Most modern fans and basketball "analysts" can't understand why MJ was so dominant because they never saw him play. So rather than going back and studying game film, they try to belittle Jordan's competition instead. Thats why I love these types of videos. Now fans can see the technical attention to detail that went into everything he did on the floor. Hopefully more people will come to appreciate how hard he worked to perfect his craft.

@Ris3Up85 ... You have no clue as to what you are talking about. You base your argument on numbers only but don't take everything else into account. G.O.A.T status is about every facet, not just numbers. Why can't Lebron play off the ball? Why does he cherry-pick rebounds and assists? Why is his freethrow shooting spotty? Why is his defense weak? Why does he not have a more complete post game? Why is his midrange jumper mediocre? I could go on and on kid!

Unless you actually play ball, you won't understand how hard it is to be consistent at re-creating your moves from either side of the court. Most players have go to moves that they can mostly do from a specific area on the court. Example, when some players drive right they can't fade away the same or step back the same or vice versa. MJ was able to do everything from anywhere which takes tons of technical skills.

I just found this video and I've watched it at least 5 times already and I just now noticed that he doesn't simply keep the ball high, it looks like he's actually using the ball pickup motion as momentum to get more lift on his jump. If you delete the ball from all these fade aways or just imagine that the ball is not there it looks like the type of arm swing motion you would normally use to increase your vertical jump. Michael Jordan is a basketball savant. No one comes close. #MicroSkills indeed. I love this freaking game so freaking much.

These fadeways were the hardest moves to emulate (other than the insane things he did above the rim of course). Even without defenders on you, it takes so much strength and hang time if you were at any decent range. Many times his actually release point was near the college 3 point line while falling away. That's just insane.

@Josh-sk5xd
@Josh-sk5xd 4 жыл бұрын
master of disaster Exactly. Mj was like a computer out on the court analyzing the floor, he could do it all and switch it up on a dime. It’s just crazy to think that he averaged close to 30PPG at the age of 35 with his OFF THE BALL GAME while playing in a more physical/defensive era and while being the number 1 option and without having another teammate that demanded double teams, plus playing in the Triangle System which reduced his stats. All of that in 98 while having the ball in his hands FOR ONLY 3MINS & 45 SEC A GAME. That’s pretty incredible but I’m not surprised because it’s MJ we’re talking about here lol, he could do it all on the court.
@masterofdisaster9194
@masterofdisaster9194 4 жыл бұрын
Josh yeah I could go on all day but most people just don’t get it, good to see some do like yourself. To add to what you said Jordan would analyse his teams weaknesses. They never had a dominant big man in the Bulls in a big man dominant era. Jordan was literally the low post threat and became one of the most lethal low post players as a shooting guard which is unheard of, especially with handchecking and no defensive 3 second. Dean Smith actually said Jordan’s best position was point guard. Jordan did fill that role once for an injured Paxson and had 10 triple doubles in 11 games. His stats during that stint were ridiculous. Jordan however just adapted his game to suit whatever the team needed. In his case, efficient scoring option who will take over when needed especially in the 4th, low post threat, lock down defender. This allowed the triangle offence to flow and Scottie to run the point which was his most useful role.
@Josh-sk5xd
@Josh-sk5xd 4 жыл бұрын
master of disaster Exactly bro!! Glad to know you get it! Yes I’m very aware of MJ’s short stint at the PG position for those 24 games and how he almost averaged a TD in those 24 games, and had he played at the PG position from the start of that season he would’ve averaged a TD for the season! And you’re right, Dean Smith did say that MJ could of been and would have been the greatest PG had he started and stayed at that position from the beginning of his NBA career. No surprise that MJ’s nickname in his HS and College days was Magic lol. But yes what was truly impressive and ridiculous was that Mj was in essence/played the part of A DOMINANT BIG for his team because he was a master in the post and because he was a master on defense when he would help out on defense against the opposing team center as a 6’6 SHOOTING GUARD like you said smh just ridiculous!! There’s really no comparison lol and MJ is clearly on a different level then anyone else. Will we someday see a better player? Maybe but as of now I haven’t witnessed anyone better/greater then Mj or even close to him when it comes to the game of basketball

Lol. Also his hulk smash bulldozer offensive fouls, elbow smash clear outs. The nuance is that the league refuses to call it on him for his career. Kids if you want to learn how to play real b-ball you have to look at the old school. look at Magic, Jordan, Bird and their students like Kobe. This era is not real bball, it resembles Harlem Globetrotters style exhibition games. Anynleague that doesn’t flow it’s own rules tomfavor one or two “superstars” with limited bag, is a league in decline. They give out fake assists and and 1’s, rebounds, allow walks and carries , allow glaring offensive fouls to certain players, play with outcomes to favor a certain team by calling more fouls against the opposing teams, took away defensive tools to create artificial,superstars etc. This has ruined the sweet, balanced game that the greats played. Videos like this truly exposes todays game for what it is. Thank you.

Anyone saying that MJ has small defenders, bro, he's a 2, it's not his fault that he is 6'6" SG. Also, if you watch how he plays, he creates those plays, he always moves around and does not let his defenders get near him, and most guys at his size or bigger can not catch him with his speed and agile movements. That's why he is called the Black Cat. Imagine Iverson, with his quickness, then make him 6'6, and that's MJ. If a taller player guarded MJ, they'll be left in the dust, that's why teams on his Era let their PG guard MJ because they were the only ones fast enough to catch up with him. Stephen Curry's off ball movement? Amazing right? MJ did that before him, just like other great scorers did, but MJ did it the best at his Era, that's why he is unguardable. The only player I can think of who has the same off ball movement as MJ on his Era is Reggie Miller.

Kobe used more pump fakes & fakes in general, half spins, shot & took more tougher 3s that was hit or miss at times and tended to hold the ball more using more jabsteps to size up his defender. A lot of Kobe moves were slower & predetermined like he practiced every arsenal he can to use against his opponent. Jordan moves were more calculated & did every move in a quicker & more decisive way. It’s all subjective, can’t say what Kobe did was worse or wrong to do cause MJ used similar ISO moves but MJ was more effective with his moves. But what really made MJ more effective at times than Kobe was his offball game. MJ was more active off the ball than Kobe by cutting to the rim more often, shooting those C&S midrange shots like Rip Hamilton and setting screens like a big to get himself & his teammates open shots. Kobe sometimes would move without the ball like MJ but their were many times Kobe would stand idly at the top of the 3 or corner with his hand on his knees, MJ was like Curry & Klay constantly being active off the ball never just standing around in the offense

@@cyberpunkalphamale Not saying your opinion is invalid but I disagree. Lebron would still be great but I think his scoring would be down and he'd be forced to be a better jump shooter. Considering he is a ball dominant player he'd be more of a facilitator, maybe like a 24 pt 8 Assist 6 Rebound pt guard. Mentally Lebron in quarters 1-3 Lebron is tough but tends to be too passive on the offensive end in crunch time much to his team's detriment. Again, im not saying he wouldnt still be great, but i dont think people would be comparing him to MJ.

Stop bringing lebron up. We know that he's not fucking with MJ! The only thing you're doing is making these lebron fan boys comment and say some dumb shit.

@@cyberpunkalphamale Are you on crack? Spacing in the 90's was literally non existent. Players were packed around the paint like sardines. Lebron has a much easier time finding open teammates without having his passes interfered with today than he ever would have in the 90's.

@@cyberpunkalphamale there were more and better rim protectors back then, his meltdown in Dallas was because of chandler and dirk were waiting for him at the rim. In 2016, they came back after bougut got hurt and there was no rim protector. 2007, young Duncan caused lebron to shoot 35% from the field.

That was possible because of the high jump and the glove. :) And it's impossible to match that, for a regular size player.

that's what I'll always said always said to Kobe Bryant and guys have some of his fade away but his repertoire of fadeaways was so extensive that they didn't have all of them... Dude fadeaways that are Lost art haven't been done since Jordanso I said Kobe Bryant didn't have all the variety of of fade away Jordan had too many different ones

Is MJ all legs small torso. So much my the moves and fadeaway fakes his legs go out so far. Seems like he able able to exaggerate it very far also because of how damn low he got.

Most of these shots the defender barely has their hand on Jordan and if they do they not even putting force 🤔 OGs love to say their hand checking was way more intense than today’s 😂
@EwicJL
@EwicJL 4 жыл бұрын
Considerably more intense. These are a handful of clips. Most of the hand checking people are referencing occurred around the perimeter or at the initiation of a drive to the basket. Prior to the elimination of the hand checking rule there were only two players under 6'-5" to win the MVP and they were Bob Cousy and Allen Iverson. After hand checking was eliminated there have been 6 winners under 6'-5". Nash twice, Derek Rose, Steph Curry twice, and Russell Westbrook. The game is different.
