Hi and a Merry Christmas to you 😊 Thanks for the info ..great 👍 , although I'm still waiting for my G2 to arrive 😭..all the info i can get beforehand is very welcome!. In regards the " Community folder" in MSFS2020 , everytime Microsoft or Asobo has an update there is a warning that the new update might be affected by the files in the community folder so its best to copy it and delete it and re-paste in after the update. One thing i would like to say though is ..i am new to flight simming and I've been very impressed with the community aspect of the genre ..forums, utube videos , etc etc all very helpful and informative! 😀👍 Thanks

Hi BambinoTech, just discovered an amazing optimisation tweak yesterday. I was trying to fix videos being temporaritly blank during play a symtom of a bad video adaptor driver. So I uninstalled all nvidia software and ran disk cleanup in windows making sure to remove the shader files and deleted all files in windows/temp and appdata/local/temp. Then reinstalled the same nvidia driver and to my utter amazement msfs ran a lot quicker in vr and reprojection using the openxr tool worked so much better than before.
@BamTechVids4 жыл бұрын
Wow. That’s great. I had heard of others who did a clean install of nvidia drivers with good results. Which GPU are u using?

@@BamTechVids Asus ROG Strix 2080 Ti, I can run with some High and Ultra settings in rural areas which is amazing but I still have OpenXR scaling on 70% and MSFS scaling at 70% that makes such a big difference but is also still pretty good for the G2, other headsets you probably don't need to be as aggressive. When running disk cleanup make sure you select clean up system files and check Direct X Shader Cache. Let me know how you get on if you give this a try!
@dabneyoffermein5954 жыл бұрын
@@dtrjones why clear DirectX Shader Cache?
@dtrjones4 жыл бұрын
@@dabneyoffermein595 because cached shaders are compiled by the driver and may be corrupt or out of date for the new driver. I would delete the shader cache when changing drivers especially if rolling back to get better performance in MSFS. Has no impact on DirectX titles as they are recompiled at runtime.

Im not sure i follow the openxr custom resolution scale.. 80% which you set in it + 70% in game combined gives around 55% overall resolution (assuming 100% from steamvr). Wouldn't it be better to leave the custom resolution scale setting on 100%, and then change resolution scale in game? Why add the extra step? Very informative video otherwise, have a good one

since posting this video it was discovered by VR Flight Sim Guy that 50% OPenXR with motion projection disabled and 100% rendering in MSFS was the sweet spot. Check his channel for his 3 min video on it.

@@BamTechVids I have a rtx 3080, i-9 9900k. G2 reverb. Msfs almost all settings on ultra, high. Render scale in fs 100, tried 50-100 in openxr. Sweet spot center the instruments is clearly visible, but takes a second for eye to adapt and get focus. Peripherals are blurry and especially the terrain doesn't seem to be as crisp as i was hoping. Is this to be expected or is there something i can tweak? Also, it looks like 50% is the lowest setting possible for openxr? U mean I should leave it at default 50?

I don’t know why, but for me anything but 100 render scale gives fuzzy lines almost like AA is not on at all. Runway lines are a squiggly mess further in the distance. I had to go 100in game render scale, and 80 in the windows mixed reality developer tool. That seems to work better for me.

I haven't done any testing, but I think it's better for HP Reverb users to run MFS2020 without Steam VR if you can, just WMR and OpenXR. Otherwise, set both global and per app resolution scaling in SteamVR to 100% as it is shown in this great guide and use in game and OpenXR scaling, assuming that 100% is really 100% in SteamVR, which might not be the case.

in the openXR program, can the render slider be adjusted while in flight or is it a set first then fly deal? My CPU was showing very low while flying into a less rendered airport but when at Seattle it was pretty choppy... CPU getting hammered at seattle but not pegged but at a midwest airport it was 12 percent. its not a great CPU (6800K) and my video card is about like yours, it's just a 2080TI and I know yours is a 1080TI (they are about the same capability) and i had lots of room to play with on the GPU at the smaller airport too. So i flew at OpenXR being set to 80 then tried 85. I have my VR glasses (G2) set to 100% as you suggested.. ive had then all the way to 200% while playing games like Halo Recruit and Pavlov. But Flight Sim is a whole different animal. I need to make sure Im on the CPU1, it was cut off so Im not sure what CPU i was seeing. Thanks for any advice.

I've got that one older GPU driver that supposedly works best, along with recommended settings in nvidia control panel, game mode off etc. Got everything in game set to low or off with render scaling down to 50%. Even with all of that it is completely unplayable. I'd guess I get maybe 15fps max and get a horrible black border on the edges of the screen following me around whenever I look around... I know I shouldn't expect great performance but I don't understand how my performance can be this bad. It should at least be somewhat playable at these settings right? I just don't get it.
