Your hair is very pretty, I know I’m late to this but I’d really love to see how you did your hair for wedding or wedding photo shoots?

I did so much research and wanted Sisterlocks but the cost made me cry 😢. I ended up unhappy with them and took them down. I realize I want to start my own and care for my own, so now I want to try traditional locs. I appreciate you bringing up ur friend, inspiration without the work is simply frustrating. I Have been there soooo she’s NOT alone 🤦🏾♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣 now I am ready

"Inspiration without the work" is so perfect! I will say, starting and maintaining your own locks, completely changes the experience and journey. It's much more personal 🤗

The one mistake I made was not really putting much thought into getting my parts really straight. The back of my head is okay but it’s not super perfect like the front is. It’s growing on me everyday since I’m committed and not going to take them down since I’m 5 months in lol . I just say it gives my Locs personality 😂 I agree with you on the loc envy. You were my inspiration when I first started researching the look I wanted because it’s closest to sister locks. I’ve never been so fixated on having mine look exactly like anyone else’s because I know all hair is different. But I love your videos & your Locs are gorgeous! I hope your wedding is everything you dream it will be 💜🖤

Thank you!!! 💕💕 And yes, locs with personality are the best!! Mine have so many quirks, but they're unique to me and that makes them even better.

I use all the same products as Damian Walter as far as washing. I even use his loc wash. For styling I go Yannies way and use rose water and oil to moisturize. Honestly the combination of both work for me. As far as color I just don't plus I love my black hair. Great video and your locs are beautiful.

I'm still trying to find the perfect balance between the two methods. Sometimes it's difficult to know what my hair wants but I agree! If you can figure out how to combine them perfectly, your locs will flourish

Hi! What is the purpose of using protective styles for locs? I understand it's needed for loose hair to avoid manipulation. Is it to extend the time between re-tightenings?
@ElleKeen4 жыл бұрын
To prevent a ton of manipulation is definitely a big part of it, but protective styling also protects your ends and your hair from the elements. So like I mentioned in my video, in colder months, it's better to keep my hair in braids because my hair retains moisture better than it would if my locs were down and fully exposed.

I want to dye mine red eventually, but like you, my hair couldn't take that double chemical back when I was relaxed. I would hate to lose any locs to color. 😒

Having hair break off due to coloring is the worse but I definitely didn't learn my lesson the first time 😂.

What size parts did you do when you started out? Also, I love your voice. 🙂
@ElleKeen4 жыл бұрын
I tried to get as close to sisterlocks "sizing" as possible without feeling like they were so small they'd break off. I'm not sure how best to answer this, but my parts are anywhere from the size of the tip of my pinky (around the edges and center of my head) to half that size (near the nape and ears). Hope that makes sense! And thank you! 💕 I encourage you to check out my Up Close and Personal video also. It's pretty much a 360 of my locs.
