I remember the big brouhaha that you created. It was discussed on many of the canning channels. It is “not acceptable “ blah blah blah. However, as you mentioned Tattler followed suit. I think they owe you a finders fee or commission or something. Thanks for what you do, Pam and Jim!

Jim thank you! I have gotten those messages on many of my responses and not only on your channel! Very irritating. I report them now. Thank you for that experiment!! I really don't like the plastic tattler lids. I can't tell if they are sealed. I like the pop in the metal lids. Glad they changed their lids! I vacuum sealed some of my dried food in the tattler lids and they were sealed when i put them on the shelf and I just happened to look at those jars and found that the seal had broken but I couldn't see it till I opened the jar.

I'm not surprised Jim did that! For as much time and energy as Pam puts into these experiments, I think a bit of a "show" is appropriate! Thank you, it's nice to know this is a real option in canning. I'm very disappointed about the YETI. I had heard replacing the batteries was an option as well.

I am glad to know Tattler has the metal lids too now. It makes some feel a little more secure, hearing that ping. I know I have some brand of metal lids that don't ping, and it masked some fails. I have had success with their plastic lids though. 👍

I can't thank you enough for testing the Tattler gaskets with used metal lids. I was waiting to hear your results before buying gaskets. I had previously bought Tattler lids with rings. I bought a dozen rings-not 100, because I don't even have room in my apartment for 100 jars of anything-for a mere US$5.50 (46¢ each) and free shipping. People can be brutal. From your previous videos, I know you're able to tune out the noise and keep doing your experiments (like you did with the Nesco canner, which I also appreciated) as you see fit. We need you, and we trust you! I imagine by now you've realized it's not only homesteaders who are following you. I live in an apartment in a suburb of Milwaukee, so no room for gardening. But I love the fresh taste of the food I canned in the summer. Jim, thank you for taking care of us.

Thank @RoseRedHomestead sharing this testing process. I just binged all the videos about this. I also shared with my mom and she said that in her younger days and canning with her mom, they always replaced the gasket as needed and reused the metal lids. They didn't have the purchasing convenience that we had today. Hmmm...she is 82. Wisdom is golden and sealed!

Oh wow that Tatler ring with a regular metal use lid is a great idea! I never even thought about that. Here’s one thing that I have done in case of a problem in the canning supplies. I’ve bought stainless steel bands and screens for sprouting seeds. Well I can use an older band that I might not use for canning any longer for sprouting seeds. But I’m keeping the stainless steel bands in case of an emergency. They will never get old rusty or chipped.

I was so perplexed when the coolers became so popular. People were just naming the brand and how well they worked. I was confused because I had no idea how many secret preppers were out there. Then they mentioned beer or how much they cost, I finally put it together. They were just being trendy with the newest consumerism gear! Not off grid preparedness! I will say that the coolers do work well though
