This was the song back in the day! Sounding like Bootsy and Roger Troutman had a musical child together and named it Instant Replay!

I think roger troutman has an uncredited appearance in this cameo because DJ quik says Roger only taught him how he played the talk box.

Well long road and forgot about this song, me my friends used to play this song in my car and still have the tape. Went to Boston university and attended from 1986 / 1990. Finally got my first car at the age of 19 in 1987 during my junior college year. Still keeping my boat and never going to be selling it anytime soon. After all these years I found my old jam, 35 years ago never goes old.

Man I hear this jam as a teen in the late 80s. Stuck in my head! It was played every night on the Cool Carolina Night segment! Took me years to find this joint cause I thought it was called Rewind the Tape of Time! I heard it in my coworkers office and I Shazamed it! Man it was like finding money in your pants pocket that you forgot about! Love this joint!!!! #Nostalgia

Wow, I remember as a kid having this cassette album. This track in itself was a regular on R&B stations at the time. It hits differently after all these years but in a positive way. Some songs from back in the day I will listen to and wonder, why was it a hit? Not this one. The sound, look, energy, and everything else was classic mid-80s. Everything that Charlie Murphy referenced on what was in during this period. LOL but I Love it!

Classic R&B throwback by Mico Wave using his normal lead vocals and his Sennheiser Vocoder background vocals and the track was recorded between February to April 1987 at United Sound Systems a.k.a. "The Disc" in Detroit, Michigan was engineered and mixed by Mr. Roger Dollarhide and Mr. Mike Lacapelli and Mr. Jim Vitti and was originally mastered at The Hit Factory by Mr. Herb Powers. The track was produced by George Clinton of P-Funk and was co-produced by Bootsy Collins of Bootsy's Rubber Band and with the performance of background vocals by Miss Sheila Washington formerly with Parlet and Jimmy G. And the Tackheads. Taken from the Columbia album Cookin' From The Inside Out. Later will be in a forthcoming post audio production reissue for Audio CD will be reissued by Funky Town Grooves U.S.A. and soon to be released by Autumn 2015 or after.

He on the talkbox , not the vocoder . His patch is just really good lol
@kmelodic8 жыл бұрын
wow didnt know that...one of my fav. been looking for it for so long Thought it was Roger & Zap smh
@mr.lonniebooker32058 жыл бұрын
No, Not Roger. MicoWave did also use both talk box and vocoder as part of his provision for his debut album that he did back then. Also, his album was never released on a CD in the U.S. However, it was released on CD in a Japanese import. Funky Town Grooves hasn't released his reissue called "Cookin' From The Inside Out!!!" Expanded Edition just yet. They still in the process on releasing it and adding about 6 bonus tracks in different versions are Instant Replay in 12 inch promo and 7 inch promo along with Star Search 12 inch mix and 7 inch promo mix and Misunderstood in 12 inch promo and 7 inch promo. He was born as Michael Kerry Lane also known as "Mico Wave" on December 27, 1959 and his birthplace is in Champaign, Illinois.

+Mr. Lonnie Booker . Great info! I always enjoy the story behind the making . I have an old talkbox myself its a real art to using it. love the sound but gonna get a newer one or use my vocoder
