1:50 its important to note that mang0 crossed up with the shine both times. meaning lucky tried to DI both of those shines out, but since mang0 crossed him up, it turns into DI in since he hit from the right side and not the left. this is a more falco specific thing but its important to know even if you dont play falco so that you can learn how to DI when fighting a falco

This is why melee is cool. It's not delivering just some stale moves shit. DI means you are rewarded at the top level for picking _new options._ This is how cool play wins out over lame play. That and banning wobbling, just for keeping things fresh and fast is what I'm getting at. Amsah tech can make things less robust but those techs are smooth and look amazing for viewers.

1:20 So about that dash attack. That was away DI. He was expecting a dash tipper fair and wanted to avoid the Ken combo. If you had done the fsmash it would have killed as well. 2:49 You are expecting a shine or utilt (as falco combos work) both of which launch nearly straight up. However with in DI Plup avoids the risk of having his stock put in danger by an offstage dair. (they both launch about 90° so with DI in you go a little behind falco meaning dair will clip the ledge.) However Mango hits with dtilt that you actually do need to DI away (dtilt launches at about 70°) to avoid follow ups. after that you are right though.

hakeembisiolu you’re right about the first thing but I still think my analysis for the second scenario is fine. There are always lots of potential follow ups for Falco combos because he’s a character with SOOO many mixups. Glad to see an analysis with even more potential options
@Dr3am95537 жыл бұрын
fsmash doesn't combo from nair at that percent. That's the only reason i know lol. If he was DIing for fsmash he was worried for no reason.
@noodletribunal97933 жыл бұрын
this was super helpful to understand for me cause i'd always want to combo into dair but people would just di away and make it impossible. but if i start comboing into fsmash, then they are going to stop di'ing away, then i get to do my fun dair combos etc. i think of it as giving them a reason to di how i want them to.

you know what? you should do att little series with these : maybe combo of the week , ord just whenever you feel like it. it shouldn't just be a highlight (god knows we have enough of those on youtube), but rather a short but good analysis of the combo. if you make it in The style of this (very nice) little video, it would probably not take tons of time editing- or recording -wise, but yet it would be quality content with an educational touch . maybe worth considering? ☺

Lol those shines in that first Mango combo were DI mixups too
@Radarssbm8 жыл бұрын
Watofu definitely possible they were, but shine is also a good follow up with Falco in general since it offers a ton of follow up opportunities so long as the don't SDI. Because of this, it's possible mango simply reacted. Either way, I don't think the shine illustrate DI mix ups as effectively as the final hits of the combo do
@Borbborbborb8 жыл бұрын
***** Mango hit with the back part of the shines because Lucky was holding away. It's a pretty staple part of Falco's combo game right now

Unfortunately I don't know the whole route yet, and because I'm taking 7 classes in college right now, I've been really tight for time. That's why I've been doing more smash content, because it's hard to manage speedrunning and school

you cant DI in on a tipper, it sends you diagonally. more of like a DI up
@Radarssbm7 жыл бұрын
DI in usually just means some form of survival DI. Not necessarily holding towards opponent. It’s just the opposite of DI that sends you far away
@M00P357 жыл бұрын
absolutely, but i could see that terminology as being misleading for someone who doesnt know how DI works

NoBigDealMedia honestly you’d be surprised by how little people know how, and how easy it is to misunderstand concepts that are simple to experienced players, like DI mixups. Plus, it’s totally understandable for new players not to understand this kind of thing.

Nope. No. No no no. Dawg, look, mango literally did a bair and he noticed he could connect a dair. Seriously, this game ISNT THAT serious. Tbqh mango wasn't thinking of di MUs, IMO, and he could tell he could connect the dair. Source: me. It's not that hard.
@Radarssbm7 жыл бұрын
NoBigDealMedia it’s unlikely Mango wasn’t consciously thinking about exactly how Lucky would DI, but I disagree with the idea that it’s as simple as “he couldn’t connect a dair.” To be unpredictable Mango went for a bair here, but in other situations he might go for a nair to knock lucky far away. Falco is one of the characters that relies on DI mixups the most in the game and a lot of Mango’s punish game is built around his. It’s a situational awareness he’s built up from playing for so long. For the average player though, they don’t understand the idea of mixups at all so it never crossed their mind that people would think this way. The point is to illustrate how he could chosen a different move but he chose the one he did hoping that Lucky would DI in. Smash is actually a super complex game, but it’s true that like all video games, every choice isn’t consciously made, it’s more the result of muscle memory etc.

I'm not convinced this guy is even serious.. only someone who knew this game could make such an infuriating post. But in the case he is not a complete troll... you couldn't be more wrong. You can see these tutorials and possibly grasp it but not really be able fathom how it happens in actual gameplay. Things slowly click in melee... it has a lot of "a- ha" moments. A better player is just smirking as everything they are doing to beat you is going over your head. Source: me. this game really is that hard
