Took a 172 from Shoreham to some insignificant French airstrip at dusk last night. The sunset was breath taking. The light faded fast and I found myself in utter darkness over the channel. Half way across I started to see the faint red glow of airport lighting over in France. Holding my course I arrived at my final destination only to find I couldn't see a bloody thing. So I diverted to somewhere with lights and landed. The whole sim is utterly amazing and I'm completely blown away and overwhelmed by my renewed love of VFR flight simming 11/10 for the dev team its a stunning achievement. To all the haters bashing the sims faults, remember we have a VFR globe as our play ground.

@@VRFlightSimGuy Hehe thanks a bit more RAM might be wanted pretty soon. But the big elephant in the room is the amount of 'play' in my stick it cant be fixed but any semblance of accuracy is now gone unless I add an insane dead zone. I'll keep fighting it an pretend its cross winds and turbulence. At least until businesses start restocking with Sticks and yokes. Also want to grab me some kind of throttle quadrant if I plan on really getting into this. Track IR is a treat or its cheaper cousins. I feel they will be the way forward until we have GPU's that are capable of running this at 120 fps on two monitors. That may be years down the road but who knows AMD and Ngreedia may surprise us all Until next time happy landings😎

@Aitch Yea I know about them. Not really interested as I recently jumped up to a 5600xt from a GTX 1060. Difference was a quantum leap forward. As for FS 2020 I'm actually more than happy with its performance on my current system. Its a mix of high ultra setting at 1440p. Looks great and I've had no real issues.

Great video thanks! I have found the manual cache not working properly for me so I deleted my manual cache and am just using the rolling cache, which will retain the areas flown. So the next time over the area it doesn't need to stream as much data and the sim is smoother. The more flights in the area the smoother it gets, which is fine for me. I don't believe manual caching to be higher res than the rolling cache but I'm not sure.

Do you know why they decided to 3D scan Southampton? I haven't tried but you're saying if I fire it up now and fly over there it will look like that? Amazing. I haven't had much experience with Orbx but I hope they don't screw up like they have with the London scenery pack. I paid good money for that and while it adds landmarks they have horrible low polygon counts and textures, and replace the beautifully crafted stock buildings like the Shard and Tower Bridge with gross 2000s FSX cut-and-paste jobs. Buyer beware.
@briank37544 жыл бұрын
Chris Burn not sure what Orbx was thinking with the London Scenery, but they usually do some pretty exceptional scenery and airports. I have the entire UK, Washington State, and Florida from ORBX on X-Plane and all three are superb! I also have a few of their free airports in Europe and even those are high quality in X-Plane. They are going to have a harder time with MS Flight Sim compared to X-Planes as Xplanes default scenery Is terrible. Improving MSFS 2020 will take a high level of detail.

now add cars, bikes and boats and you can ship your bike to the isle of man and then fly the driver and crew to the circuit, drive the bike in a truck to the circuit and then do an online race against your friends. After that go back to your house and the game exits if you close the door.

Regarding comedy camber on the roads I (think I) remember years ago in FSX there was a utility to correct road camber so it just modded the mesh so roads would be flat side to side. Yes, odd really - just a priority given to the work by Asobo... the DEM (Digital Elevation Model) for the world has got better and better over the past 30 years, because radar satellites are basically very good at it, but FS2020 currently uses something that looks maybe 20 years old. I *think* the reason is simple - Asobo have used a new internal format for their world elevation model so any use of external DEM data requires a conversion, and they've put this off...

Thanks for great video... I just wanna say that if anyone is interested in FS 2020 benchmark analysis should watch Hardware Unboxed YT video kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2e1eqmsgrV1isk Steve pointed out that this sim is heavily CPU bottlenecked (heavily taxing only 2-4 cores) as no GPU is able to get past 66fps at 1080p medium (1080 and 2080TI performing the same) so you really don't "profit" from 8 or more cores CPU. Going with some fast 6C/12T CPU like i5 10600K or R5 3600 (more on the budget side) and 1080TI/2070S should give best bank of a buck at 1080p... The only GPU standing out at 1440p and 4K is 2080TI (but still don't expect miracles as the difference between 1080TI/2070S and 2080TI was max 8 fps)... For some reason AMD GPUs are not doing well with FS (probably bad driver optimization). I was hoping for better multicore utilization. It's sad to see such a gem not utilizing new CPUs to larger extend.
