nice video mate, never dropped my lures/jigs to that small before, think 2g jigheads are the smallest I have gone, had a few odd bream when perch fishing, you really have made me think about dropping to even smaller lures like the 0.4 jigheads for some fun over the docks in the warmer months. I have a 0-7g 6,6 rod that would be perfect for this kind of fishing, found this video very useful and good tip about the braid and fluorocarbon too. look forward to seeing more of this type of fishing in your future videos bud

good work mate, iv had roach and rudd hit my lures but iv never had them hook up as iv never used small enough jigheads really, you should try and get some dace! iv only had two on lures so far. iv had a bream on a spoon and once i had a big breamXroach hybrid on a little earthworm lure and long shank size 10 with a few split shot, that was drifting on the river like you would drift real worms. you should try for some ruffe too, id love to get one of them on a lure

First solid catch 😏 nice video luv ul fishing and see you enjoy it too. Started this year with baitcaster with 2 / 3 grams jigs 1 to 7 grams rod great to do. Camera the Bag Rod, net and go and never know what the day brings. Not the first time 1 meter Pike liked mine jigs too or on the dropshot, so use on those waters soft knotwire easy no sleeves and works fine we got alot of Pikes here in the Nederlands. yeah you could, saves messing around with leaders but i like the idea that if i was to hook a bad snag ill be leaving a couple feet of line as opposed to anything from hook to reel in length.

Watching the video again Dom it occurred to me that when using such micro plastics such as these the water clarity would have to be pretty good for the fish to see these tiny lures, but I guess the fact that you filmed this on the canal then this is not necessarily the case?

I tried this the other day using the tiny Nikko Kasei pin worms on a split shot rig, no roach or bream just perch, but it's really frustrating how often they nip at it without fully ingesting it, great fun though on a UL set up

Hi Dom, with the very low resistance from the tiny lures and 1g jig heads i find the line lay on my reel is not too good with the braid bunching up near the lip of the spool, have you experienced this and what would do you think i could do to stop it? thanks bud

That's strange, what size reel are you using and gear ratio? Could be winding in too fast

@@DomFishingUK Shimano Exage 1000 FD, cant remember the gear ratio but i have been using intermittent retrieve, one or two winds of the handle and upward twitch so on, switch to a 3g jig head and it does not happen

Yeah it should be fine mine this one would probably bit a little soft but anything 3-10g cast with a fast action would be ideal for it.

With the roach it's more about consistency , they seem to like a really fast twitch slow retrieve and almost worked at the same level in the water, so rather than up and down they want a straight line.

Use even smaller lures. 1 cm max. Find the smallest twisters you can and just use the tail. Put on a splitshot rig. Destroys the rudd and roach

Thanks for your watching, it was fairly clear with about a foot of visibility, but since this video the waters gone brown and I've still had roach on the lures so I'm sure you'll still have a good chance 😁

Well, i had my first try at micro lure fishing on the GUC yesterday, couldnt have chosen a worst day, 30mph winds and driving rain!! even in the shelter under a bridge i was buffeted, of the casts that did go where i wanted them to go, being used to casting twitching 3-5g along the bottom, i found the very little resistance from the tiny lures and jig head took a bit of getting used too but not on this session though i abandoned after an hour and a half, think i will wait for better weather next time, cheers!!

Yeah I had the same yesterday mate, anything 20mph and over is a waste of time, the hard part is getting a rythm going after jigging larger lures to just making tiny twitches with the rod.

@@DomFishingUK i have tict ice cube 3.5g for perch. Fine for perch and jack pike up to 1.5kg. Thinking buying Crazy fish nano zero carbon 0-1.5g test for using weights up to 1g. Jig heads up to 0.45g perfect for roach and other non predatory fish.
