So I’m 3 years locked going on 4, in the beginning stage NO you are not supposed to condition your hair for at least the 1st 4 to 5 months. That’s why your locks are slipping and unraveling. You have to give your hair time to start locking. As far a moisturizing just get a spray bottle of water and spritz your hair! With washing, you can wash when ever just No conditioner until you locked! Loved the video, best wishes on your lock journey!

I’m four months in & was told absolutely no conditioner. It slows the progress. I’ve had no issues with just water. My hair is flourishing with no product! Good luck on your journey!

😂🤣😂🤣it’s ok! Just leave them be! Conditioner will stop the locking process though. It’s normal to be concerned. I had to fight the urge but I’m glad I did! You got this!!!

@@simone974 Avoid conditioners and detanglers. Any product that is meant to help detangle your hair can cause your starter locs to loosen and unravel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3zGgYCHnLWio9E

I hope that you have overcome your fears and retightened your loc’s with a 4 point rotation for thick hair yourself. The first time feels awkward but with patience you will finish and gain confidence along with speed leading to renewed self confidence!🎉 P.S. Conditioners cause your new installation not to lock and slip unless you have a very tight 4C curl pattern.

Is the conditioner you’re using a detangling conditioner ? That can add on to slippage in the starter loc stage as well . But they look great

I see other people have already told you about the conditioner no no LOL but also if you're still having scalp problems my loctician suggested that I use something called scalpacine on my scalp after washing

U r NOT supposed to condition locs it will go against the locking process among other things like cause slippage n unraveling that's y she didn't do it ... ONLY WATER BASED SHAMPOOS NO PRODUCTS (Until u r completely locd) u r a newbie!!! Goin forward I would suggest u ask ur loctition questions first before u do or use n e thing on ur locs to be more knowledge ITS REALLY A JOURNEY!!!

I’m 1 month in 😊 My stylist advised me not to wash. I’m ok with that as 1) I’m lazy and 2) no dandruff …. I only use rose water or regular water and I only mist while braided as my hair, like yours is prone to slippage. When you washed it at home did you band your hair? Edit: and I’m just seeing that you posted two months ago… let go to a current video lol to see your journey 😆 ❤

Hey Crystal, thanks for sharing your story. I know you will find our way on this journey. Part of the wonderfulness of being locd is the low maintenance aspect and letting your hair just "be". The general rule is no conditioner for at least a year. I know its hard. I am locd 10 months on August 10 and I cannot wait for my one year when I can put a little conditioner on when I wash. Water and oil have surprising worked very well. But I did need to adjust my thinking about using products. And accept the look of my hair while its going through the process. Overall I'm very pleased although now my biggest disappointment is about 20 or so locs have horrible bunching. They don't look like locs at all just bunched up hair. All of my other locs are progressing beautifully. Oh well... this too is an exercise in patience and acceptance. I started out with 220 locs combined some and now have 212. Good luck during your next five weeks. Your locs look GREAT!😍👍🏻

@@ByCrystalWilliams Hello! So glad to share with you! I fill a plastic applicator bottle with equal parts almond oil and coconut oil. I also add a little bit of OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti Breakage Serum. I have a misting spray bottle that I only fill with distilled water. This is all I use. I am very fortunate to not have any scalp issues so I've had no trouble with these simple products. Best wishes to you!

Try mixing aloe Vera juice with some distilled water. Aloe Vera is very moisturizing. Also add some Jamaican black castor oil to you oil mixture when oiling your scalp.
