see why not. It’s plain old LoRa Comms. So I don’t think there’s any issue.

You'd need to choose the right frequency etc. (which wikipedia says 915ish, as the US is in Region 2) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISM_band ) You'd have to read up on the FCC docs for using that band though. Just to be on the safe side!
@MickMake7 жыл бұрын
The LoRa frequencies are licensed for devices with sporadic air-time. So as long as you’re not pushing out something like video, there won’t be any issues.
