To your edit, I absolutely hate how true that is. The executives will _never_ blame their poor decisions or predatory business model for their failings. No, they'll blame literally _everyone else,_ from the players for not buying the game to the devs for releasing a game with poor performance (assuredly due to time/budget constraints imposed upon them by the executives). it's _always_ someone else's fault and then they punish those people instead of themselves, resulting in good devs losing their jobs and/or players never getting a new entry in a beloved franchise. God, is there anything worse than greedy corporate executives? They ruin everything they touch!

youre putting up a strawman. Anyone stating that the game is unplayable due to the mtx is using hyperbole. Ive seen people make the argument that the game is intentionally made less convenient to push people towards pay for convenience or acceleration items, but anyone stating X mtx is the reason this game is bad isnt engaging in good faith. That being said, just cuz an mtx doesnt ruin the game doesnt justify its inclusion, nor does it mean we should just accept it. If its so useless that no one has any reason to buy it, then it just shouldnt be there. That way they dont have to place always online requirements and DRM into our single player games that mean we cant play them without internet, and performance takes a hit due to shit DRM implementation. It's a pipe dream, but it is possible. The best way would be to have tens of thousands of people refund the game en masse, citing "MTX in $70 single player game" as the reason. If they see their profit margins hurting more than revenue from the MTX, they'll remove it. That would put the cat back in the bag, but yeah...odds of that happening...

Honestly, the fact that I would have to go into my computer files or PS5 data files to delete my game to restart just to make a new character is completely ridiculous to me. If you can't change your character's appearance, fine, not a fan but it isn't enough to make or break the experience, but let me start over easily when I see my character in a cutscene, realize I need to tweak something, and want to retry. I had to start over in Dragon Age: Inquisition 4 times because the lighting was completely different in the character creation vs the actual gameplay. I didn't really care, I just thought, okay, less eyeliner and lighten the lips a bit because my elf male looks like he's wearing a full face of makeup. If they only want you to have one save file, fine, I guess. A lot of games do that. You can only have one game of Tears of the Kingdom per switch profile. (You can still have multiple saves though). I just honestly do not understand what they were thinking. Sure, they want profit, but if nobody buys your game or everyone is refunding it, you're not going to be selling too many of those 2$ microtransactions, are you?

Lol all you youtubers and streamers, are talking about how its bad to buy games like this as it promotes bad publisher behaviors, while you all sit playing the game. That doesnt work, sorry. You guys also need to avoid promoting this game, and if anything.

Content creators making content?? So wild, so unacceptable... but seriously, If anyone plays the game and enjoys it, that is fine, it is up to the individual.

The MAIN ISSUE here is that the game no longer allows you to start from scratch with a New Game once you already have a save. The first game had it just fine. Imagine, the NEW GAME option disappears from the main menu once you've played the game at least ONCE. And don't tell me you can delete your save manually. That's stupid af. And going by their public statement equivalent of "We'll think about adding New Game on the main menu." you should know by now that they intended for the results. What next? A game that you have to buy again after finishing it once? Oh, wait. There's already a thread about somebody who bought the game now being unable to install and play their copy because they installed the game one too many times and DRM decided it's time for them to buy the game again a.k.a. pay for a renewed DRM licensing.

I'm probably gonna hold off on monster hunter for a while too. Capcom has been slipping

@slowCPU its not the monster hunter team its capcom. The devs who made dd2 are amazung, capcom are the ones forcing the game out early + mtx

Monster hunter world has 500 dollars worth of various mtx, resident evil and dmc 5 also have goofy mtx. doubt they're going to sell any gameplay changing stuff in monster hunter wilds though

Capcom has been doing micro transactions since DMC4 and i guess no one noticed it. Also I'd like to point out it's literally all items and or services you can get in game by just playing it. And it's not like they are even very hard to get in the game either. Since DMC4 yoy could buy the gems to upgrade your characters, in the monster hunter games it was cosmetics, same with the resident evil games, etc but i guess no one has had a problem with it then so why all the sudden now is it a problem?

Why are there so many big corpo stans? They exist to do one thing, give customers what they want. If they don't, complain and hold their feet to the fire. If you don't like their practices, make it known. They're not people and you don't owe them anything.

Why do these companies not get that they can simply make a good game and make a healthy profit from that? And that people will champion it, ie. increase the sales of the game via word of mouth, when it is made with integrity/respect for the consumer.

It's not enough for them. Infinite growth is the name of the game when you're beholden to shareholders.
