Hello Brian I am a Mexican fan of Oasis, I got a poster in 1997 of that single in a record store at the central bus station in Mexico City, I keep it hanging in my bedroom to this day, it is one of my most precious objects that I have from the band. After seeing it daily for years, I always wondered if the image had been edited since I always saw that there were repeated people on it, today the doubt has been cleared up. Thank you for sharing this story, all the information you offer us in your videos is priceless. I'm a big fan of your work, I'm also a graphic designer and I love everything you do. I send you a big greeting and hug from Mexico.

These stories are fascinating. So much effort and detail and expense for single covers. Fun to know the band was so involved in these seemingly minor things.

I'm sure I mentioned this on a previous video but it has to be said again. Oasis' album and single covers completely lost their soul in the 00's - the Microdot sleeves were always superb and the passion was there to see!

my mum is near the back on the cover and i kind of found this pretty cool she’s on the inside aswell where you get the view of all the people looking up from the preachers view and shes all the way on the right too

Remember this was pre Euro times. Being Spanish, I remember waiting impatiently for my local record store to import these singles for me. I would happily spend 500 or 600 pesetas on each of those Oasis singles. That's around 3-4 Euros. Can you imagine getting 4 new Oasis tracks with their classic b sides with that fantastic artwork for that money? They were indeed the best there was at the time...and that's why we are here today after all these years. Thanks Brian for this serie of videos.

Yeh mate, the good old peseta 👍 I lived in the Canary Islands back in the early 90s when you could eat for a day on 500 pesetas (£2.50), and for an extra 100 you could buy a packet of cigarettes and a 1 litre carton of wine 😵 Then I went back to the Canaries in the early 2000s as a tourist, and they had replaced the peseta with the euro. What you were able to buy with that same 500 pesetas (£2.50) now cost virtually double - you know what you can buy for 3 euros over there? Fuck all except maybe a pint of beer 😆 In my opinion, Spain (and probably even more countries who replaced their currency with the euro) made a big mistake by swapping 🙄

A fellow graphic designer here……33 years at it…..really enjoy the videos and hearing the stuff we used to say when talking shop……and it’s great to see the desk like architects had on the background with the lamp where we used to draw out ideas on the large layout pads….with Rotring pens or pencils before we got some visualising done by the guys with the markers with the flat heads I can’t remember the name of haha. When I worked in London after graduating I worked for a company called ADC that used to do all the WEA record covers etc plus some others I assume….they were in Paddington…..

Really waiting for this video to happen, lol I was working at Bulldog Tools on this day when word spread that Oasis were up Darly (Darlington st) "shooting a video" at the blind school. At dinner time i went to investigate and all the hullabaloo had all disappeared. Feeling a bit disappointed i went for a pint at the Crispin before returning for my afternoon shift. I was in the tap room opposite and saw these scally types and it took 10 minutes to realize actually who they were. There were 2 lasses working the bar and one them rushed home to get CD's for them to be signed and the other had got hold of Liams empty Guinness glass and vowed to keep it forever, lol. BTW i always thought that our Shaun was wearing his own clothes, lol.

Thanks, got out my 12" single and sure enough, the same guy appears 3 times. NEVER would've noticed. I remember exactly where I was when this video premiered on MTV in the US. My friend Brendon Greenwood's house- we were out skateboarding and I made my friends drive me to the closest television for the debut. Later, I spray painted the lyrics on the bike path, lol. Epic tune.

At the top of the steps across the road is a primary school called St Catherines and I was there in year 6 that day. We all knew about what was going on and we was excited. I just wish I would've climbed over the school fence to have a look. How the time has flown since then.

Great docu!!!! I was 15 in 1997 painting the local vigarage's fence on 7th of july waiting for the record shop to open where I bought the single. Come lunch I bicycled home with my mate to listen to it, we got through DYKWIM and the first bars of Stay Young before we had to go back to work imagining how Stay Young would continue once we heard it again.... Later in the year I bought the DKYWIM poster and an additional single which I still got wrapped in. This because it's my fave artwork of all Oasis singles. Happy days!

Great Video, really interesting. I was lucky enough to work just up the road from where the cover was shot at Bulldog Tools on Darlington Street East. Liam was his usual self on the day shouting his mouth off, proper funny. My boss was lucky enough to get a Polaroid picture snapped and signed on the day. The building that they were hanging out of the windows of is now sadly gone, but the steps are still of course there. Every time I take a trip in to Wigan I look at the steps and it brings back memories of that day. ✌️

Another great and informative video Brian. I'm so happy you decided to do this series because it's so fascinating to learn about the entire creative process including the info about the band walking into the bar (I would have cried too upon seeing Liam), the band and extras hanging in the gym (Liam dancing with Phyllis), Liam photographing the extras (I wonder if he has those pictures still), basically every detail revealed (down to the cost of hiring the police). Absolutely fascinating. What a time to be alive. D'you know what I mean? Peace and love forever.

I remember my Mom picking me up after school, my freshman yr of high school, to go pick that album up from our local Hastings Music Store, a large music store w/CDs, music mags, including UK imports, & just band t-shirts, posters, things like that... And this album was supposed to save rock n roll, no pun intended, all around the world, & particularly in America! Ppl forget just how massive they actually were. Yeah, man.

D’you know what I mean was made probably at the pinnacle of fame for the band, coming off the back of what’s the story morning glory and all the success that had brought globally for that brief period in time they were quite literally the biggest band on the planet, Liam in the music video wearing shades and a green parka and Noel with that Gibson Flying V guitar on location at what looked like a derelict military base, Such a cool image and a incredible time for oasis
