Hi Tommy, I just wanted to let you know that I'm one of your almost 1/4 million subscribers who has gotten a great deal out of your videos. The practicality, the detail you go into, and the wealth of information on why you chose one method rather than another, all helps new woodworkers like me get a great start. I built houses but it's not the same things as making your own tools! I've made your track saw guide (and drilled the view holes before running the saw through it). I've used JB Weld epoxy after watching your drill powered disc sander video, and bought plans and have everything ready to make a disc sander, and later a jig saw stand. I think your videos are top-notch, highly informative videos comparable (though different styles and types of info) to JSK Koubou and Paul Sellers for ways to approach a problem. I know life moves on and I watched two or three years of videos in a few months last year, but I'm looking way forward to your next. Hope life is treating you well! Take care.

I see this and just think how amazing this would be for a portable shop on locations. It houses everything you need and still does not take up a large amount of space so in the back of a van it would fit perfectly. And that makes this absolutely genius.

I built a micro shop from Tommie's plans. Being a handyman and not needing a storage box, I added legs that folded under the microshop for loading the ms into my truck. Having seen several vids where the shop owners had more than one table saw, something I did not think I needed but upon leaving my MS set up in my shop I found I used it quite often for preset repeat cuts on projects. Additionally I added a scrap piece of hardwood to the lever on my rotary saw on the MS, now I don't have to get on my hands and knees to find the lock lever to adjust the blade heught. My PC circular saw switch bit the dust and no replacements were available so I direct wired the saw to the switch on the MS. LOTS less expensive than a good quality replacement saw.

Awesome, I bought the plans recently as I am renovating a house and requiring a all in one workshop would be more efficient than setting up all my tools. I think the box design is okay but not portable enough in design. Being able to compact it to fit it inside a trunk alongside the microshop would add some flexibility. Anyway great work Tommy! Looking forward to working on it soon.
@OneMinuteWorkbench4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for picking up the plans, and good luck with the project. I'm not sure how much space you have in your trunk, but with the MicroShop inside, you might be able to get it fit. At that point though, you'll definitely want the help of a friend for loading and unloading into your vehicle. Anyway, good luck with the remodel!

One option to consider... A box with a hole on the side where a removeable lever can be used to hoist the entire contents up, and locks in place, while you place boards across it to form a platform. Another idea is similar to a router lift, with 4 screw shafts in the corners, with a belt around all of the pulleys on the screw shafts. Have a hole on the side where a cordless screwdriver with a 1/4 or 3/8" socket adapter can fit through the hole and raise/lower it. There are T-nuts that go through the wood on each corner of the base of the saw.

How about if the sides of the storage box unfolded... like petals? Then lift one side - you get one leg, opposite side - second leg. Remaining sides fold down nicely. Lock them together for stability and ready to go... maybe not the greatest solution but plenty of new challenges :)

I see the wheels can lock, but any trouble with the microshop sliding on the bench top or the bench or micro shop tipping back or to the left side when using the table saw, particularly with larger work pieces? Would be good to have the Microshop secured to the bench somehow
@OneMinuteWorkbench4 жыл бұрын
The MicroShop has large rubber feet, and is very slip resistant, especially on the semi-gloss paint I used on the top of the storage container. If you desired, you could route out holes (let's say about 1/2" deep) where the feet go. That would make it pretty much impossible to slide off the top. I hope this helps!

@OneMinuteWorkbench4 жыл бұрын
The tools are listed in the plans, but you could get away with different tools as long as they are relatively the same size. Check out the product description on the website (link in description), and scroll down. There are diagrams of the tools I used with their sizes. I hope this helps!

What program do you use for creating your plans?
@OneMinuteWorkbench3 жыл бұрын
I use a handful of programs, but if you’re looking for recommendations, my top suggestions would be SketchUp, Fusion360, or OnShape. All three have free options. SketchUp is easiest to learn, but Fusion360 and OnShape are more robust. With that robustness comes a pretty steep learning curve though. So if you just want to get your feet wet, go with SketchUp. If you want to get crazy about it, try the other two. I hope this helps!

@@Panthineguardian Yea i can understand, but like he said, his other designs had their own issues. so he did try. (My guess is he is also a little dissapointed that he couldn't find a better solution) I guess sometimes you don't need to reinvent the wheel :) modify it and make the lid you like :) That will add your own touch to it.

Thanks for the feedback! There were lots of restrictions when it came to making something that was going to hit all marks (simple, inexpensive, durable, stable, sealed, the right height in both stored & working positions, able to get the Microshop out without having to lift 80 pounds, etc.) I considered flip lid, but it'll raise the height to an uncomfortable working position. Now, if you take away the requirement for it to be sealed, that will open up lot of possibilities (more mechanical aspects become much easier). Either way, I'm sorry you're disappointed, but I hope you come up with a design you enjoy. Keep me posted - I'd love to know how it goes!
