What a complicated mess. Asked to login 14 times. Forced to change my password 4 times. Finally after subbing the monthly OneDrive cloud, it refuses to backup credentials and tells me to verify my identity yet again (15th time) but does not tell me how I am to do this. I went thru my notification settings over a year ago and turned off the ones I don't want. Later I UNINSTALLED OneDrive but am suddenly getting popup notifications each time I get on my pc after being gone overnight to backup my files to onedrive! How can that be when it is uninstalled??? You are terrific at explaining things! Thank you for that. It is confusing, however, that you have to blur out so much of your personal files, etc. So that the novice learner can't tell what you're showing. May I suggest that you create a demo user account that doesn't have personal files so that you don't have to blur things out? I would also suggest that the demo account also have the Windows toolbar at the bottom. I understand why you have it on the left, but you lose many newbies with it there. Thanks!!

Hi Lea. I am unable to delete files on One Drive. I’ve watched 100 tutorials and something is going on that I cannot figure out. This is a work computer but these are my files. I’ve asked our IT guy and he is clueless. I go to OneDrive; find a folder or file I want to delete; hit DELETE and I am told cannot delete. I came across a very tiring problem with onedrive. I ran out of space on it and tried to un-sync my files, but when I do it, everything from my desktop disappears, besides icons and files that are not connected to OneDrive for some reason. I can't choose folders, they're unclickable for me. Also I downloaded my files to the pc and everything has the full green tick, but when I remove it from onedrive it still disappears from my computer. I have no idea what to do anymore. Nothing I find on the internet helps. It feels like 90% of my device files are in absolute connection with OneDrive.

Hi Alison! In general, there is not big difference. The only advantage I see using the desktop app/OneDrive in file explorer is that it's a lot easier to access and very native to use, just like you would use any other local folder. Lea, i have spent so much time trying to sync music from Media Monkey player which I added 3-4 days ago. My one drive has several instances with Sync issues so, ...I'm not getting the data sent. I am so unsure of signed in in, shortcuts accessibility options. Hi. Good question I am not entirely sure about. But I assume if the account will only be blocked and stay "alive", the folder will still be there. However, if the account/user will be deleted, all the information will be gone. In your case, I would check with your IT department.

Fine and good, but how to you segregate syncing? I have one MS account, but own two computers. I use them for very different tasks. I want to sync both to one drive for backup purposes only. The issue is if I have 8GB of data on one PC I use for CAD only, when I turn on my second PC that I use for gaming, ALL those files automatically start to show up and clutter that PC. Deleting them will have the terrible affect of deleting them from the PC I want them to be on! My only workaround "so far" - I haven't verified this yet was to turn off Onedrive syncing, maybe uninstalling from one PC. How can you segregate what gets synced to what?

Little Info: If you sync the CAD files to OneDrive, it doesnt use any storage on your other computer, only if you double click the file to open it. You can check this in the File Properties. If the "Size on Disk" are 0 Bytes, then it is not on the local drive on the computer.

Hi! Yes, if you want to use your files when you are offline, you need to keep a local copy or sync just before going offline. With the software you are mentioning, I can't help because I am not familiar with it, sorry!

I think one drive is an abomination. All these facilities are well and good and I would like to use some but when you install 365 it takes over your computer and it is extremely difficult to regain control . I have a personal computer and I want to control where my documents are stored and backed up. I am happy to have a one drive folder to store documents I want to share or access from multiple locations. I do not store data on the c drive and I had my libraries on other drives. One drive shifted them all to the C drive and when I installed outlook it moved my mail files to the cloud (as well as changing my pop 3 to imap and trashing all my customizations. These programs in themselves are ok but the installation programs are pure evil - no choices and you only find out the damage after the effect.

File a complaint with the ECC, that's what I did. They hijacked my C-Drive in order to push their monthly subscription. If you clicked "get the maximum out of your system" you basically give Microsoft permission to f*ck you good. I opened the files on Drive. However you dont mention that Microsoft products dont open. I have Microsoft 365 Office. In order to open Microsoft files i have to go to start button open office and than click on drive. However .pdf files do open directly from Drive. I have seen some solutions on default file associations however they dont work. Do you have a solution or i have to first open 365 Office & than open Drive? Many thanks!

Hi, I am sorry to hear that your MS files do not directly open from OneDrive. I do not know this issue since it works perfectly fine for me. I believe this might be due to a number of reasons you might want to check, such as the file persmissions, default file settings, file access settings, OneDrive/MS settings etc. Sorry for such an inconclusive answer but that's really hard to judge remotely. Hi Robert, thank you so much for your support! Not sure what you mean by "OneDrive automatically update". If you are working in OneDrive in the browser that's for sure, because you are changing your OneDrive folder structure. If you are working in your file explorer, where you have synced and mirrored your OneDrive, then as well. However, if you are working on your local drive, for example, that is not synced with OneDrive, OneDrive will not update (only synced files and folders will do so). Hope this answers your question. Hi Lea, wonder if you can help here... I am trying to transfer all my iphone photos to the computer. I have de-selected "Pictures" folder in "Setting/Manage Backup" prior to the photo transfer. However, when the photos are being transferred, they are automtically backed up/stored onto OneDrive. Where in the Setting that I change to prevent all my photos from going into OneDrive?

Hi Denis, it might be the case that you enabled backing photos/videos from devices. To disable it, go to your OneDrive settings via the small cloud icon in your taskbar, then to the gear on top right and to syncronizing. There you can disable to save all photos/videos from devices. Hello. There are different folders that are important to me on different drives on my computer. For example, "My projects", "Software" and so on. I want to upload all these folders to OneDrive. I need this for backup. I also want all changes in these folders to be synchronized with OneDrive. How can I do it? I found the ability to synchronize “Pictures”, “Desktop”, “Documents” and several more “standard” folders. But I don’t see how I can add the folders I need to synchronization. This is quite easy to do with Google Drive. What about OneDrive?

Hi, I believe I have explained how to sync specific folders in the video. To chose the folders you want to sync you need to go via the OneDrive settings and then select the ones you want to sync or not. First, however, you need to move/copy the folders or files you want into your OneDrive space via the browser or the file explorer. Hope this helps, Lea

This is why I immediately wrote: “There are different folders that are important to me on different drives on my computer.”. I can't move or copy all the folders that are important to me to my OneDrive folder. When I right-click on any folder, I can add it to the Google Drive sync. What about OneDrive? Is there such a possibility?

Hello Lea great introduction to One Drive. At the end (9:40) of the video, you tell us how to choose folders to sync with a computer. This option interests me! But I don't get the Account window with the Setting gear. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you and keep up the good work!

Hi Dominique, thanks! Even though I have never came across this problem, you might want to try the following: reboot your computer. Log in and out of OneDrive. Access OneDrive in the browser and change settings there if possible. Hope one of those options can help. All the best, Lea

Hallo Lea, vielen herzlichen Dank für das tolle Video. FAST alles funktioniert super. Das einzige was ich richtig schlimm finde, ist das ich bei Bildern keine Vorschau mehr habe. Ich sehe überall nur ein Seitensymbol. Erst wenn ich die Seite anklicke, sehe ich welches Foto dahinter steckt. Ich konnte leider noch nicht herausfinden wie ich das ändere. Vielleicht kannst du mir helfen? Ich habe Windows 11Home.

Aus der Ferne (ohne zu wissen, ob du die Browser oder Desktop/File Explorer Version nutzt) kann ich mir lediglich vorstellen, dass du die Ansicht der Bilder geändert hast. Probier doch mal folgendes: a) Browser: oben rechts solltest du eine Kachel sehen und dort verschiedene Ansichten auswählen können, b) File Explorer: dort solltest du unter Ansicht/View auch die verschiedenen Optionen wählen können (Vorschauch ja/nein, Größe, etc.). Ich hoffe das hilfe und viele Grüße, Lea

Hi, thanks for your video. I am currently trying to move all my files from my old computer to my new one. I have one drive logged in on both computers. I used the File Explorer way to move my files over. I thought everything was going great & I was so happy.... Until I realized that NONE of my PDF files were transfered over. I use Nitro Pro for my PDF creation & editing, in case that's important... I've been searching for answers, but have not been able to figure it out yet! Any ideas?

Hi Eva, sorry to hear that you have experienced these issues. I have never come across this issue but what you might want to check is to have Nitro Pro installed on both devices. Also, instead of moving the PDFs you might want to try to copy and paste them and finally, you could try to use the browser version to move the files if everything else does not work. Hello Lea, I try to print PDF files stored in OneDrive while access them within a browser. However the web-version OneDrive always prompt me to download the PDF to local, which I found very inconvenient. Anyway I can print the PDF without downloading them?
